Literally two guests before Pauley Bow eloquently described why they like the OP-XY and they would consider buying one, the they say "how could anyone consider buying it?" - lol they just told you why they would and the reasons for it.
Great episode. TE has the reputation of being great at design because they know how to imitate Apple who knows how to imitate Dieter Rams. It’s kind of like someone “discovering” a new music genre that’s existed forever.
I'm with Paulee on generative note making, etc. I really want what's in my head to go in to the sequencer without being interfered with. The fun for me is in making my own manipulations to what I've done as I go along. I love what I've seen of the Polyend Synth and I love my Tracker, so that way feels like a no brainer for me and a lot less expensive. 🙂
@@sonicstate I can see that. The Polyend allows for one of its 3 synths to change chords on the others, but I get that's not as complex. I also think, from what I've so far heard, the Polyend engines sound far more interesting and certainly have depth. Although I guess when it comes to sound that is subjective.
@jonbirchartist weirdly, as with the little OP-Z this has a more deterministic vibe, less generative, so was surprised at that comment form Paulee as a fellow tracker fan
Paulee is 1000% RIGHT about the TE, it looks nice as an object but the generative mambo giambo sequencer is pointless for professional music and what make a track special that is the “SOUND UNIQUENESS” in the OP sounds are basic digital cliché. Paulee speak from a musician point of view while the TE fan club speak from amatorial never finish a track point if view. BRAVO PAULEE 👏🏻, straight shooter
Richard thinks it’s not over priced.? He is completely off his trolly. You can get gear that’s even more capable & higher spec for half the price. This isn’t about value. It’s about branding. It’s like paying for the air that’s in a bag of crisps.
@15:06 not *"to a degree"* it is _absolutely_ the *HiPsTeR* device, and at that price, you're _practically obligated_ to *evangelize* about it, least you feel the *PAIN* of what you actually spent on this. 🤣
I see the op-zy as giving more variation than generative. I hear Paulee when he said the engines are a bit vanilla though. But the story about not socializing w someone at a gathering because they are playing a certain synth was cringey.
Re: Logic Yet again free update for cheapest pro DAW 😀 10 years without price hikes- I just wished that Cubase, Live and Reason offered this update scheme 😉 Ps; The Fly in the pudding is Logic Pro for iPad - subscription only 👎
Wow, this felt like some sort of propaganda episode, very weird. Love how nose-out-of-joint this TE stuff makes the synthfluencer brigade, really reveals some personality traits 😉🤣
@@sonicstate yup, that was a bit of an acidic and contextless comment...I meant tonally; the vehemence that two of your panel wielded against the Teenage Engineering product had a sort of zeal feel to the comments :) just pulled me up short a bit, but I guess it's par for the course with TE stuff though

Indeed, I listened to their points, but I still didn’t get it. I think they’ll have to sit me down with charts and explain it in more depth 😂

Paulee please make the dark Macarena 🖤
It’s amazing how reliant we are in this day and age on cloud 😉
and it can be gone with a snap of a finger , just like that

Interesting, I think it's designed more for rhythmic variations and transpositions

Brilliant podcast as usual 👍👍👍
Black Friday... got my eye on a new 61 or 88 key midi keyboard. looking at a few models
What's so funny is I also started singing out loud the first time I watched that OPXY video. I guess it just inspires impromptu vocals :)
DaVinci rules, even in basic, version 👍
Late to the party - time difference 🙁
Ready, watching now, munching on popcorn and have some beer ready…

Dark macarena joke was hilarious xD
Funny how the “multiply” FX is symbolized by a division symbol. 😂
Xanderbeanz nailed it , the synthengines are mediocre as fuck

Rich builds and ships a lot of products so may be taking *hidden* developmental and material costs into account? Maybe, I dunno.

They didn’t want to seem to join in and play on any of the other synths ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

They do have the added advantage of it being linked to their own hardware, so its easier to keep it affordable
