Tourist signs are brown specifically to have them stand out from traffic instruction signs, which are typically bold, primary colours. By having brown, it catches the eye to say “this isn’t about driving, it’s something of interest”

The traffic light thing is simple…
    Green - go
    Amber - prepare to stop

    Green - go

Best thing in a Christmas cracker is always the mini screwdriver set. Very useful if you wear glasses and need to tighten the timey screws in your spectacles. Fun stuff includes little puzzles, like interlocking metal blocks and you’re supposed to figure out how to combine them into a cube or something. Useless stuff, most of it - depends how much you pay for the cracker set really.

The traffic lights in the UK make sense if you consider that manual transmission vehicles are more commonly used here than automatics. Automatics, or semi-automatic transmissions, are becoming much more popular now in many European countries.
The amber light prior to turning green affords drivers the opportunity to put their vehicles into 1st gear in preparation for moving from a stopped position.

You are missing out if you dont try Weetabix. Excellent with hot milk which turns it into a thick, delicious porridge in the winter and cold milk (fruit optional) in the summer. It still softens but not as much as with hot milk unless you leave it to soak up the milk. Our traffic lights are safer for both pedestrians and drivers as it also give those passing through an intersection (just after the stop line) time to get through before the opposing light turns green. Christmas crackers have small cheap toys and nicknacks in them but you can get really expensive ones that have expensive gifts inside. The kids enjoy the hat, joke and bang. Whoever gets the biggest part of the cracker gets the goodies inside.

For pedestrians to start walking, it's from red to green, no flashing amber. It starts to flash amber just before it turns back to red. This is from pedestrians point of view. Amber is there for drivers to be aware of pedestrians who may still be on the crossing. And for pedestrians to warn they haven't much time to get across and to be aware of cars. But it's always been red to green from pedestrians point of view.

The rules of the road in the UK - when the traffic lights turn Amber after Red, if people are still on the crossing, the drivers cannot go until the crossing is completely clear. If nobody is using the crossing when Amber shows, drivers can go. Pedestrians are not to start to cross the road when Amber after Red shows. This explains the liability of drivers and pedestrians.

The thing that the channel owner and Americans in general might not be aware of regarding crisps in the UK, is that you can buy a single standard size bag or packet for around £1, a single larger size for around £1.50 or a multipack of six standard size for around £2 and that way, the six standard size ones you get in the multipack work out per bag to be much cheaper than just buying a single standard size.

We fed our puppy Weetabix, with milk for breakfast as he came home to us, and we kept feeding him as he grew. As for doors, in the UK, we drill the exact lock size to fit the lock, whereas, in the USA, you have 2 x 3-inch holes in the door to do the same thing. It really weakens the door at the point it needs to be the strongest.

As a driver, amber means stop. The cycle is: red, red and amber together, green for go. Then, from green, amber on its own, then red for stop. This way you always know where you are in the cycle. Driving through an amber light is not an offence, but an amber alone cycling through to a red stop light should be stopped for. When the red changes to red and amber, you are prepared for the green which follows.
'Don't be an amber gambler', that is to say don't treat an amber on it's own as a cue to put your foot down and beat the red. Flashing amber lights are used at pedestrian crossings, and a driver may continue before the green, provided you are not going to mow anyone down!
As for Christmas crackers, they always contain a paper 'crown' so that everyone can look suitably daft wearing one...

If like to add the style of locks to the UK wins. Almost all doors are composite with metal interiors and multipoint locking systems, which is probably the security aspect this lady is taking about. The brown road signs are not just in the UK but also in the rest of Europe.
The Duvets she spoke of can also be found in the rest of Europe.
The front doors are not only in the UK sturdier but also in the rest of Europe.
The scooters she spoke of can also be found in the rest of Europe, some are motorised but originaly you step with your foot to get forward.

Christmas crackers can be cheap with little trinkets inside to the luxury ones which will have more expensive gifts inside, always with jokes and paper crown hats inside. Decorative for the table and fun too. The crisp bags we have can be bought individually or , in large bags of 6/10/12/ 18/24 and even more. They can be the same flavour or different flavours which pleases everyone. The large bags are also available. But don’t tend to be as large as the US versions. In the UK we walk a lot more. You will see parents walking their children to school, with the children on their scooters which are taken home and brought back for home time.

British doors (UPVC type) are very secure compared to American doors. When you lift the handle up, at the top middle and bottom of the door hook bolts and deadbolts engage into the door frame to spread the load when under attack. An interesting fact about them is that not even the police can break into them using their battering ram. The police have been known to spend over an hour trying to bash them open without success. Now their method of attack is to use a petrol disc saw usually used to slice through concrete to split the door from top to bottom. Before using the saw they used to snap the lock cylinder to gain entry but since the new locks are break secure they had to resort to using the saw. Still takes a good few minutes to get in though.
American doors, all you need to do is kick it and the frame which is usually made from a soft wood gives in no matter how good the lock is. For most of the homes, they use hollow doors which isn't very strong at all which is why they are so lightweight. The locks are also quite weak in almost every area unless you get a really good one like an ANSI Grade lock. I've never seen an American house have an ANSI Grade lock. They are all Deadbolt type with a secondary latch to keep the door closed. I'm not saying American locks are crap but Americans choose to have cheap locks over the quality ones that are available and that mindset needs to change. To compliment the good locks. Change the door to a solid wood door and frame.

I would argue the amber light before it changing to green saves fuel in massive quantities too. If you're approaching the light, and it turns amber you know you can maintain speed or even speed up depending on distance to the light and whether or not anyone is crossing. As opposed to having no warning, continuing to break and then having to speed back up to the speed you were already at.

Weetabix is so versatile. It’s just wheat. Nothing added apart from vitamins, iron and folic acid. No nasties in it. It’s great with hot milk, cold milk, yogurt, fruit, it can be baked into cakes and best of all babies can be weaned on it. Both my boys (now 35 & 30 ) were both weaned on weetabix. There was no worry about them consuming something bad as it’s all good.

Weetabix is a breakfast cereal. I like to sprinkle on a little sugar and enough milk to soak each one. Some people eat them with hot milk others with Yogurt and Fruit. It's you choice. They are made from whole wheat shredded then compressed into an oblong shape, fortified with vitamins, they carry the Healthy Heart symbol. Most UK cereals are made from Wheat, Bran or puffed rice. The exception is porridge which is Oats which again is a healthy breakfast, US oatmeal is similar but not as good for you as it contains sugar, fat and a preservative called BHT which is banned in the UK.

Weetabix, dry, are normally served as two "biscuits" and are low fat, high fibre, highish protien (4.5g when you have 2) plus a load of B vitimins. They are very plain taste wise by design. You add taste with milk, fruit, honey, sugar or whatever you want to them, using the bicuits as a base rather than the main source of flavour. If you're unwell and just want plain food then you might have them with just some milk.
