    I’ve just bought one for winter road running. What an AMAZING bit of kit. Can’t recommend this enough! Doesn’t even feel like you’re wearing a head torch, and the lighting performance is excellent.

    Light directly in the lens makes the video very hard to watch. Just a tip if you review headlamps often. Otherwise good video.

    Great review! This would be a great lamp, a red light in the back is important for running at night in town. Note: lumen is already a plural, so lumens is not right, 425 lumen is the max brightness.

    Have you had a chance to try the Fenix HM65R-T for running? It's my ride-or-die headlamp, works really well for me. The Boa adjustment for me works great as well for different toques etc. Always a perfect fit, and WAY more than enough light.

    I purchased one from LE Lighting Ever to use at night to check on my garden and bees and it's been doing an incredible job. They are very very useful!

      Nocturnal bees?

    • @JohnElHanafi
      @JohnElHanafi ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@StephenJReid lol No just regular honey bees. Through different climate they have different behavior like hanging out at the entrance and or ventilate the hive when it's hot out, I like to be out and check on them sometimes and see what they are doing!

    You know why I don’t like the review. Because now I want one. You covered all the bases with your demonstration and the headlamp is very reasonable priced. Just find your channel today Some far I am enjoying your channel and your humour. Vancouver Island Canada

    Informative video! Is the battery replaceable? In some ultras it is mandatory to carry extra batteries.

    • @StephenJReid
      @StephenJReid  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No it’s a built in rechargeable battery so might not meet those requirements. Unless the race also allows for a backup light instead. That’s what I do anyway. Always carry a spare headlamp in case my main one breaks or I manage to loose it

    Thanks! Question: can you tilt the light down or up too? So you got it strapped to you head, and then if you've got traffic comming towards you, you don't want to blind them. The light I use I can move it up or down.. but it does not have a back light, and it also does not have this flood light. I'm biocurious.

    • @StephenJReid
      @StephenJReid  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Of yes of course, did I not show that 🙈 yeah it tilts up and down

      @@StephenJReid A great, I thought I did see it on the light, but I wasn't completely sure. Thanks! I guess this makes me switch!

      I should have mentioned it, kinda a key feature, my bad. This is the headtorch I've used for night runs in mountains too. They do have a bigger version with even better battery but this one has worked well for me.

    Gah! As a fellow glasses wearer I clicked the link hoping you'd cracked the peaked hat problem.
    I like to wear a ball cap to keep the worst of the rain off my glasses when I'm running.
    No room below the peak and above it casts a weird shadow in front.

    • @StephenJReid
      @StephenJReid  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve worn it under the cap, not ideal but really to old solution apart from just wearing a beanie.
      I’ve started wearing contacts a lot more when I’m running as the glasses drive me insane as most of the time they either steam up or get covered in rain

    • @SamStack
      @SamStack ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I'll have to order up some more disposables. They are a bit of a faff but the best solution really.

    • @StephenJReid

      Yeah and I have really bad dry eye so I’m on the ones that cost £2 per pair so definitely don’t wear them everyday!

    I got one of these following watching your recommendation,as need a headtorch for night runs.
    Thought I got a bargain,£30 new.
    My first use this evening,taking dog out.Had on full power and was out for 15 minutes,it was down to half charge on getting home.
    Is this usual?
    Not looking good for three hour night runs😢👎

    • @StephenJReid
      @StephenJReid  ปีที่แล้ว

      That doesn’t sound good! Should do 4hours on full brightness. Sounds suspiciously cheap though, where did you get it? It’s only out so very surprised to hear it’s half the RRP.

    I love my biolite 330 and absolutely can see they’ve nailed all the things that I would change. Only other thing on my list is somehow making the band detachable. In the tropics my headtorch gets really sweaty and stinky. Otherwise I love it. Better than anything on the market. My first one recently died and I replaced it with another one. Wish the 425 was available in Australia. Only in EU right now.
    Nerdy question: how did you set the camera up to film the light demonstration? I’ve tried so many times to film with the head torch on and get nothing useful.

      I think I used manual exposure settings for the night shots. Take a bit of trial and error to get it looking right
