    When I think of Watkins Glen, I think of the 1973 "Summer Jam" with The Allman Brothers Band, The Band, and the Dead. Did not know it was such a beautiful place!

    The park service did a nice job of fusing man's creation with God's creation rather seamlessly. I really liked the tunnels.

    I grew up there and watching this sure brought back many memories. Not much has changed there in 60 yrs. They used to have a rest area where you could wade out into the water along with some stone chairs to sit.

    I grew up in western NY. Watkins Glen is my absolute favorite park in the world! I've been there countless times as a kid. Now I live in Oregon, near the Columbia gorge, and though a beautiful area, it doesn't compare. There is nothing like Watkins Glen, it's like being safe in the busom of mother nature herself. Thanks for the video, you made me a little bit homesick for NY, in a good way.

    That was a unique water falls, looked like it was flowing from the side. I just can't get over the terrific force of the waters its really something.The beautiful rocks how could that be its just out of this world, the beauty is awsome. Boy the mountians must be filled with water,, do they ever go dry or empty? I am just aw struch with so much water. Its mind blasting.

    • @patrickduffy8881
      @patrickduffy8881 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The flow of water was pretty high for August, there had to have been rain or thunderstorms a day or two before Cliff’s visit. A lot of places you saw small waterfalls and dripping from the side walls would stop after a couple days without rain. I’ve visited the park at least 20 times over the course of the last 50 years, I’ve never seen the main water flow completely dry up. It’s amazing in Autumn.

    What an amazingly beautiful place on Mother Earth! I've never been there but I think it just went on my bucket list. Thanks so much for taking us here WW! With all those layers of stone I wonder if there are any fossils? Seems like a good place for them. What a huge amount of effort in making the trails and stone walls! This is video to watch over in the winter when it's hard to imagine how things become so grow over and green. Living in the woods I'm always amazed year after year how I can see long distances in the woods and in summer, can't see beyond the edges. We live in a beautiful land. Thanks So Much WW! What an exciting and enjoyable trip. It is something one should see and experience in their lifetime. Peace and Balance and Travel in the Woodlands! DaveyJO

    My family was driving Watkins Glen on vacation and had to go through a pretty bad tourist trap traffic, but turning lemons into lemonade, I looked to the west and saw what appeared to be a waterfall. I decided that I would hike up to it on some down time. My family and I were pleasantly surprised by the number of waterfalls and the beauty of the trail. I expressed to my children multiple times how the work put into the trail is very impressive, and would have taken lots of effort to build and maintain. It is a beautiful place!

    Hi Cliff: I'm posting this comment in July 2022, just discovered your channel a couple weeks ago and have watched many of your videos so far. I've lived my whole life here in Upstate NY. Currently I reside in Elmira, NY which is only about 25 mi from Watkins Glen. I drive there several times during the Summer and walk this trail. Back in late 1980s to mid 1990s I lived in a small town only a mile or so from Watkins Glen and used to walk this trail (and all the other trails on the South Rim) all the time. When I noticed today you had a video where you walked The Gorge Trail back in 2019 when you were in NYS on business, I had to watch it. Great video, hope you get back up in this area again. Also, you were right, it is best to come on weekday. However, if you're able to get to the Trail prior to 8am, it is normally a lot less busy than even what you experienced. Sometimes you have almost all the trail for yourself early in the morning. And yes, the park is stunning and a gem that we have here in NYS. Anyone who hasn't experienced it should try to sometime. Take care...

(that I have seen) Quite appreciated, in order to show others who are at a distance. The water was at low flow but nice to see the smaller falls off the sides still dripping well. Was nice to see the enthusiasm of a first time visitor. I’ll add that the souvenir shop is at the end of Jacob’s Ladder and the state park pool is near that. Campgrounds are also connected to the Glen.
