Their cover of Aerosmith’s “dream on” should definitely be on your to-do list, along with Can’t Help Falling in Love, Man in the Mirror, any of their Halloween songs and Disney covers, Dragonborn Comes, etc etc lol
I thought that you might like to know that VoicePlay do all the editing, arranging, lighting and behind the scenes stuff is done by the group. They very seldom use outside sources for their videos. But, thank you for your reaction. I enjoyed it.
Eli, the bald rock tenor, does most of their lighting and special effects. He’s a bit of a stickler for perfection, the lighting is all red and blue except for one section. During the line “to fiddlers green”, there’s actually a green cast over to the right side. He does it all on the computer and the computer does the lighting effects for them during the production.
I wish more people would use your music approach to just everyday life. The idea that we can get so much from just being willing to listen to things out of our comfort zone is epic. Thank you for that. Loved your overall reaction but your comment about getting so much from just listening to music new to you really hit home.
This is fire for sure. I love this song and I'm so glad you got to enjoy it too! Great reaction. I think you might like their recent cover of Dream On, or My Mother Told Me.
This song if from "Pirates of the Caribbean". Voiceplay is known for their theatrics. It is one of the things that makes them unique in the A Capella world.
@@markbelcher2972, one part I have never heard a reactor comment on, though: when Geoff is doing the bass "Yo, Ho" chant and Layne is doubling him in baritone an octave higher... the pitch precision from them doing that is chilling, in my opinion.
You picked two good ones for your introduction to VoicePlay! One reactor was so overwhelmed by this video he got up and walked out, forgetting he didn’t have pants on! There's also another series of reactions of one reactor reacting to others. Welcome to the VoicePlay rabbit hole! I fell in 2 years ago and haven’t surfaced yet.
So glad to see you back so soon! Loved your reaction. VoicePlay covers a lot of different kinds of music, but they have a real strength in doing anything with a theatrical tie-in: anything from Broadway to Disney to songs from games. VoicePlay's cover of Little Mermaid is a classic, as is We Don't Talk About Bruno. There are also 3 more songs from the Nightmare Before Christmas that are loads of fun... on their channel, they have a Halloween section and they're listed there. I remember how much fun you had listening to Oogie Boogie... If you want to hear more Geoff (the bass) listen to 16 Tons on his personal channel (Geoff Castellucci). (liked/subscribed)
Great reaction, thanx for jumping right back in to Voiceplay! I'll recommend Can't Help Falling in Love (same lineup as Oogie Boogie Man) and We Don't Talk About Bruno (same/current lineup as this with a different featured artist). Trust me, you won't be sorry!
When Voiceplay performed on the Sing-Off show, Rachel Potter was going to sing with them, but she was called to sing on the X Factor instead. They made a switch at the last hour with another female singer and their dynamic changed or the outcome may have been different. They might have sung against Home Free for the title. I would have loved to see my two favorite groups duke it out. ... Guy
Yes, me too. He would probably enjoy "Survivor-Zombies vs Hillbillies" that Voice Play and Home Free did together. I have heard that they were suppose to do that for the face off on season 4 which never happened but they did that one together live on their "Sing Off" tour after season 4 ended.
Voiceplay and home free were on a show called sing off at the same time. Sing off was all about accapella groups. Voiceplay was not as tight as they are now. Home free won that year and Voiceplay was in the top 5.
Yep.. You've missed out on a lot.. No worries, you have time to catch up. 🤣. I believe Eli (ellee) is responsible for lighting, Geoff and Layne share arrangements, Geoff's wife is production manager... (you know what they say... Behind every successful man is an even more successful woman) 😉Cesar is in charge of sassiness.. When they have a featured artist, they are always in the middle. Xx. Ps. Great reaction. X
Every singer in VP is a chameleon. The tenors drop to bass, the bass goes to counter-tenor, and Layne (beatbox) is out cruising galaxies. The only clue I have to who is singing what sometimes is to watch their hands. If these guys had to sing with their hands in their pockets, they wouldn't get a note out!
Peter Hollens must be your next reaction. Blessed with an incredible range, most of his videos are layers of his own voice (up to 100 tracks) and he is phenomenal. A good one to start with is Misty Mountain, a collaboration with Home Free's Tim Faust.
You should check out Voiceplay’s video for Just Sing. They have many amazing and talented singers in that. Watch with captions on to get all their info 😊
Thank you so much for your reaction to Voice Play. It was awesome. I have a few requests please. Voice Plays version of Dream On by a. Voice Plays Version is much better than Aerosmith's. Voice Plays version of Carry On My Wayward Son. Voice Plays version of Tennessee Whiskey. Voice Plays version of The Dragonborn Comes Skyrim. Voice Plays version of Halo from the video game Halo. At the end of this song Scott Porter gives a tribute to a fallen comrade of theirs who inspired them in so many ways. Please look into Voice Play more often. Voice Play does 99%of all their arrangements, productions, backgrounds , lighting costumes. They are a total package. Either Geoff or Layne do the arrangements & Eli the bald high tenor does the lighting & special effects & they all collaborate & the final decision is up to who ever does the arrangements. They are known as The Theater Kids ever since they worked at Disney. Geoff ( Jeff ) the low bass singer has his own Chanel. He clones himself 3 times over so he can harmonize with himself. He does all his own arrangements, productions, backgrounds, lighting & his wife Kathy is his & Voice Plays production manager.
Some of my favorite songs from them are Warrior, Halo and Friends on the Other Side. I thought they absolutely killed it on those songs. Unfortunately they have had a lot of turnover so you might not recognize people from the older songs to the newer ones.
While you're doing a capella, try Voctave and Peter Hollens. For Voctave, I love their Disney Princess Medley and check out Peter Hollens collaborating with Tim Foust (from Home Free) on "Misty Mountains" (from the movie "The Hobbit"). The "fab five of a capella (at least as far as I'm concerned) are Home Free, Voice Play, Pentatonix, Voctave, and Peter Hollens. You can't go wrong with any of them.
They aren't strictly acapella, but right in there should be The Bass Gang. Check out their cover of 'Mad World' (which might be 100% acapella, come to think of it).
@@randyhawley7202 Who isn't strictly a capella? According to the definition of a capella, all these folks are 100% a capella. That doesn't mean they can't sing with musical accompaniment for some songs (e.g., check out some of Geoff C's and Austin B's solo work).
Please please do a reaction video of Voice Plays version of I Got Friends On The Other Side. You will love it. Thank you again for another great reaction to Voice Play.
If your willing to try something else to Id love it if youd check out Claire Crosby she started singing at 3 years old. so maybe start there with the little mermaid song
Nobody does theatrical acapella better than Voice Play. They are a total package. Eli the bald high tenor does the lighting & background.
Their cover of Aerosmith’s “dream on” should definitely be on your to-do list, along with Can’t Help Falling in Love, Man in the Mirror, any of their Halloween songs and Disney covers, Dragonborn Comes, etc etc lol

Voiceplay are the 'theatre kids' of the acapella groups... most every thing they do is a full production! Glad you enjoyed this!
This is by far my favorite arrangement from Voiceplay.
Their bass singer, Geoff Castellucci, did all the arrangements for that whole video. Crazy talented bunch.

I've heard this so many times and it still moves me, every time. Gets right into your bones. Nice reaction.
My favorite from them, by far. "Dream On" is a close second, though.
This song is simply EPIC. It is the best vocal+theatrical production I have ever heard.

One of my favourite VoicePlay songs is "When I Was a Rich Man". It's a lot of fun!
It's a horribly underrated song. Ashley is fire in that one. And Geoff's high run is a can't miss
