Our Captain is in top form. If one has not "tasted" DJI or Autel I'm quite sure that this would be an option. Only one real issue is that there are no legs which means that it will be easy to damage the camera lens. Thank you for your enthusiasm.

Captain Drone, I really appreciate your thorough and unbiased reviews. I ordered the SJRC Z5 5G model for its WiFi range. If it gives me 300 - 400 m. as advertised I'll be a happy camper. Haven't seen any other drone in this price range that provides close to 600 m. control distance or 14 minutes of flight time. Best part is its sub-250 gram weight so not (yet) subject to Transport Canada Drone Regulations. If you ever get bored I'd like to see a comparison review of the SJRC Z5 5G versus the C-Fly Dream (another sub 250 gram drone). I also hope at some point in the near future DJI comes out with A Spark Lite, perhaps a hybrid Ryze Tello/ DJI Spark combo giving us the low weight, high performance that would tempt me to bust the piggy bank wide open. I was also wondering about that. I noticed the holystone hs 120d gives the black circle over the sun. Su to indicate a cheap lower grade light sensor. That's a deal breaker for me. Does anyone know for sure about this one?

Is it normal that during follow me mode my z5 doesnt turn the face direction of the drone? It follows my remote control and gps position of my phone but why does the drone stay always in the same position respect N, Est, S and West?

It is due to your phone sending the wrong info. See if you can calibrate the compass on your phone.
I like your videos. Very complete explanation. As the RC monitor does not, I would like to know if it had lost telemetry information in the application video in long range
In long range you will lose all information from your phone screen.
A nice looking little drone
I'm just not a huge fan of looking at the unstabilised imagery from a drone. I've been using my home-built drone utilising the Drift mode in Ardupilot (DJI A3 has drift mode I believe also) but I'm yet to attach a camera. But I'm thinking it would be a much more enjoyable viewing experience. Wish these little drones, with fixed cameras, could add Drift mode.
Looks like a really good drone for the price.

i bought a copy of the drone on wish for 25 dollars and on the first flight it went flying to my neighbors backyard but i got it back because i got control back. at lest it had 1 day shipping.

Hi Brent. I have not looked into it, so I really don't know if you can. Almost every drone I have received that has a camera which is controlled electronically to move up and down, makes a beep sound. I think the Chinese believe this is necessary.... not sure why.

149 says the frequency is 5745
How do you switch to 149 and can I few it on my phone setup.
That is a question for the manufacturer of your phone.

Does it have a geofence function?
I would love to see it work. I do everything in the in the set up, yet when I get to toggle in to 5 and 7 to start the motors, nothing happens. Can not seem to unlock them. Any ideas?
Sounds like you have a GPS problem from not doing the calibration correctly. Take it out of GPS mode and try to start it.

There is an upgrade for the F11 but it is over $100. It is not worth it to upgrade.

You can't save many settings on this drone.
This is a clone ( or the opposite ) of the deerc de 25 from Holystone ! May be the maker is the same ! Only the distributor change !

The color of the video from the drone is a bit grey.
Very low contrast and color saturation (I hope that was the correct word. It's late in Germany and I am to lazy to look it up 😂)
Also during the follow me mode the image does back and forth rocking motion or it is stable?

Yes. The Z5 needs a calibration each time you turn it on.

Darren Pearse it’s about 120 metres of live transmission depending on how much interference there is. About 600 metres of controller range

Mate , i have the same drone, and i cant make it land. After it takes off it stays in the air, obviously i can go higher but when i try to take it down its hovering above ground and it doesnt want to land, i have to crash it first....even if i keep pressing down....
Try calibrating the GYRO before takeoff. This resets everything to zero.
Is this Drone the 5G WiFi version ? Or 2.4G 👍
Hey Cap, how you doing? Just a quick one, when the Z5 was launched I bought one but recently when I took it out to fly, I'm not able to locate the drone on my WiFi list, could it be my phone software (android)?
If it is the same phone you are using then the problem would be that either the APP has updated or the WIFI on the drone has burnt out.

Do the drones have a parachute option (automatic or manual) or shock absorbers on the drone's landing legs? And if not, would it be better if it had these features?
Nope. It adds weight so such items would be after market add ons.

Captain I have become a huge fan I have unsubscribed from several other channels you are precise and trustworthy I have dabbled with several drones for a year had 3 fly aways and purchased some that were crap. My question with all I spent I could have a DJI but water under bridge what GPS drone would you recommend for me on low budget around 100 dollars I am not at this point concerned a lot about photos I would like one that I can fly at a distance and if I lose orientation or go too far It will come back once I feel comfortable I will go to DJI any suggestions would be greatly appreciated If you have an assortment of batteries so hoping I could use them as back up but not a consideration if you recommend one thank you Captain keep up the awesome work I never leave your channel without learning something
Rick, thanks for the comments. For $100 that you want to come back to you would be a GPS drone. Sometimes you can get a GPS drone on sale for $100 or less. TomTop, Banggood or Gearbest have plenty of sales on now.

Cap! Can you trial the distance test? Return to home and low battery mode is good or not?
I think the distance was over 300 meters for me, but I did not do a real test.
Sir having just bought one, I'm a drone newbie! How do I calibrate the thing indoors? Mine is stuck on the app searching for GPS, which it won't find. I tried the top left button, still no motor spin.
GPS does not exist indoors

@@johnh10000 all depends on the drone. You go through the calibration motions indoors and on some drones it lets you fly and on others you have to read the manual and see if there is a button you hold down to turn off the GPS. This is a very old drone and it is long gone from my collection so I can’t help you further
question captain. my z5 drone goes nd in circles when it takes off and when i try to correct it it goes all er the place.could you help me plz.

Oh, the Z5 is much quieter than the Mavic Air (prop sounds), but the Mavic Air makes zero sound when you move the camera.
Very nice capt! I dont know if its my hearing but those motors sounded a bit LIKE brushless motors. Is it just me??
They are brushed motors, but the good kind. There is a version of this drone for a much higher price with brushless motors.
Hi I have a question: Follow me will work if I inside a car which is moving 100KM/hour?
The answer would be no. This drone will follow your cell phone, but at a slow speed. Even if you had an expensive DJI drone, it could not follow you at 100 KM/H.

Most companies do it to make the controller look more pro. Someone started it long ago, and companies just keeping doing it.

The base model F11 has the same camera as the Z5.

HI, maybe you can halp me, i buyed this drone and a microSD card.
But the videos the drone save on the card are not openable, the pictures work fine and videos from other sources on the card work fine only the videos saved by the drone are broken.
What can it be ?
Also the drone was selled as 5G but is only 2.4G from china, so maybe its just a scam..
What type of computer are you trying to view the photos on? If it is a MAC, then it won't work because the formatting of the card is not readable in a MAC. Also, the other problem could be the SIZE of the card. The Z5 only likes a 16 GIG card or smaller (8 Gig works even better), and the card must be formatted on a PC.

Do you guys know how to fix this problem I charge all of my batteries but for some reason after flying it for a few seconds the lights start flashing red and it lands itself and every time I take off it just keeps doing that
The battery is not fully charged. Not all the cells have a full charge. Try a different USB cable and/or USB power source (you may not be getting enough amps). Don't charge off a computer.

Thank you for the great video :-). I want to order the Z5 with 2.4 GHz version radio/wifi. But im not sure if my Huawei P9 Lite Mini smartphone, with Android 7.0 Nougat system wull be abel to oprerate the Z5. I have downloadet the SJRC pro app, and lokks like it workes..i get the location mapp whre im am..but still not sure if i will work. Hope you can help me . Manny regards Jens
All your smartphone requires is the ability to talk to WIFI at 802.11ac. Look up the specs of your phone and see if it has it. As long as your phone is not old or a piece of junk, it should have it.

How do u move it up and down? Like altitude how?
That is a super beginner question. Perhaps watch videos on how do I fly a drone so that you know what the joysticks do when you move them.
Hey Cap I have a question for you I was looking at the Z5 drone and there is two 1080p options one at 2.4g and the other is 5g, I know that the new phones do 5g but they do 2.4 also, my question is does the FPV transmit farther on 2.4g ? should I get the 2.4 or the 5g ?
Check that again. The controller controls the drone at 2.4 and the video and app run at 5 ghz.

@@norm231159 Yes, 5Ghz is best because it means better video back to your phone and sometimes a longer range. You need a phone that can handle 802.11ac to use 5GHZ.
Just bought this drone because i thought it was under 250g but the booklet says it's weight is 266g with battery?
Perhaps they changed the battery? The drone was designed from the start to be at 250grams and under.
what is the best sjrc drone that is on the market right now. Are there any that have obstacle avoidance, long flight time, gps, good camera?
Obstacle avoidance is only for DJI drones for the most part.
I have just purchased this drone (the 5G version) and it seems ok. However.. I'm having an odd problem. It only records like verticle, if that makes sense. I flip my phone sideways and it's all distorted and no good. The video saved in my phone is fine, it's just the video on the card. Any idea how I can fix this, or am I screwed?
That happened to others as well. It is due to the device you are using to read the video file (happens to more people with Macs). People with Macs download the VLC Media Player and all is well. If you have a PC, try a different video player.

I can't recall. There were a few drones made a year ago that could support a few frequencies and you had to pick the correct one on ordering.
