Screaming Ford From Ice Road Truckers Fame Having Fuel Problems Again June 13 2024

- the mini Hoe Kubota U17 cracked out the thumb today playing with big rocks. the 1938 GMC service truck had to drive behind the house so i could do a little welding between the rains. it was also a toothpick tree gathering day off the cat train trails plus around the back of the house. the staff helped out moving 2 deck trailer with the Screaming Ford which is 1974 Ford 9000 made famous on the TV show Ice Road Truckers. the only problem was the fuel system feeding the 8V71 Detroit motor was acting up like it did last month so a simple trailer move turned out to be a little fun. oh well the Screaming Ford is 50 years old this year so it can have issues being that age. thansk

You can also drill a hole in the handle for tailgate latch and attach a length of rope to reach the cab so you can yank on it to release the gate without having to get out.

Oh King, ever hear tell of putting ATF in tires to stop a slow leak? Me neither till just a week or so ago. You might google it 'n see what's up with it. Maybe the Screaming Ford needs Plugs, Points & Condenser. Ha! Just kidding. Took ya back a minute though didn't l? Thanks for the learnig channel. ben/ michigan
yes the quad tires need to be replaced, too make plugs and patches on them over the years. also remember the IH gas-diesels in my cats have those spark plugs and such. so one has to really think when asking or answering the question thansk

Your Highness if I may ask, why must you disconnect the battery to weld on the mini hoe? Couldn't the electricity from the welder still fry the elctronics? or is there a totally different reason for disconnecting the battery.

Sounds like a fuel pressure problem, but I have minimal knowledge on diesels unlike yourself, I'm sure we'll find out in short order what the problem is. TGIF guys 👍✌️🇺🇲
yes busy day even with all the rains. the 8V71 detroit is having a lack of fuel problem. fill the fuel filters and it will run till it runs out. oh well, something else to figure out and fix which is better to do in the summer not the winter. thansk

Does the fuel gauge on the Ford work? Is it on the edge of running out? Or is that fine and there's a plugged line? See ya tomorrow

i learned a long time ago never trust the fuel gauge like an ex-wife, we always dip the tank. most likely the valve is plugged. thansk
What part in the truck makes that fart noise when you set the parking brake on?
Air Brakes make a sharp squeak and push of air when you take yer foot off the pedal. Air pressure releases air brakes, to stop it lets the air back out. Springs put pressure on the shoes, not the air so when you're done the air comes out and the brakes go on. Google Semi Truck Air Brakes. ben/ michigan

At the rate you keep running your old gas and diesel engines at the end of the world. We should be living in the same climate as Australia by now. I'm surprised that you're not growing pineapples and coconut trees by now! I miss the smell of leaded gas!

wildfires in Alberta creates a lot of smoke that can cause cold fronts. I remember within the last few summers. We had so much rain and colder weather when it's normally hot and sunny, the trees were changing to autumn colors during mid summer.
