I think this would be seen as evidence against himself and it would have been much smarter to NOT say anything, and not incriminate himself. An apology should be saved when the prosecution made a verdict (or during mediation) as a final plea statement to reduce the damage. There is no out now, gotta pay the piper.

The investors in at $3 m are at the point of no return so either they need to add $2 m to payback the consignees against a much larger equity stake in TPGs company and earning potential, or get back cents on the dollar on their existing investment. I can see how some investors still stick with him.

I couldn't rule out that Anthony owes considerably less and got some furious consignees on his hands about a much less sexy debt;
He's then taking the opportunity to turn this into another bizarre publicity stunt to distract the furious consignees that there's something bigger going on with a massive sexy 5 million debt.
