FF5 Galuf's World (Unknown Lands) Orchestral Arrangement

- This is my cover of the second overworld theme in FF5. The track was originally composed by Nobuo Uematsu.
Galuf is by far my favourite character in Final Fantasy 5! Though he didn't have a theme song in the game, I consider the original track, "Unknown Lands" or "World 2" in FF5 to be his unofficial theme. "Dear Friends" also makes me think of him, but this theme seems very... Galuf- especially after we learn more of his incredible backstory!
I wanted the song to sound kingly, proud, tempered and solemn. It sort of represents to me Galuf's fatherly devotion to not only his kingdom and remaining family and compatriots, but his lifelong quest to restore the balance to the world and repair the wounded fabric of reality. He is a noble warrior, a fearless leader and a selfless comrade in arms who fights side by side with his subjects and considers nothing to be beneath him.
In this arrangement, I also tried to recall the Main Theme from FF4, which I think is aesthetically and thematically very similar. In many ways, Galuf's World could be considered the "true" setting in FF5 and "Unknown Lands" is the truest "main" overworld theme, for although the merged world was the original world and Bartz's world is the one the player starts the game in, during the current events of FF5, the merged world is sort of a long forgotten golden age and the events in Bartz's world, epic as they might be, are side effects of the great struggle between Enuo and the Dawn Warriors. Thus, in this track, I attempted to encapsulate the very heart of Final Fantasy 5- one which beats deeply and sombrely underneath the cheerful and colourful veneer.

I haven't heard this one yet, but it showed up on my front page which is funny because it was uploaded exactly 4 years ago as of this comment. It's fantastic! Final Fantasy V and Galuf as a character are among the most underrated in my opinion. I'd love to hear this in the game if they were to ever remake FFV.

Arguably the best world map theme in FF behind 6 and 4
I didn't appreciate this theme as a child you really bring out its subtle beauty with the few changes here and there I love this arrangement that much more for it

That's a good choice! ^_^ I suppose, when I think about it, there are different aspects to each character and the various themes suit them for different reasons. An obvious example would be Celes's two themes from the opera and her suicide theme. Then there are characters who have no theme (like Galuf). Cloud is an example! The fight theme as well as the world map really suit him, in my opinion.
RebeccaETripp Yes, when characters don't have an official theme, you're free to choose the track that suits them the best ^^ As you mentionned Cloud, I personally think his theme is "Opening Bombing Mission", but the main theme and Fighting are great candidates too :D

Merry Christmas! ^_^ And yes, I agree! I think FF5, while not being wholly god tier, is definitely emperor tier (the next one down). I have a whole tier system, hehe! It goes god, emperor, queen, princess, knight, evil chancellor, stooge.

I never thought of this as Galufs theme lol. I always thought the down warriors was his unofficial theme kinda.

I have to agree with that description, Galuf is by FAR my favorite FFV character, and a contender for my favorite FF character, period.
One typo I noticed in the description, though, is that you refer to the “main them” in FFIV instead of main theme. However, something like that’s bound to happen when typing a TH-cam Description that long :P

Nobody has done yet decent covers of this because the game is very unknown (it was never released outside of Japan), but the ost is amazing and people will surely love to hear some instrumental covers. (The composer is the same one who did the ost of the well-known "Mystic Quest" and the no so known "Romancing Saga" trilogy.) Thank you in advance! ^^

BTW, I consider most fitting for Galuf's theme the "Dawn Warriors" of the "Castle Theme", but anyway, also this one could be considered for him :)
And a little note: the fight of Dawn Warriors was not against Exdeath? Because the struggle with Enuo was 1000 years before that IIRC. It is stated in FF Wikia also:
"1,000 years ago Enuo, an immortal wizard, traded his immortality for control over the Void. With the power of nothingness under his control, he wreaked havoc across Planet R. Eventually he was defeated by the power of the twelve Sealed Weapons and consumed by the Void. The Void was contained in the Interdimensional Rift, and the Crystals of element that sustain the world were split into two so the world itself would split as well.
Once the planet was split, the entrance to the Rift became caught out of reach in the space between the worlds, so that no evil could use the dark power of the Void again. Though he was consumed by the Void, Enuo's essence lived on in the Sealed Temple within the Void itself."
Yeah, you're right. Maybe I kind of worded that poorly. I more meant that they are fighting the war that Enuo created for them.

I've always wished in Square they should take those parts of the history (war against Enuo and also Warriors of Dawn battle against Exdeath) and make prequels for Final Fantasy V :)
The dawn warriors battled against exdeath because he wanted to control the power that Enuo had before the ancients seals him. Those who sealed Enuo were the "ancients ", but they are only mentioned in the game, and do not truly appear.

Thank you. ^_^ I was going for that effect. Fun fact: my father is a war veteran (he fought with the Australian navy in Vietnam). This character reminds me a LOT of my father. His relationship with Kryle, especially.
@@RebeccaETripp I believe it from deep in my heart because i lived something like the loose of Noctis with his dad the last year but with my grandma , she was everything to me the one that rises me, but in the end of sadness i remeber that i must continue for the sake of the life itself and keep exploring through this amazing realm of distant lands lifes and stories to one day tell stories to my future grandsons maybe xD
