All those newspapers and pics you throw away are desired by junk journal enthusiasts. Usually 10 pieces of whatever can run $15-20. The slides are also desirable. They usually sell 30 slides for about $15. Well worth trying to sell on Market place. You will have people wanting to buy.
Came here to say that, and all the old letters too
This entire locker is such a valuable beautiful time capsule of a man's lifetime works. It's priceless.
Sure hope you did some research, Jack!! Check to see if there is an Orchid Society near you. The wood and all of those pots were probably used together to earn the awards at the orchid competitions. Also, you're missing out with all of the old ephemera. Junk journalers like me will photocopy the deteriorating papers to have the old ads and headlines. There IS a big market for it!! Makes me very sad to see it all go into the trash! Even scientific papers with graphs and scales are great. The small "kiln" is probably scientific equipment that was fabricated for some specific experiment -- back in the day you couldn't just order stuff on Amazon -- you had to engineer it yourself. There's also a lot of interest in vintage documents regarding Nuclear Power theory and production. I'd buy all of those stamps and old envelopes and the little wax bags in a HEARTBEAT!!!!!! Even the empty stamp collecting albums are TREASURE to me!!! PLEASE sell them on Whatnot!!
People would pay for his information on his studies and pamphlets he had
Bing & Grondahl or Royal Copenhagen for the danish dishes, definitely worth something. I used to collect it, I love it. Research it before taking it to Stockton.
Also Dansk dishes.
whyd you "whatever" those Xmas ornaments, those are Shiny Brights, those are worth some cash
Crafters love old books, paper, old photos, slides, rocks etc , lots for your on line auction
If you stick that reindeer decoration in your freezer for about 30 minutes all that candle wax will pop right off.
Yes! I love that reindeer candle holder!
The box for the blender was hamilton beach but the blender was oster...a much more expensive brand and vintage collectable
Universities buy old books if they become part of the Studies course for reference,
i work in Acquisitions in AUT, so it would not hurt to list them on Amazon, just in case, if they are rare. Its a fun job.
You probably have already disposed of the slides of orchids but if you haven't you might check with the orchid society in your area!!
Exactly! They also might sell on EBay!
I agree you might also check and see if there is a gardening group and see if any of them would be interested. It seems to be a shame to throw away pictures to the people in a group to have photos of a champion orchid grower
The slides will sell- no copyrights.
My imagination is going crazy with this locker! The former owner could have been experimenting with nuclear radiation and its effects on orchids! If you have a Geiger counter you could runic over those rocks!
I sincerely hope that they are not watching this programme, it is their treasures, what a life they had.
It's disrespectful to stand and say whatever, whatever.....it's their lives and their things that he's got for free. I really hope they don't see the video. What a shame that you choose to be indifferent to what you say and I've always found him likeable, but it just went down....
Is it always something that he chooses to give them their photos and other returns if the older couple wants it.
THINK about how you behave and say in the future when you get a locker for free
Apparently their treasures weren't worth much to them if they were offering Jack money to get rid of them.
They wanted to pay these people to throw this stuff away
As you age material items become of less importance 🤷🏼♀️ Any thing of real value they have most likely kept or have passed on to family.
@@BangKaren Whatever.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. My late father was a chemist and we used to have stuff like that around the house that got repurposed. One of those beakers was perfect for making martinis in the 1960s. Lol
This was a fun locker to watch you go through it. For me, seeing the old coins was so cool. It had quite a few antiques, too. You were saying “mid-century” so much it made me wonder if I'm “mid-century” too? 😄 I'm 62, so I'm a little over half a century old. 😄 Thanks for being so kind and taking this locker for free from the elderly couple. Bless their hearts.
Jack , there are a lot of people who are looking for old papers, photographs, calendars to do journaling with contact through online media. The tubes are all over the place somebody would give you 10 to 20 bucks for that stuff. Go forward.
Old ephemera can be sold in lots! Crafters love it! Even the old books are desirable for crafters!
Yes that used to be true but more and more recently the ephemera lots have been bringing in very little money.
@@LockerNuts that’s too bad!
My heart is breaking seeing all of the old paperwork going in the garbage.
@@teta3577 Same here! Too bad I'm half the world away...
Those small Japanese Pots are for Bonsai and can be valuable depending on the potter.
There seems to be a lot of vintage & antique items $$$ there is much to profit from! Save the plant slides, send them to a botanical association with awards etc🌷🦋💐
I love the old school Xmas lights. Nothing beats the colours when lit.
Those trays could be sold to a bakery on Marketplace for a lot more than $3. They probably run more like $50-60 new.
I agree 100 percent !!
Poor Stockton they are 2nd class citizens
You can't beat free! The stoppers should fit the pyrex flasks.
Jack, please stop dissing Stockton. They do help contribute to your income a little and I’m sure there must be some nice people there. They probably don’t have a lot of money to spend on anything. Keep up the great videos. Marsha from Georgia
Very well said I’m in the same sinking boat as many in Stockton, Feeling the pinch of employment and the economy. Thankfully have decent health have issues but if I had the health set back Jack had they might as well bury me alive. Still plugging along wondering what the man upstairs plan is. To All Be Well Be Safe & Stay Blessed.
I’m sure the dealers who go to Stockton love Locker Nuts. I know I would. 😂❤
Copper washtub for wood stove. Antique
The bamboo is used to grow the Orchid. The round heavy aluminum piece might fit the small test tube used for radioactive isotopes disapation be careful
I knew someone would know what they were for! I came to see the answer.😊
The baking trays are called 'half sheet pans' if you wanted to look up. They are worth some money. Especially if older
Those were full sheet trays
Professional grade for restaurants
It's a copper wash tub boiler, used to "boil" clothes clean on an open fire or wood stove. +/- $75 to 100 in the Midwest if there are no holes in it.
Those aluminum trays sell for big money! They're double layered trays and air flows through them for a perfect two-sided browning. They sell for $60 each!
With the background of the owners those rocks may include some URANIUM ORE. Might want to get that checked out.
Especially since you are finding scholarly papers on atomic decay and other such topics Jack. I’ve read a lot about the history of atomic energy development and folks who accidentally hurt themselves on things they found in random places like storage lockers and basements. Please be careful. See if any of your buddies has a Geiger Counter.
They make glasses out of them and many other things people pay big money for
Thought you might be interested the Australian coin is one that is highly sought after. Copied from a Google search:-
The value of a 1943 Australian penny can range from $20 to $250, depending on where they were minted and their appearance. This is because the 1943 Australian penny experienced mass production compared to other coins, as the country was in the middle of World War 2 during 1943, meaning the need for currency was higher than normal.
I sold a scale pretty much like that for $75! I can’t believe someone at the better market wouldn’t buy it.
I’m cringing right now, just one of those stamps, even a loose one…any of them could be VERY COLLECTIBLE ! 🙏🏻❤️
Free is fun!!! Lots of MCM treasures in there in the Danish dinnerware and the glassware and some of the decor pieces I saw! Always fun to go through these with you, Jack! Thanks for another great video!
So the folks r in their 90s ,& thats a '90 yr old' locker? Nawp!
The two pieces you first picked look like Purple Heart and Ebony. Both are equatorial species and are generally very expensive. The long narrow piece of ebony could be worth $100-$200 dollars. It also looks like it would be long enough for a finger board for an acoustic guitar
Fun locker to go through. Thanks for sharing. And, yes I have been patiently waiting on the video from the estate sale. I love estate sales. Glad you mentioned it. Hope it is out soon.
Those shinny brite ornaments could be worth looking into. I know alot off people look for vintage Christmas decorations and things.
I still wanna see that a estate sale that you did last year
Did you lose the forage
Reach out to the local university science department about using the paperwork research . They might be able to use it
Also, if you can figure out which school he went to, perhaps call them. You might also want to call the company where he worked (or whichever company bought them).
Stamps can bring you money. My dad dealt in Stamps and when he passed brother sold them for quite a bit.
Given the age of the owner and the subject matter of his research, I think I would go over everything with a Geiger counter. And maybe take some iodine, too. Just saying.
This locker brought me back to my childhood! That blender is identical to the one my 90 year old mom still uses. And I think that rag doll is known as a Topsy Turvy doll; it has 2 heads, and you can flip the skirt, depending on which doll head you want to play with. I had one from the late 1800’s, which interestingly had a blonde head on one side, and a black doll on the other.
Awesomeness 🦋🌷spread the love. Great to see some people are not greedy but actually giving by helping others ☮️🇨🇦💜
Holy Toledo that coffee table is $$$$$$$
The Danish plates etc. can be worth decent money. Tons of collectors
Love the Gumps figurines.
Some of the old blenders can be worth alot of you find the right one
Free locker!😃 It’s was nice of you to help the elderly couple.😊
Old Christmas ornaments sell all year long on EBay worth some big money
for all the commenters, I really appreciate your group wisdom and the fact you are proposing more accurate description and price and where Locker Nuts can sell it.
Like a time warp. He sounds a very interesting guy to talk to, would love to read those letters n look at those old photos too. For someone on very little sleep you sure can work hard still. Nice one 👏👍🏻❣️
Oh my those flat sheet cake pans are bakery type ,heavy duty !! Those wood deer we used to make those years ago and sell them LOL
So cool! I would love half of that stuff, even the slides! 💖
The Crocks in the corner could be very valuable depending on the maker also
I wish more care and respect were used in the handling of this locker.
I'm sad you dumped all the old papers. The journal maker in me was yelling nooooo
I didnt know journal people use them, im not a collector but i know people that like to have old newspapers ... I bet he didnt want to list them, there is always people reasy to buy things .... Amd since was all free i dont understand why not trying selling all as a bundle 😅
Hmm...pottery shards, from Santa Fe? Hard to tell if those are legitimate collectables. Most pottery shards found in historical locations are forbidden to pick up.---Pictures at an Exhibition album in that stack. The first album I ever bought was a Leonard Bernstein's conducting album, music we played in High School band. Still one of my favorite music albums. I have it on CD & cassette! Lots of history behind that music for me.---I think those sand bags in the sewing box were for holding down delicate fabric when cutting out patterns, because the seamstress wanted to avoid pin holes.
Stoppers are for beakers 😀
You need to use the term, "there is no financial value" to us on some of these items because there is "value" in them.
I really love pewter and aluminum! I think it's for older folks like me 75 and above.
Everyone knows (or should know) what he means when he or anybody says that in the reselling business…
I know you are in business and clearing lockers to make money which is an amazing job I would love to do what you do. I do feel you have a responsibility when finding specialist research stuff especially old such as the orchids to see if it is of interest to horticultural societies. It’s part of history and would have taken years of work and may be important.
❤❤❤❤❤ Blessings and Love to all family friends and subscribers, thanks again for sharing another wonderful video with us. Love in the house from Trinidad West Indies ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
That bubble wrap is amazing...LOL
Well since you got it for free, then everything you sell those items for is gravy. I'd be happy if that was a locker I got for free to resell. A lot of those old newspapers are collectable. Please make sure the family gets back all those family photo's. Someone in that couples family will want them I'm sure.
Always enjoy your videos ❤
Hello Jack. Let's see what's inside of this free abandoned storage unit. Everything looks awesome.
Free is my favorite four letter word!
This couple probably did some epic entertaining back in the day!
I love these Pyrex! I found some on a garage sale and I keep flowers in it.
You should look at the dates of the newspapers that were used as wrapping some of the old pottery.
I was thinking the same thing!
Jack, seeing your videos its clear this locker is a rarity for you! Try not to be too quick to judge. We're talking beyond vintage! Research might mean big bucks for you! I hope you didn't make a dump run yet! Lol
happy to hear you still think of the estate sale episode hhh
I hope you check the value on the stamps. Even used old stamps can have significant value.
People will definitely buy old album and letters if they don’t want them back. We use them in making art journals and what are called junk journals.
You talked about cleaning the wax off the candle holder and then mentioned throwing it away. The quickest way to remove wax is to put the item in the freezer and after a few hours the wax just pops off. Super easy way to clean.
You always make it interesting Jack. That Japanese vase is so pretty. Take care ❤
💛🧡 I would have been fun to have them tell us about some of this stuff. I am sure they feel much lighter having the locker squared away.
WTG Jack & Jana. Stepping up to help an older couple and for no charge is awesome. There are some good suggestions in the comments below on the value of some of the items you found.
Nice job, Jack. Fun stuff. Pottery and coins are cool.
The fancy small pots are sometimes used to plant orchards
Jack the beakers and test tubes can be sold to florists. They are used for flowers. Those bamboo sticks are used to store the test tubes.
Wooden cork stoppers from the Black Forest in Germany. We had a collection from the 60's in our family.
what a fantastic locker with lots of neat intresting thing ive never seen before , a real treasure trove
Very interesting. Thanks Jack.
At the 35-minute mark - the old pottery pieces that you found look to me like ancient pottery shards from cliff dweller people that inhabited the Southwest four corners area some 3-5000 years ago.
Look out for reactive glass and such; in the early days they had radio active things in watches and clocks ⏰ 🙈 🍀
The 2 smoky glasses that are in with the barware look like glasses that came in boxes of Duz detergent .
There are Sterling silver buttons and cufflinks
I’m sure some one some where who is an avid plant and garden person will want those breakers for rooting plants!
The vintage ephemera is FABULOUS- put it in lots, it will sell!
It is copper. It can bring a bit of money. The glassware "Bavarian" is a bit of money.
There are people selling orchid slides on ebay
I went to Vanguard university and we had an orchid greenhouse. If they still have it, they might like the orchid slides.
All that old papers is great for junk journaling !!!
Hey I watch a couple that does antiques and you really need to look into some of that really old. Don’t be quick to discount vintages glass and kitchen items and China. I know you want to turn it over quickly for profit. 😊❤
Those Shiny Bright ornaments you were unexcited about usually sell for decent money. I sold a decent size box of them for $80. I always pick up Shiny Bright for the right price. I am not sure what kind of margins you look for in reselling but I would keep those to sell for sure. Especially since you had them in the boxes and the colors looked to be in excellent condition. Also, some old ornaments that look like stained glass can be shell and those in sets like you have can be worth money. Even so, with as many as you had in sets, they would probably sell pretty decently. Everyone has their niche though.
That little table looks home made, definitely wouldn't let it go for less than 100. mx
The wood rocks and bamboo are used to display the orchids Jack I think there are somethings worth quite a bit of money for example the box of stuff with the brass/ copper thing you thought was mid century modern I think it is and as you said these things are highly sought after as is Scandinavian stuff as that's the mid century modern stuff that started the 50's design
Take those aluminum trays to DeAnza. They are great.
It's copper and my dad use one to boil the butchered chickens.. It helped to remove the feathers.. It looks very old and people like them now for planters..
Slides will sell to junk journal/ hobby people 😉. Even the old coinbags they really love to buy. And stamps, tickets, old envelopes everything thats old 😂
Jack, please take time and really go through the old Christmas ornaments. There is value even at this time of year. Also those aluminum baking sheets are heavy duty like what would be sold in a store for chefs and such.
Jack… this is interesting locker… look to local universities, botanical society, don’t know if you’ve ever seen bargain barons, Canadian couple that have old old house… they buy things to decorate their house.. I’d say 80% of stuff they buy they keep… once again, this is great locker!!!
Oh and the rubber stoppers where for the Pyrex containers
They are called conical flasks. Used in many laboratories
The glass bowl with the aluminum or some kind of metal top and carrier is definitely mid-century modern and could be worth quite a bit.
