I always love the dogs license talk.
I think dogs really do feel that way about it.
My elderly dog Lady, named after the movie, had to have her collar taken off when it was getting too heavy for her. The look she gave us nearly broke me.
Had to give her a lot of love to make up for it. We eventually buried her collar with her and I miss her all the time.

I was laughing at Ellie as she reacted emotionally throughout the movie, until I caught myself tearing up, as well. When my son was a toddler, he watched this movie 3 or 4 times a day. I still know every word.

In the spirit of reacting to great/classic Disney animation, I *highly recommend* "The Fox and The Hound" (1981). I think it might be the best animated feature Disney's ever made, it's definitely my personal favorite, a criminally overlooked and underrated gem. One scene in particular (I won't spoil it, if you've seen it you know exactly when it happens) absolutely *destroys me* every time, it rips my heart out and compels me to weep.

I totally know what you mean. You remember that scene when the old lady has to say goodbye to her fox? It was 2 or 3 weeks before i had to move out when me and my ex girlfriend seperated, i decided to leave our cat with her because i had some good reasons to do so - well i´m regretting that now 😅. Idk why but in that time i watched that scene on TH-cam........god this broke my heart because i was about to say goodbye to my cat also. The little guy was laying on my belly and my chest during i´ve watched this scene and i began to cry. So i took his little head in my hand and kissed him a lot and i told him "i love you my boy". On top of that he started licking my face a bit as if he wanted to return it and saying the same to me.......since then i can´t watch that movie without getting sad and start to think about my little boy 😔

Yes, I know that scene. It always used to make me cry when I was little, and now it's even worse as an adult after losing my cat of 19 years. I know it's not quite the same in the movie, but good lord, the facial expressions and body language and that damn song just destroy me. I love that movie, but it comes for your heart.

😎👍 The scene at 21:33 marked an important first in the history of animation. "Peg" was voiced by Peggy Lee, who was a big star at the time. It was the first time that Disney used a major celebrity as vocal talent for one of their animated features. Needless to say, it was a harbinger of things to come. 🐱🐶

13:08 That song sung by the cats has lived rent free in my head for over 30 years ever since I used to watch this movie as a toddler lol. I love these old hand drawn animated movies. The amount of hand craftsmanship that went into them is so respectable, and there's just a certain feel that these movies give that just isn't matched today.

Such a classic! I just knew Ellie was going to cry from the cuteness of it all. This was one of my favorites growing up. I love how they made almost every scene low to the ground as from the dog’s point of view. Peg’s song about the Tramp is probably my favorite part.

I really was not expecting such emotion. It reminded her so much of the old pet, and that is the weight we carry. I still miss our two pups we had growing up, so I have great empathy (yep - tears shed). So glad you got the old sound problem cleared up - I couldn't watch before. Now I can finally subscribe.

    Ladies
Remember this movie was made in the late 40's to early 50's because Disney had artists and animators doing hand drawn animation cells. This process took years to complete. Walt had maybe hundreds of workers in certain departments working on each movie. Walt with his people 1st have a storyboard setup for each animated movie. He and the writers, artists, and animators discussed the storyboard. As they worked on each Disney movie, Walt have voice actors do a table read 1st. Then voice actors have their lines recorded. Walt has music composed with an orchestra. This is why this movie like others from Disney are so iconic!

Originally, Trusty was suppoused to die when the Pound wagon fell over him but Walt remembered how the kids cried in the theaters when Bambi's mom were shot by Man (it was so bad that the theater staff had to stop the film until the parents could console their kids before continue running it), asked to change the ending so that Trusty survives with a broken leg.

20:53 This part at the pound. I hate it. Looking at their faces that tells me, "Please get me out of here. I don't want to die here. I wanted live!"
It tears me apart. 22:02 That part is dark

The spaghetti scene was almost cut because Walt thought it was going to look ridiculous with dogs eating spaghetti, but Frank Thomas wanted to prove him wrong so he did the whole animation alone without any layouts. When he was done, Thomas showed it to Disney who was so impressed that he changed his mind and got stuck in the movie.

Although Tramp/Butch was intended to be a terrier mutt, the animators based him mostly on a breed called a Border Terrier. One was featured in There's Something About Mary (a female, though they called her a male) and another (disheveled, with the somewhat darker "blue and tan" coloration) is voiced by Will Ferrel in Strays, coming this June 2023. Not my favorite _movies,_ but they're great dogs.
