I'm absolutely enamored with the incredible sound and energy that Vocal Point never fails to produce! Here at BYU they are a big deal and we, the students, get many opportunities to see and hear their talents. They are a great bunch of guys and I'm hoping to see them succeed all the way to the top of the competition. Go Vocal Point!!! We love you!
These boys definitely had talent, but I feel like their appeal is about watching them as much as listening to them, which isn't a bad thing at all, it just doesn't translate into record sales as much.
I love living in Provo ,Utah and knowing so many wonderful examples of Latter Day living. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the way to go.
Vocal point are the best .. there still huge worldwide now ok its different ppl in the band now but this group legacy lives through all byu vocal point fans and all lds all over the world
So sad to hear, but thanks for letting me know. It's great that he was able to be by his side when he passed. God bless him and his family and the group.
WoW! This group is amazing.... Wish you could have have concert tour in Philippines.. Im proud a member of Latter-day saints... more talent, more fun......
You are very wonderful singers, you give me goosebumps on all the songs I have listened to you that you have sung. Hope you will always continue your singing, it is so inspirational and makes you feel good inside. Your religion does not matter just that you are singing for our savior.
So. Polished. Their bass is obscenely good. Honestly, all of this is incredible. Other than Cat's Pajamas these guys were by far the most polished of all the groups. But really the best part about them is that they seem to genuinely care for one another. I like this group a lot. I'm not Mormon, but I am jealous. :)
B+? Are you kidding? They have such great blend and can sing all sorts of music from hymns, to spirituals, to swing, to rock. Check out their Game Day thing they do for BYU's football games. Hands down the most versatile group in the competition. And I'm not even from BYU or mormon, they just blew me away so much I had to look up everything they've done.
I WAS gonna post - it's NOT a Brian setzer Orchestra song, don't you guys know anything...... however, that was clearly BSO's interpretation of the song and it was fantastic. I'm blown away. Mikey xx
@darkmatter83 Agreed. I've actually been really impressed with the judges this time... mostly Ben Folds of course (he's been an AMAZING judge, and very funny, too!), but the other two have been acceptable as well. I think this is the first show where there hasn't been a judge that gets on my nerves. For that, I give it a huge THANK YOU!
yeah, ditto, "how much fun was that?"...that made me feel really good. isn't it great to have anything at all to do with BYU when you see guys from the school do so well! (btw, wasn't it cool how the judges kept their language clean when talking to our guys?)
One of the best two or three performances of the night (behind Delilah, and on par with Afro-Blue). High energy, good arrangement, good performance. Better than the Yellowjackets, it'll be interesting to see how they compare to the Dartmouth Aires and the Deltones (and Soul'd Out) this upcoming Monday.
YJ and Delilah is the best on that night to be honest. Yellow Jackets clearly shine at the first episodes but then overshone by Dartmouth Aires and Vocal Point.
@rts12a you know there are eight more groups yet to be seen right? Vocal Point was great and i absolutely loved this performance but the group Delilah is going to be hard to pass up.. my money's on them to win the whole thing. and Afro Blue, Urban Method, Yellow Jackets were good too.. I do agree that Cats Pajamas should have stayed in lieu of Kinfolk 9 but they both ha sub-par performances.
Here's the Mormon Woofenpoofs. I'm LDS and I grew up listening to VocalPoint, but this is one song I don't wish they did. They can do better slow songs but whatever, I guess the judges didn't want to go harsh on the Mormon boys.
@celticfinatic Keith was the lead for Grace Kelly, but the 2010-2011 edition of Vocal Point (these guys) actually didn't sing that song that year. So it wouldn't have been an option - furthermore, the Yale Whiffenpoofs performed it as their signature song in the 2nd season.
Cats Pajammas were great, and should have stayed. Vocal Point is now the only reason to watch this show. You are great! If this Sign Off show doesn't realize the real winning groups, I'm hoping GLEE is watching and will put both your groups in their show.
They sing songs from today's age too. I was kinda sad they didnt do grace kelly, they do a wayyy better verison then the poofs. Though I like them too. I thought they would do this or Just the way you are.
It didn't occur to me while watching the show, but I think was the only song that wasn't some kind of big, tragically emotional, Backbeats kind of song. I like them more now that I realize they had the guts to be happy when everyone else was going dark.
okay...mrduckbear11.... "back in the day" songs as you call them are not that bad. you'd probably be surprised how much more sound and "energy" if you want to call it cause it sounded.... bigger! idk another word for it.... today's music just doesn't really have that oomph because it's becoming more and more electronic...I like "old" music like the 80's or 70's and this song is a great song and by mormons! Makes it even better! XD
@harborwolf22 during the medley week Comitted (hands down the best of last season) came back to do a medley that wasn't as good as at least two of the groups still competing this season. Just saying...
Omg, I wanna see them do Footloose on the show! They did a great job. And - wow! - hot stuff, these Mormon boys! Where does their gene pool come from? I feel like I need to merge with it for my future childrens' sakes. I think the stereotype that they should have addressed was the polygamy stereotype; I know most Mormons aren't polygamists, but the fact that they didn't address it looks a little fishy. Especially with the "group dates" mention...
That lead singer is seriously AMAZING. Killer voice!
McKay is the current director of BYU Vocal Point
I loved Vocal Point. I thought that either them or Afro Blue should have been in the final 3 rather than Urban Method
Totoo
I loved this group!!! I wish they would do they're version of footloose they did in the intro, that sounded awesome!!
A smile on my face the whole time. You guys rock!
"Well I wanna talk about my childhood."
LOL BEN HAHA
They are so much fun to watch! What a great representation of BYU. I'm so excited to see them go far on the show!
I saw them back in January in Oregon at the ICCA competition. They were amazing and i absolutely loved their performance! Loved them!
Great group! Vocal Point You're the best!
that very last chord was AMAZING!
These guys are fu...I mean frigging good. Effing Mormons
Great performance Elders.
These boys definitely had talent, but I feel like their appeal is about watching them as much as listening to them, which isn't a bad thing at all, it just doesn't translate into record sales as much.
I AM SOOO PROUD OF MY YOUNG BROTHERS IN CHRIST.
They're coming ot my school for a performance in March. We already bought tickets about a week ago. I'm so excited! These guys are awesome!!!
I love living in Provo ,Utah and knowing so many wonderful examples of Latter Day living. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the way to go.
They should have gotten at LEAST 3rd place! Afro Blue and Urban Method we're NOT better than them!
I think AB were as good or better.
3 grand finalist should be Pentatonix, Vocal Points, and Afro Blue.
Luis Vazquez Morning I was literally just thinking the same thing!!!
True but the problem is the 10th Performance of Vocal Point
True
Vocal point are the best .. there still huge worldwide now ok its different ppl in the band now but this group legacy lives through all byu vocal point fans and all lds all over the world
So sad to hear, but thanks for letting me know. It's great that he was able to be by his side when he passed. God bless him and his family and the group.
Best group this year!
Super attractive mormon guys who can ding and dance?

Lol! These guys are such dorks, I love it! They are hilarious!
WoW! This group is amazing.... Wish you could have have concert tour in Philippines.. Im proud a member of Latter-day saints... more talent, more fun......
@ichitafalls
I was going from my admittedly faulty memory, but I remember the Afro-Blue song now, and you're absolutely right.
I love the Sing-Off judges :D
They're really smart and funny.
Mormon it up, this is awsome its a full mormon group.
:D
You are very wonderful singers, you give me goosebumps on all the songs I have listened to you that you have sung. Hope you will always continue your singing, it is so inspirational and makes you feel good inside. Your religion does not matter just that you are singing for our savior.
Great job guys! Keep rockin' it
Where's the LOVE button!?!?!? LOVEEEEEE it!
Totally Awesome!! Way to go!!!!
THEY SHOULDVE WON! so damn deserving of the title! They were so underrated
They cant Pentatonix or Darthmouth Aires can
But still big fan of Vocal Point here
So. Polished. Their bass is obscenely good. Honestly, all of this is incredible. Other than Cat's Pajamas these guys were by far the most polished of all the groups. But really the best part about them is that they seem to genuinely care for one another. I like this group a lot. I'm not Mormon, but I am jealous. :)
I really liked this.
Felt like the lost act of Forever Plaid, I love it.
That base is ridiculous... listen to it specifically. I can't BELIEVE it's not an instrument. Wow, incredible.
Also the song is called Jump, Jive and Wail
I can't believe they filmed segments from "jump, jive and wail" outside the temple
Amazing what wardrobe and hair can do.
Going the concert on the 16th baby!
I WAS gonna post - it's NOT a Brian setzer Orchestra song, don't you guys know anything...... however, that was clearly BSO's interpretation of the song and it was fantastic. I'm blown away.
Mikey xx
now THIS is epic!

the end of the song was so amazing!! mormons sing very well

@TLforever95 You're right. All of them went on two-year missions, and among the 9 of them, they speak 7 languages.
Go Mormons!!! Haha love them!! They are so funny!! My prayers are for Ben and his family I hope he gets to be on this show atleast once -3
@rts12a you know there are eight more groups yet to be seen right? So proud to be a mormon!! :D

Starting from 3:14 to 3:35 just made it for me lol. The beat-boxing had a swag groove to it. Made you wanna node ur head lol.
My second fave group.....behind Afro-Blue :)
We love you Ross! (The Advocates)
I am in love with McKay!!!
So how is Ben's father? Is he still with us? Just an update would be great!
Cats Pajammas were great, and should have stayed. Vocal Point is now the only reason to watch this show. You are great!

They sing songs from today's age too. I was kinda sad they didnt do grace kelly, they do a wayyy better verison then the poofs. Though I like them too. I thought they would do this or Just the way you are.

5:47
Nick: Ben anything else you wanna add?
Ben: Well I wanna talk about my Childhood.
lmfao
Man McKay's voice is so budda xD What shawn said about one of the memebers in Committed last season xD
This group kinda reminds me of Glee's Dalton Warblers.... but Vocal Point FTW!!!!!!!!
@RCHairbrush The Cat's Pajamas didn't do a dark song. Neither did Afro-Blue.
they should sing "i believe" from the book of mormon musical!
Mormons in da house!! SAY WHAT!!!
YOU KNOW WHAT IT IS!!
Coolest guys ever.
okay...mrduckbear11.... Ben Folds is so cool that he is zero degrees kelvin.
.....did anybody else just fall out of their chair when Keith hit that high note on the final chord??????
The guy at 0:45 is my cousin!!!!!!
wait i didnt finish the episode which two teams got eliminated??
And Michael too. (8/9) Did Tyler ever solo?
The best besides Pentatonix!
True qwq
True
I'm an Atheist and this makes me want to go to BYU for my Music Degree. :p
The end gave me a chordgasm...
That ending high note from Keith... what just happened?!?!?!
yeah bring back the sixties ^_^ !!!!
Jimmer is about to get his most popular BYU celebrity award taken away.
@harborwolf22 during the medley week Comitted (hands down the best of last season) came back to do a medley that wasn't as good as at least two of the groups still competing this season.
Just saying...
LDS POWER!!!!
THE WIGGLES.!!!! ^__^
Omg, I wanna see them do Footloose on the show! They did a great job. And - wow! - hot stuff, these Mormon boys! Where does their gene pool come from? I feel like I need to merge with it for my future childrens' sakes.

Lol, ginger ale.
