I’m 36 and walked into a petrol station tonight & heard this playing on the radio. I haven’t heard this since the year 2000 when I was 14! My how the world has changed since then 😢
Back in the days that internet was just a distant echo, cellphones didn't exist and MTV was our mirror to the world and I, as a 14 year old had a crush on her, like a million other boys. For some reason I'm crying as I realise those days are gone for good. God I miss them...
I understand what you mean. But , if you think a little more, realize that nostalgia makes you remember only the good things of the past and not the bad.
My parents bought me a DVD player back in 2004 and it came with an MP3 disc as gift, this song was usually my favorite, it doesn't have any title but shows only as track. Someone borrowed the disc and never returned it, since than I've been trying to find that song but I couldn't and also I forgot the lyrics but I only remember the tune or humming of it. So today, somehow I started humming in my head and decided to use Google sound search and my humming got 21% match and now I'm here happily listening to it after a long time. It's pure good old memories. 😊👍
Glad you found it again 🙂 I've always loved this song but I didn't know who sang it and it took my ages to find it, coincidentally I found it in a charity shop in 2004 and just see the title and thought this has to be it! 🙂
Tell me im not the only one running back to all the 90s and early 2000 music wishing we could go back in time where the world is less crazy and no snowflakes in sight.
No... I've been curating a list of songs from this era, specifically the early half of 2003-2012. This was the period I started working on a side job as a postman and it was my first exposure to pop. Certain songs like this one were on repeat for several weeks. They fill me with memories of warm envelopes, printing ink, hot summer and cold winters where, as soon as my bags were empty, I could just go home and enjoy the rest of the Saturday and Sunday off.
Lol there have been snowflakes throughout history and always will be, the only difference is that they now have social media to find like minded people. Anyone who thinks it's a new thing knows nothing of history. I mean less than 100 years ago white people in the US couldn't even bear to go on a bus with black people. Can't get much more snowflake than that. Take a look at all the tame shows which were never allowed to be aired ever again because they got letters from people complaining and you look at it now and it's nothing. People were massive snowflakes decades ago too 😂
Time has changed so much. I was born 1990, this time was between stages. Seen the changes between VHS and DVD, modern Internet, used to log into ICQ or MySpace after school in my teen years... I am 31 now, turning 32 in November. Have a loving Wife and a 4yo son. Love coming back to this song and pretend to be in a Time where I felt safe and protected.
Around 1999 I was working in a pub kitchen. The side door was open, the sun was shining, I was surreptitiously having a pint, and loving life. This song came on the radio and I turned it up. That was a moment in time, and for years I tried to work out what the song was. This was when Shazam seemed like science fiction. I tried to remember the lyrics. I wonder if Six Pence None The Richer was it. I even listened to compilations albums trying to find it. Eventually, about ten years ago, "sitting down here" popped into my head. I couldn't really make any of the lyrics out in my memory. I Googled it, found it, playing it on TH-cam and felt relief. I'd found the song, almost fifteen years after I heard it that moment when I was still in my teens and having a ball. Anyway, that's an inconsequential about how music is the soundtrack to life.
Glad you found it again 🙂 I've always loved this song but I didn't know who sang it and it took my ages to find it I eventually found it in a charity shop in 2004 and just see the title and thought this has to be it! 🙂
