    It looks like you were doing some running on Fiesta Island here in San Diego! Small world! I did a practice half IM on fiesta yesterday, and cramped on the run, which brought me to this video. Thanks for all the tips!

    It happens naturally when I get off the bike and straight into a run my cadence is always higher than normal but it doesn’t feel bad or jellyish

    • @heatherfell_oly
      @heatherfell_oly 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Radio Station I have experienced the same in the past. I'd look at your bike position and address your hip flexor length beforehand. If it's not from hip flexors then it could equally be down to your nutrition so look at that too. Good luck.

    Hi, I was wondering for a longer distance race such as a ironman 70.3. Should I race with compression socks to help relieve pressure after the bike? also should I race with cycling socks or running socks? Thank you and great video as usual

    • @heatherfell_oly
      @heatherfell_oly 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yahya Baali
      If you don't usually run in compression socks then do not change anything for race day. As for socks many athletes don't even wear socks on the bike and comfort in your running shoe is far more important so I'd always opt for running socks for the bike and run over that distance. Hope that helps. H

    Brick runs bricks and then just when u think you've done enough brick runs.... MORE BRICK RUNS!!!!🤗🤗🤗😂 speaking of running though I just started trying interval training and am having a hard time getting my heart rate back down to zone 2. Any suggestions I end up running at such a slow pace I feel like I should just be walking

    • @heatherfell_oly
      @heatherfell_oly 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Connor there is nothing wrong with a walk between really hard intervals, or try doing hill reps so you can jog recover down the hill to give your HR more chance of dropping quickly.

    Is it possible to run too much for a brick workout? I do a long bike then and hour or more run after at close to race pace.

    • @marblsy2181
      @marblsy2181 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      you dont actually need that much. around 6K is enough. There is not really much use to run more besided putting more stress onto your system. IF that is what you want and you do it only once, then do it. Otherwise I wouldnt

    • @heatherfell_oly
      @heatherfell_oly 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      RobandDana Duxbury
      That's a lot of running and not needed. I'd recommend keeping your brick runs shorter then putting in another quality run away from the bike.

  • @berthull9333
    @berthull9333 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    4:51 rack your bike in your own spot and don't infringe on the space of your neighbors. It would be a shame to find your bike damaged when you come to retrieve it after the race.

  • @jackhammer40k_

    Cadence is partly a factor of power. Increasing cadence for a given force will increase power

    • @DanielMooreDJ
      @DanielMooreDJ 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      EatRideGrow actually personally myself I go faster when grinding a lower cadence than a faster one

    • @jackhammer40k_
      @jackhammer40k_ 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@DanielMooreDJ Then you increase your force and decrease your cadence. Your power output might be the comparable
