Joey, thank you for taking the time revisiting Edgar! I appreciate every efforts that is put in this series. Keep up the amazing work and soon most of us will wake from our coffins craving for more of your greatness!
my Edgar decks is tuned to the teeth, average cmc is 2.76, I play 34 lands. I play OG Purphoros and Athreos in the deck for ping damage and recursion. I got 2 6 drop vampires in necropolis regent and patron of the vein, a couple of 4 drops in Kalithas, traitor of ghet and Bloodline keeper, which is a house in this deck. for an extra mana you can flip it right away. the rest is 1, 2 and 3 drops. I do still play Stensia Masquerade for the first strike but not sure if I should keep it. one card thats pretty good to save you from a boardwipe is "Scapegoat", you cast it and sac a vampire, return all your vampires to your hand to play out the next turn. it also returns any creature you might have stolen from someone with "new blood" to its owners hand.
Hot take: Anointed Procession does not belong in Edgar Markov. It’s better to play a 4 mana vampire instead. On the turn they’re played, 4 mana vampire comes with itself and 1 vampire token. Anointed Procession comes with nothing. Take a 4 mana vampire like Sanctum Seeker. How many 1/1 tokens are equivalent to the strength of a Sanctum Seeker on board? 3? If you agree that means you have to cast 4 vampires after casting anointed procession to break even. 1 to equalize the 1 token that came from casting Sanctum Seeker. 3 more to equalize the Sanctum Seeker itself. Anointed Procession is to “value” based and not working toward the tempo game plan Edgar desires
100% agree with anointed procession not fitting in the deck. The biggest problem I have with the card in this deck is that it comes into play AFTER you've played your low drop vampires. It doesn't add anything to your board nor cards in your hand (which you would have little to none on t4 if you play low mana curve Markov). Turns 4 and onward you're really looking to setup for a massive card draw spell like pact of the serpent or champion of Dusk to refill your hand after you sprayed the board, ready to continue the onslaught
I was re building my deck last night and I was totally thinking about removing anointed profession. I see the value you want to get from it but I would much rather just play a more impactful vampire
I have a low to the ground version, would for sure agree on the card draw. Nothing like getting flooded on land, hellbent, then casting a single two-drop. Draw and burn through the deck is where it's at. Bolas Citadel is high octane for sure. Fetches and draw spells keep the top of the deck gas, too.
One add I've been enjoying recently is Eldrazi Monument. Suddenly the team all flies and gets an anthem effect and indestructible to boot. I tend to rotate different anthem pieces in this slot, but this one might stick.
I love your builds, I made some obvious cuts like: 1. Ruinous Ultimatum for anything (it's a dead card in your hand 99% of the time). 2. Orzhov Basilica, all of these lands unless in a Landfall deck are utter trash and I've lost so many games playing these getting hit with basic land removal, and won for the same reason. 3. Bloodstained Mire, it's simply too expensive for a a fetch land at nearly $50.00. 4. Minon's Murmur, this is really out of the range of the deck now. And was replaced with Pact of the Serpent. Why not both? There's so much card draw it's no longer necessary. 5. And I made the swap to Idol of Oblivion like you mentioned for Phyrexian Arena, saving $20.00 here seems definitely worth. Things I've added: 1. Dusk Legion Zealot, does no one want to talk about this card being a 3-for-1 in this deck for 1 black and 1? This should be one of the first cards in your deck. It doesn't take much if you draw him to start to gain card advantage and creature advantage. It's so strong actually it's very difficult for most decks to overcome. Maybe even ban worthy. 2. Vampire Nocturnus, you can get into situations where you need the cantrip of flying. This card isn't always landing but when it does it's 5-6 drop in value. Plus, the artwork is dope asf! *Notes a few cards I haven't liked are Boros Charm, Anowon, the Ruin Sage, and Champion of the Dusk. I'm looking hard into finding other options for these 3 cards. Boros Charm just doesn't do enough and I find it's more of a safety net vs. board wipes early on, and often you will have to play conservative to hold the mana free. Anowon and Champion are just far to slow. Champion can actually put you into very poor life total positions because it's turn 5. 5-7 life drained and leaving your self open to a board wipe or counter attack. Although Champion is decent as well after a board wipe. I'll be playtesting these more to gather additional information on there play state.
Hello, could you do an updated version please? Low to the ground = best eminence use Itd be amazing if you could also not depend so much on keeping the price the same. Some People with much higher budgets want to know the best upgrades as well
I personally would love to see either Marisi, Breaker of Coils or Gahiji, Honored One please and thank you. Also I just picked up the white/green human/counter deck because hearing Matt talking about how good it is has swayed me.
Love the edits made! I would suggest running Coat of Arms, Reconnaissance, and Purphoros. Coat of Arms makes your board huger than anyone else’s after you’ve dumped your hand full of low cmc creatures turns 1-4 Reconnaissance feels great to swing all out, even with your little vampires, pull back the blocked ones, and untap every Vampire as if they had vigilance (not many do, so this is great value) Purphoros spooks my friends every time he comes down. He is hard to remove, effectively adds the text (deal 4 damage to each opponent when etb) and has a nice mana sink if you need the help closing out in the late game
Edgar is my first and favorite commander ever since I got it in commander in mid 2019. Constantly trying to improve the deck. My deck is more mid range than pure aggro aka not fully optimized. For sure the top two cards that come to mind that will help you win is Mirror Entity and Shared Animosity - the ability to just grow your army in terms of power is what has helped me close out games. If looking for board wipes for the deck, while expensive, def look into Meathook Massacre. Might make people think twice before they wipe your board if you have that out, and could be used as a finisher as well if deployed late game assuming you have a big board state. Anointed procession while an amazing card in the deck for me personally always felt like a win more card, though I’m sure some people love this card in this deck - just wasn’t for me.
I’m really excited for the new vamp, Cemetery Gatekeeper. Exile a land with it and burn all the green decks playing landfall. Yeah it hurts me too but it hurts them more.
I’d love to see a synergistic Obeka tune up! The average decklist seem to have a lot of room for improvement with e.g. Delina from the average deck list being a non-bo.
I know that Vampire Nocturnus is nice, because it's a vampire in addition to its ability, but I've replaced it with Eldrazi's Monument. It ALWAYS has the ability activated, everything gets +1,+1, flying, and INDESTRUCTIBLE. Extremely useful for those pesky boardwipes. You have to sacrifice a creature at the beginning of your upkeep to maintain it, but I think that is more than worth it.
Redoux are good, but Joey can you please do your take on Millicent? It's the first proper spirit tribal commander! The edhrec page is basically the precon plus a couple of old spirits from previous Innistrad sets
An a Edgar Markov player since the precon, I highly recommend Together Forever and Tenured Inkcaster. Together Forever in my experience overperforms in saving your creatures and Tenured Inkcaster is basically a second Sanctum Seeker. Also Cathars Crusade, of course. With Cordial Vampire, Indulgent Aristocrat and Drana, Liberator of Malkir, there are plenty of +1/+1 counters to spread withoud Edgar himself.
I do run some low to the ground vampires but all my 1 drops that I’ve chosen cost only 1 black mana just to simplify the 1 drop category sure there are good red 1 mana creatures but I like having a mid range aspect to the deck I think one of the best vampires that came out recently is immerstrum predator this thing is great a 4 mana vampire dragon that comes with a 1/1 buddy that when he attacks you put a +1/+1 counter and exiles a card from any graveyard and it also has the ability to sacrifice another creature to give it indestructible well he comes with a small vampire from Edgar ability that you can immediately sacrifice to make him indestructible so he’s a growing flyer that can be protected and if no one can deal with him he becomes a major threat especially if you have Edgar himself on the battlefield or anything vampires that can give him counter because then he’s growing 2 counters a turn and that can get out of hand quickly and I’m supremely surprised that no one is mentioned this Edgar is a extremely expensive commander right now like 100$ bill but there is a cheaper way to own him if you want to build Edgar on a budget and that is to try and find a retailer that is selling his oversized card many have forgotten that Edgar’s precon came with a oversized card and well on card kingdom for example the oversized card is 11$ that is so much more cheaper then a real copy and later down the line if Edgar might drop in price once all the hype has moved on to other sets then maybe consider getting a real copy but the oversized copy will do just fine and is 1- 10th of the price
sadly I think my vampire commander of choice is a little too hipster for this series, only getting in less than 200 decks, but I'd love to see a tackling of Olivia, Mobilized for War With enough card draw effects and vampires that stack on madness, you can get some very angry, hasty vampires hitting the board
Hey Joey, I’ve been loving the series! I think it would be really cool to get an episode on cleric tribal with Orah, Skyclave Hierophant from Zendikar Rising sometime. His average deck is pretty good but I feel like it could still use a bit of work; so it would be awesome to see you tackle him.
Henrika Domnathi, is a good card too for this deck, have included it in my deck, crazy to see Edgar costing above $100 when I originally bought the whole deck for $35..
My list on cards i wanna see for this format: Animar Imoti Kathril Mangara the diplomat Mila crafty companion Nethroi Oloro Questing beast Samut Sarulf Thantis Torsten von Ursus Ukkima Valduk Wort Xyris Yenett If i have to pick one of them it goes on torsten cause he is the best! And after this i wanna see questing beast :) I gues Torsten might be a case for build on scratch cause of lag on Data. But i swear he is the best!
I love vampires! But old edgar is so expensive. I would like to see a vid for new edgar (lifegain and/or aristrocrats theme) and one for strefan (blood token/cheating big vamps theme) My plan is to build these two Decks and once old edgar goes down in price or gets a reprint i have a good mardu vamp pool for it
I'd like to see a take to Tolsimir, Friend to Wolves or a Sefris. Those would be cool! I have a personal Tolsimir list and every time i put it on the table it's like nobody even knows what he does.
Personally I love Elesh Norn, Gran Cenobite. It often not only gets just enough of a late-game boost to have lethal, but can also wipe out other token decks leaving them open to be hit. Once even I had a guy scoop just because it made it impossible for him to get his tokens out.
I really like the low mana curve of this list maybe I gonna put the Markov enforcer in that list so I get 2 triggers per cast and gain a lot of fight triggers
You added a link to a budget version, but you did not add a link to the expensive version. If you are building a deck around Edgar, which costs a lot by himself, it feels weird to worry about a budget.
Love this! I love Idol of Oblivion as an add just by itself and I'd never thought of it, we'll see how that goes. Also, if you're not feeling Anguished Unmaking's price (or want to cut the Ruinous Ultimatum because you're never casting that either), you can buy a freaking *Vindicate* for less than $1. Also, am I nuts, or would Predator's Hour work really well here?
Personally id keep Sorin, Imperious Bloodlord. You may not have many high cost vampires but cheating one into play every now an then is a great mana saver. His plus one also permanently makes one of your vampires bigger. I also go for more of a +1 counter theme in my vampire deck so Blade of the bloodchief goes VERY well on my Elenda or Bloodtracker, or just making one of my other vampires huge is just fun.
Can we get a redux of Tuvasa? I built her because of the last upping the average on her and she is my favorite commander to play. There has been a lot of good enchantress support and reprints too since her last episode
Fabled Passage instead of Evolving Wilds? Wrath of God? Toxic Deluge? Meathook Massacre? What about those? I'm asking, cause I build my first EDH deck ever (after 17 years playin' M:tG O_O) and, of course, I must build Edgar Markov's Vampires...so what do you think? More mass removals?
I personally would add Kindred Dominance to the mass removal list. But I would also try to add more instant-speed interaction and card draw. This deck has a hard time refilling your hand in the mid-game.
I was hoping with Crimson Vow a new Vampire list would be made so I didn't have to spend $100+ on Edgar. However, it's another upping the average video so, I can't complain too much.
People are really sleeping on Molten Echoes. Why settle for one vampire lord when you can have two? Why settle for two when you can have three by tossing in a Panharmonicon or Anointed Procession? You can have 5 with both. Did I mention that the copies have haste too? Best part, it just got reprinted so it’s dirt cheap. There’s other cards that I like too such as Mana Echoes, Carnival of Souls, and Birgi, God of Storytelling to keep the storm train going. You do have to be careful though, a Champion of Dusk can potentially kill on a completely bare board. One thing that I’ve seen from looking over other Edgar Markov decks is that people try to have it do too much. They have lifegain, aristocrats, and aggro, which don’t really play well with one another. Pick one theme and go with it. I saved the lifegain shenanigans for Licia, Sanguine Tribune.
Guessing no one is reading this, but how is cavern of souls not in this? I rarely play commander but I have this precon and just trying to find a best list.
Why no shock lands and more fetchlands? I mean 9/10 of the shock lands made literally are for one of the colors for markov so even if u can’t use the blue u still can use the red etc. An fetchlands are fantastic for the deck..
Any swaps made to the list must either keep the total price of the deck cost-neutral, or else help lower the overall cost of the deck. Improving the mana base with fancier, pricey lands is suggested in the high-budget Honorable Mentions at the end of the video :)
I'm over a year late to the party, but one card I don't see getting the love I think it deserves is Reconnaissance. It is gross and degenerate in any deck that plays white and turns creatures sideways. It's possible to turn everything sideways, remove anything unfavorably blocked from combat (preventing it's death & untapping it), then remove everything else from combat (& untapping it) after combat damage is dealt, but before the combat step ends. It's like pseudo-vigilance for only one white mana to put it on the board.
Well, he's a super powerful commander who has all three colours you want for vampires and he's not been reprinted in years. Plus the deck he came in also had Teferi's protection. So yeah, he's hard to get and expensive.
@@plain6677 Edgar will need may reprints to lower his price by a significant amount. His popularity will unfortunately keep his price inflated. IF we are lucky hell going down to the 30-40 dollar rage if he gets printed in something like a modern horizons or commander legends set.
A revisit for the first time. We should do this for some of the older ones. Muldrotha might be cool.
Muldrotha was the first in the series haha.. Wouldn't be too hard to make adjustments based on that video with the new stuff it probably got.
@@deadNdivine12 my thoughts exactly
Joey, thank you for taking the time revisiting Edgar! I appreciate every efforts that is put in this series. Keep up the amazing work and soon most of us will wake from our coffins craving for more of your greatness!
I agree, I wouldn’t mind seeing some updates to old decks especially some of the most popular commanders
my Edgar decks is tuned to the teeth, average cmc is 2.76, I play 34 lands. I play OG Purphoros and Athreos in the deck for ping damage and recursion. Maybe Mondrak fits better

Game changer indeed!! :)
Shared animosity for me everything with power equal to them allplus first strike causes fits.
What did u take out? I added whip of erebos in mine.
Uuh nice thank you I was looking for a good egar update
Thank you for making this after the Crimson Vow release ❤️
Thanks for the video.
Yes this is just what I need.
As usual you have done a perfect job here! I vote for: Aminatou, Zur the Enchanter and Omnath, Locus of the Roil.
Decks that I would like to see:
All of them.
Ok seriously: Breya, Oloro, Lord Windgrace (which would be a Redux), and Meren (another Redux).
Love the Windgrace Redux and love to see my Boi Oloro
Even though he isn't a vampire, Purphoros does soooo much work in this deck. 4 damage to each opponent for each cast of a vampire? Yes please!
Teysa Karlov, Teysa Orzhov Scion, and Karlov of the Ghost Council are my favorites! I nominate those :)
I love your builds, I made some obvious cuts like:
Things I've added:
Update?
I like the idea of having more redux episodes. There’s plenty of good ones you could go back and hit. Like one of my favorites, Aminatou.
Yes more Reduxs please!
Grand pappy Markov getting a revisit, nice.
Thank you for this! I've been looking at my Edgar EDH deck and trying to figure out which fat to cut when adding the new cards in from the latest set.
Hello, could you do an updated version please? Low to the ground = best eminence use
Itd be amazing if you could also not depend so much on keeping the price the same. Some People with much higher budgets want to know the best upgrades as well
😊
I cant wait to see strefan or Olivia crimson bride upgrade
I personally would love to see either Marisi, Breaker of Coils or Gahiji, Honored One please and thank you.
Also I just picked up the white/green human/counter deck because hearing Matt talking about how good it is has swayed me.
Purphoros is always a red alert card in a vampire heavy Edgar deck. Cast 1 vampire and deal 4 damage to each opponent.
Love the edits made!
I would suggest running Coat of Arms, Reconnaissance, and Purphoros.
Coat of Arms makes your board huger than anyone else’s after you’ve dumped your hand full of low cmc creatures turns 1-4
Reconnaissance feels great to swing all out, even with your little vampires, pull back the blocked ones, and untap every Vampire as if they had vigilance (not many do, so this is great value)
Purphoros spooks my friends every time he comes down. He is hard to remove, effectively adds the text (deal 4 damage to each opponent when etb) and has a nice mana sink if you need the help closing out in the late game
Reconnaissance is a bomb for sure
Edgar is my first and favorite commander ever since I got it in commander in mid 2019. Constantly trying to improve the deck. My deck is more mid range than pure aggro aka not fully optimized.
For sure the top two cards that come to mind that will help you win is
Mirror Entity and Shared Animosity - the ability to just grow your army in terms of power is what has helped me close out games.

I'd love to see a Olivia , Crimson Bride commander list
Syr Gwyn needs some love. She’s pretty popular, but many of the lists I’ve seen have had some seriously overrated cards in them
I do run some low to the ground vampires but all my 1 drops that I’ve chosen cost only 1 black mana just to simplify the 1 drop category sure there are good red 1 mana creatures but I like having a mid range aspect to the deck I think one of the best vampires that came out recently is immerstrum predator this thing is great a 4 mana vampire dragon that comes with a 1/1 buddy that when he attacks you put a +1/+1 counter and exiles a card from any graveyard and it also has the ability to sacrifice another creature to give it indestructible well he comes with a small vampire from Edgar ability that you can immediately sacrifice to make him indestructible so he’s a growing flyer that can be protected and if no one can deal with him he becomes a major threat especially if you have Edgar himself on the battlefield or anything vampires that can give him counter because then he’s growing 2 counters a turn and that can get out of hand quickly and I’m supremely surprised that no one is mentioned this Edgar is a extremely expensive commander right now like 100$ bill but there is a cheaper way to own him if you want to build Edgar on a budget and that is to try and find a retailer that is selling his oversized card many have forgotten that Edgar’s precon came with a oversized card and well on card kingdom for example the oversized card is 11$ that is so much more cheaper then a real copy and later down the line if Edgar might drop in price once all the hype has moved on to other sets then maybe consider getting a real copy but the oversized copy will do just fine and is 1- 10th of the price

With enough card draw effects and vampires that stack on madness, you can get some very angry, hasty vampires hitting the board
Would love to see a new video for Teysa Karlov.
Mayael the anima plz. She has such unique deckbuilding restrictions.
I'd love a Windgrace redux.
Great idea for a video
Henrika Domnathi, is a good card too for this deck, have included it in my deck, crazy to see Edgar costing above $100 when I originally bought the whole deck for $35..
My list on cards i wanna see for this format:
Animar
Imoti
Kathril
Mangara the diplomat
Mila crafty companion
Nethroi
Oloro
Questing beast
Samut
Sarulf
Thantis
Torsten von Ursus
Ukkima
Valduk
Wort
Xyris
Yenett
If i have to pick one of them it goes on torsten cause he is the best! And after this i wanna see questing beast :)
I gues Torsten might be a case for build on scratch cause of lag on Data. But i swear he is the best!
I love vampires! But old edgar is so expensive. I would like to see a vid for new edgar (lifegain and/or aristrocrats theme) and one for strefan (blood token/cheating big vamps theme)
My plan is to build these two Decks and once old edgar goes down in price or gets a reprint i have a good mardu vamp pool for it
Nice list i am myself building an Edgar lifedrain deck atm to go with the Vamp theme any advice welcome
I would really like to see you look at Zaffai again. You only did the Precon recon but there is a lot we could do with him.
Maybe an Update für this with the reprint announced?
In tried Predator's Hour, in a low cmc edgar deck, and I find it to be a win-more card, opposed to keeping up the speed of the deck
Sorcery = ass
Would love an update to Teysa Karlov!
Arahbo or Krenko please?
Damn, this was a really sweet!
But now that re-visits are a thing... can we pleaaaase have a Meren re-visit?
I'd be so down with a Feldon Deck though
The only cards I'm missing in this redux are Cathars Crusade and Felisa. The counter theme is already in the deck.
I'd love to see a Gyrus, Waker of Corpses video!
Would be dope if you did Sethron the Minotaur general!!
How about some faerie love - such as Alela or Oona?
Please do Purphoros, God of the Forge
Would like to see a Kenrith redux!
Can you do one for licia
Think we will get a redux for Tovolar since more woofies came out? :P
Was going to make a DND/ knight version of this commander but life currently getting in way.
Kinda rather see new blood (pun not intended) rather than revisits, but as long as it’s balanced I won’t mind at all
"Without batting an eye."
Awful 😖 😄
Windgrace would like a redux, landfall is an established strat nowadays
Love the new video. But with all the card draw draing your life, I think you need to build in some sort of lifegain sub-theme.
I know this sounds weird but I want to see a Goreclaw green good stuff stompy deck.
i think redux are great for this series. maybe kaalia?
Suprises me how few people run iroas god of victory in edgar markov decks
Cause purphoros is better
I'm over a year late to the party, but one card I don't see getting the love I think it deserves is Reconnaissance. It is gross and degenerate in any deck that plays white and turns creatures sideways. It's possible to turn everything sideways, remove anything unfavorably blocked from combat (preventing it's death & untapping it), then remove everything else from combat (& untapping it) after combat damage is dealt, but before the combat step ends. It's like pseudo-vigilance for only one white mana to put it on the board.
Do Aminatou and the Ur-Dragon again!!!!!
In future reduxes I'd be very interested to see a quick bit at the end about how the deck has changed from the previous vid
Phyrexian arena ->>> Phyrexian reclamation
why not put "Purphoros, God of the Forge" in?
he is so strong with the eminence trigger
Y’all excited about all but licia sanguine tribune just sitting in Rome crying
There are really people paying $107 for this? I wonder sometimes if the prices are reflecting the reality
Well, he's a super powerful commander who has all three colours you want for vampires and he's not been reprinted in years. Plus the deck he came in also had Teferi's protection. So yeah, he's hard to get and expensive.
@@styfen yes true. Kess got reprinted and is now at $2, hopefully the same will happen for Edgar Markov!
@@plain6677 Edgar will need may reprints to lower his price by a significant amount. His popularity will unfortunately keep his price inflated. IF we are lucky hell going down to the 30-40 dollar rage if he gets printed in something like a modern horizons or commander legends set.
Kaalia redux!
Taking life gain from Edgar instead of making it efficient? Thank you but no, thank you.
No red counter spells..
Youre the aggro deck you propose not hold back
Boooooo..
