Their name is on the bastardized grandia hd collection too (though game arts is seen in store). I'll stick with dimensions as it's 2 player and has both r-type 1 and 2, modern and classic. They're both on sale and I just wanted to see if the weapons would wow me, seems standard in Final 2 let alone final 3 will be out soon.

OMG I remember playing this on my Atari ST520FM; it's definitely R-Type but IT'S BEEN MADE MODERN and I LOVE IT!!!! I can't wait to get and play this!!!
I don't know how many quarters I put into the R-Type(s) arcades at my local 7-11at 3am on any given day. I now have I, II, and leo on my home machine. R-Type Leo was the easiest, and never existed as an arcade, as far as I know. These later versions on various machines, while graphically impresssive, were just beyond my abilities to ever win. Irem was/is the best for side scrolling shooters!
Love r-type. As a kid I always wondered... If they made that orange ball thing indestructible, and actually it even deals damage to things that touch it, why not just build the actual ship out of the same stuff instead of paper that immediately crumples with the slightest graze of a projectile. They even made the little ones that go above and below you also indestructible damage dealers. Also, apparently these things are remote controlled or ai driven and more than capable of moving on their own. Why was the flimsy ship needed at all?
They used all the indestructible material up so they had to make the ship out a light alloy. If they were to do it again they would have started with the ship first. They did not know ahead of time there would be supply problems due to Covid.
If I remember correctly, the orange stuff can't actually be formed and only built onto. The material used to be able to handle the orange stuff does great at it's intended effect but leaves it weak to many other things.

You obviously have noticed that Forces can block/eat minor firepower while completely useless as a shield to bigger stuff. And what you are proposing is putting a pilot inside Bydo tissue fully enclosed by that stuff. What if the pilot loses control? Bad enough that a Force will "hatch" into a bydo embryo if control is lost, but at least the pilot can run away...
I’ve been playing this a lot since it came out. Very fun. I’ve always been a huge R-type fan! Loving the new graphics, although once in a while some shots end up getting lost in the background a little. Love the Leo. Shame that game never got released outside japan, or re-released.
Interesting thing is that R-Type Leo was re-released through a compilation known as Irem Arcade Hits for PC, which was released outside of Japan. Sadly, however, I don't think it's possible to purchase anymore. =/

Whether a solo release from Arcade Archives, a collection of their classic arcade titles, or even an R-Type Dimensions 2 which could have R-Type Leo and R-Type III.

In 5.0 in the end of the stage, you can find a an enemy that will drop 4 orbs, each of them takes you to a different route, from top to bottom they take you to 6.0,6.1 and 6.2 , the last one (grey), randomizes the route
Want to like this more, but the original had music that dragged you back for more. It was so "present" and iconic. The music was like 1/3 of the game's appeal. This just has soft mood music going on quietly everywhere.
So...somehow I missed getting this game. I quite literally found out this was out yesterday. I purchased it from GameStop (no digital) and it will be at my home on Monday. I have one question even though I'm pretty sure I know the answer...can we play this with sprites instead of the 2.5D graphics. Also...was this made to take advantage of the Series X and PS5? I ask because the top of the box said Xbox One/Xbox Series X when I bought it. If I'm stuck with the 2.5D look I at least hope it will be in native 4K@60FPS HDR10 w/Ray Tracing on.
This was an entertaining video. The use of 3-D was a great idea, and it was intriguing to see new levels added to this game after so long. Some of the creature designs were clever and interesting. It's all definitely tapping into some nostalgia! My overall impression, however, is that this game, while lovely looking in some areas, lacks a fundamental quality in others. There is a trademark finesse missing to the animation, worlds, and musical environments in this game. Don't get me wrong: it looks like a game that is very much *like* R-Type, but it just doesn't have the finer nuance or intricate detail of R-Type's last arcade sequel (R-Type Final), or its diabolical horror (keeping in mind the time in which it was made). This new version is also quite derivative and doesn't really break new ground: it feels unfinished, rehashing a lot of the older concepts without adding much of it's own. Some of the environmental obstacles seem bizarrely contrived and nonsensical, like something of a zany fun house for shooter fans, and in the process, robbing the game of its darkness and realism. I see this not so much as a return of authentic R-Type cosmic horror, but rather a missed opportunity to honor the franchise in a direction that brings us something newer, scarier, and realer feeling. Maybe in time it will improve?
How do you access the dlc stages. I got the game and the pack of all dlc (pack 1 2 and 3) but not seeing how to try them. The stage menu doesn't have them
After you beat the story mode and go start another playthrough, you will see an option to play "homage stages course", this is the DLC that currently only has 2 stages, but i do suspect that they will be bringing a stage from R-Type Delta next
for now i am playing with each ship on different stages, if you want to check them out, there is a playlist, R-Type 2 ship showcase. But i will do a compilation of all ships when they're all released.
Lacks originality, may be because it was crowdfunded and didn't have as much time to develop it like the other titles. R-Type final 1 is sublime. Even R-type Delta is better.
Hi there! Would someone advise how to get to the DLC levels, please? I have full game (Deluxe Edition, DLC, art and soundtrack included), but only Stage 1.0-Stage 7.2 availabel for me. After the final levels game is ending in different ways but levels X1 and X2 even not present in Stages menu. I guess it is because I've complete the game just at "Kids" difficulty but not sure. I tried to choose different globes at the Stage 5 but grey one is routes me the smae stages like purple or orange... Is it bug or random?
After clearing the game once, you can go to start game again and then the option Homage Stages will appear, choose that and you will get access to DLC Stages

Literally just look? Even so: The main game is US $40 on Steam. DLC packs are $7 each; you get two DLC stages per pack. (We don't know for sure yet what pack 4 will be, but we know it won't be stages.)
I don't think I've ever been so disappointed in a game. Particle effects, lack of contrast and terrible checkpoints make it so obnoxious to play. Damn shame, it looks like there's a fun game there but I just can't bring myself to learn it. Even more sad when I literally put 100's of hours into the original Final.
What I find a bit lacking is in the Boss department, we are fighting against the Bydo: Evil space abominations created from our DNA, the creatures don't seem so frightening like in R-Type III, Delta or Final. There are lots of mechanic bosses instead
Huge fan of the R-Type series, but this looks dull as dishwater, and stupidly easy. The levels just seem like rehashess of the previous game. And the music! What happened to the atmospheric tunes from Delta or the classic chip tunes of the early games? All i can hear is instantly forgettable EDM. Utter rip off at £35. Pass.
Play it yourself. Leo II ship that he's playing is really overpower. The normal R9A ship is really what makes the game good. You only start with that ship and then you progress

In DLC Stage, one is the Strike Bomber or R-90 Ragnarok, and the other will be the Regular R-9 Leo Leo respectively.

They didn't build it. It's seized tech from the bido. They just built ships that could adapt to ans maximize on the orbs.

I believe that is a score multiplier, since the higher the difficulty, that percentage gets higher

These stages were played in Score Attack mode, which is why the ship come with a full loadout

You should try using weak ships on R-Typer 3 Difficulty, i'm sure you'll find it challenging!
Hi there! Would someone advise how to get to the DLC levels, please? I have full game (Deluxe Edition, DLC, art and soundtrack included), but only Stage 1.0-Stage 7.2 availabel for me. After the final levels game is ending in different ways but levels X1 and X2 even not present in Stages menu. I guess it is because I've complete the game just at "Kids" difficulty but not sure. I tried to choose different globes at the Stage 5 but grey one is routes me the smae stages like purple or orange... Is it bug or random?
After clearing the game once, you can go to start game again and then the option Homage Stages will appear, choose that and you will get access to DLC Stages
@@gamesvariety726 Thank you for your reply. Unfortunatelly, there is no option in my "start new game" you are talking about. It looks something wrong with my game and i raised the ticket to Epic Support team.

Using resources in the R-Museum, though you need to unlock ship 3 R-9A3 Ladylove, the password is loveandpeace

Literally just look? Even so: The main game is US $40 on Steam. DLC packs are $7 each; you get two DLC stages per pack. (We don't know for sure yet what pack 4 will be, but we know it won't be stages.)

I don't think I've ever been so disappointed in a game. Particle effects, lack of contrast and terrible checkpoints make it so obnoxious to play. Damn shame, it looks like there's a fun game there but I just can't bring myself to learn it. Even more sad when I literally put 100's of hours into the original Final.

It is a piss poor PC effort given the funding. Digital control makes no effort to replicate true analogue (Wico etc) and no RTX 3000 support.
I'm really enjoying the game, but some things feel really lackluster, such as the endings.
What I find a bit lacking is in the Boss department, we are fighting against the Bydo: Evil space abominations created from our DNA, the creatures don't seem so frightening like in R-Type III, Delta or Final. There are lots of mechanic bosses instead
I feel like it is r-type final 1 with shorter levels otherwise it's almost exact. (To me)
Huge fan of the R-Type series, but this looks dull as dishwater, and stupidly easy. The levels just seem like rehashess of the previous game. And the music! What happened to the atmospheric tunes from Delta or the classic chip tunes of the early games? All i can hear is instantly forgettable EDM.

Play it yourself. Leo II ship that he's playing is really overpower. The normal R9A ship is really what makes the game good. You only start with that ship and then you progress
