I'm aware that Godwin's law says the thread is over when you mention him, however: Hitler Apparently he wanted the world to run on one time zone, German time, and enforced this wherever he invaded. For reasons I'm unsure of, much of Europe stayed on this time zone after the war, and as such sundials in Spain and France are always at least an hour behind clock time. I just thought it might be worth mentioning that Europe's time zones have been complicated for political reasons, also.

I made a sundial and angled the nomen at 26 degrees (Johannesburg) then pointed it geo north but its a good 45 mins off, why would that be?
