I started researching sundials because I thought it would be another way to argue against 'flat earth' but I had no idea how difficult it is to understand the concepts. I'm actually glad it's requiring some work to understand.
I'm aware that Godwin's law says the thread is over when you mention him, however: Hitler Apparently he wanted the world to run on one time zone, German time, and enforced this wherever he invaded. For reasons I'm unsure of, much of Europe stayed on this time zone after the war, and as such sundials in Spain and France are always at least an hour behind clock time. I just thought it might be worth mentioning that Europe's time zones have been complicated for political reasons, also.
