    Man, I found your cjannel just today. And have seen like 7 videos! Good, normal 4WDs without crazy mods, beautiful scenery, cool Landrovers, no shouting, no product promotions....

    My late father and I did this trip way back in the early/mid 1960's in my first Landrover, a Series 2 SWB. It was I that introduced the trip to the Canterbury Landrover Owners Club after that trip. My father had a very old map that clearly showed the Merrijigs hotel, (amongst other places long gone), and he though we could have lunch there.....when we got there, we could only laugh. We had bought food with us, We weren't THAT confident obviously. Looks a bit flasher than our first trip......lol

    Great trip Hayden. I’m guessing the old boy loves to drive just as much as you, and he looks to steer it well. You’ve got some trick looking tracks in your neck of the woods.

      Thanks. Yeah he still loves driving it !! Not bad for 70 yrs old !!
      We are incredibly lucky to have all this at our back door step

    The CDL is still on the Discovery 2 .. it just doesn't have the linkage to operate it fitted, however, there are kits to do just that.
    It can even be operated by a spanner if need be.

    I had a rear Britpart shock break in exactly the same way/place as Ben's @ 5:46 on the 1st time out using them. Load of rubbish (being polite 😄). Reading the comments re the Disco CDL, not all Discovery 2 had the difflock fitted without the linkage, early one's did, later one's didn't but was offered as an option. I'm more of a Defender guy so I'm not sure what year this took place, but I think it may have been around the time when they changed from the 10p to 15p version of the Td5 (2002).

    I seem to remember reading somewhere that all the Disco 2s had the difflock fitted but if it wasn't optioned they left the button off the dash. If so it's a simple upgrade. Might be confused but worth a check maybe?

    Hayden, we got the same Landys- curious about your air snorkel, are you glad it's on there and do you think you need it for the level of thrashing about that you do? Thx✌️

    • @hayden_jones
      @hayden_jones  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In the past I've had the landy cross some pretty high rivers where the snorkel is definitely a must. It's one of those things you may only need once or twice a year, but you'd regret not having when it's needed.

    Great video local track i take the defender on when its time to stretch the legs, hows the track up the machinery house? last time i was up there was a section at the start slipped away had big ruts off cambered into the river, they fixed that?

    • @hayden_jones
      @hayden_jones  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Andrew. Yeah they've fixed it, track was in pretty good condition considering all the rain.
      Are you the Andrew that loaned Ben the shocks ?

    Gday Hayden ,nice video.I went in there years ago on a dirtbike.But I think we went in from the shingle pit near slab creek hut or something which I saw you go out on on another video,looked like an epic trip in a 4WD,do you reckon you'd get an adventure bike up that track as a fair bit heavier than a dirtbike (ie extra 90 kg).

    • @hayden_jones
      @hayden_jones  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, yeah it should be pretty straight forward, nothing outrageous. The river at the end has a few big rocks in it, but pretty easy really. 👍🏼
