I ordered a early production M1 carbine from RTI.... Saginaw S'G' early production 1.8 million that has some IP parts on it...completely correct based on my books so this was never refurbished. Bore is bright shiny, muzzle wear 2 on the gage.. Stock has numerous dings but no cracks and finish is well worn from the African sun. It did have alot of grime as you describe but it cleaned up easily. Overall I am pleased with it. Have not gotten to the range with it yet.
You have mentioned using olive oil to clean the stock. Have not seen any one else mention that method on youtube. Can it be that easy? Please demonstrate :)
I never heard of using olive oil until Koba mentioned it. It tried it and it worked like a charm. You rub the oil on the wood and the grunge comes right off. You simply repeat the process until you like what you see. Change the rag or paper towel often. I'm a believer now!
Hi found your channels and have found it very useful. I have recently located a 1940 Terni made M 38 . in 6.5mm in fair to good with a frosty bore but no pitting I run priv cos that what we can get here in Australia. any how as we say here.. Cheers Mate
Koba it looks like you did OK so far.. they are surplus after all. Ah M 1 carbine right now are crazy, 1300 to 2000 $ for a nice one on gun broker. 800 900 $ for an import, an ALL MIXED PARTS
