What a clever idea! I have tried to use pliers and tweezers before and it was always a complete disaster. I bought one of those pickers eventually but gee, I wish I knew this little trick then. I could have saved some money. Thank you for sharing that Carol!
Always like seeing creative ideas with what you have at home! Never thought of candle wax. I personally use a hot glue gun to dot both ends with glue. You can use a toothpick, orange stick, pencil, pen with cap (dot the cap)... really any stick-like item. You can shape it while it is hot, but you can also file it to shape when it's cool. Works great picking up sequins and stones.
Good idea Carol! I generally use my paper scorer tool, tip dipped in a tiny bit of glue to pick up rhinestones. Love the sparkly bracelet you're wearing in the video. ❤️
Great and inexpensive idea! Thanks for sharing. It's the same concept as the picker that comes in the packet of Painting With Diamonds. So if anyone has an extra one, you have a picker. One comes in each package of painting with diamonds project. Have an awesome day. :)
They work great! Just make sure you don’t use candles with a lot of oil in the wax. They don’t work as well. I have found that the inexpensive tea light candles work great 👍
Great tip for Rhinestone Workers :) curious though what brand etc your first store bought rhinestone you showed is that has the two different ends .Thanks in advance
@@refunctioncrafts4928 Thank you for your reply which generates new question: Since each rhinestone has many sides, that require a lot of buff with a soft cloth. In addition, I am working with hundreds of tiny, small to mid size rhinestones (to cover the entire two flat shoes) (3 pairs) , buffing ALL with a soft cloth would be even more efforts.
I haven’t had trouble with them falling apart but I do make several of them when I make them. You can’t use the wax from the burners because it is too oily. It needs to come from a candle that isn’t too oily. The oil tends to make it slippery. They certainly don’t last forever but I love them. Thanks for your question. ♥️
@refunctioncrafts4928 what about like a woodwick candle. Sorry. After you said something about it being oily I was thinking that I think a me candles seem oily?
Yes it will. They work like a charm. Just make sure the wax you use is somewhat sticky. You will know the first time you pick up a rhinestone because it will pick up with ease.
Great idea. I'm thinking about closing my Etsy store. I haven't had a single sale. I've posted the link and photos but no customers. Keep up the good work.
You make a very valid point. I would imagine that hot l, humid weather would cause them to melt easily. I live in a dry climate so I don’t have that problem. Here is the link to the one I use. Uchida Of America 91GR Double... www.amazon.com/dp/B00NL5LTO2?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Well, I would place the rhinestones close together because once you stretch the lace, you don’t want it to come out looking to sparse. It really depends on what you are looking for as far as how the lace will stretch when the item is being used. What are you making?
Likely because the wax in your candle has too much oil in it. I have found that the cheapest candles like the tea lights you get at the dollar stores work the best.
One of my most watched videos and most seem to appreciate the tip. I’m not Stu..d and neither are any of my viewers. Kindness, respect and helpful tips are welcome here. Thank you for being respectful.
Hey this is a great idea however a simpler idea is just using a crayon 🖍️ been using for years picks up great 👍🏾
Oh my, why didn’t I ever think of that? Thanks for the tip!♥️♥️
Does it not get crayon on the rhinestone?
Great idea I’m gonna try it right now

Thanks! I’m going to have to do a video showing different items that can be used. I hadn’t thought of most of those great ideas!
I have that gem picker and it's not ever picked up gems very well. This is a great idea! Thanks for sharing!
Rhonda's Craft Obsessions these work better than my picker. They won’t last very long but that’s okay because I can make another one in seconds. 😁
Awesome! Will definitely try it! Can't wait to see the next tutorial. Got a sneak peak of that beautiful butterfly!!
C LOMBARD thanks! Butterfly idea posted😁
Beautiful butterfly ..... Ty for sharing
So nice of you. Thanks!😁

Awesome! Thanks so much!
Great hack/idea!! Been looking for something simple, easy, all while using common items u can find at home! Thank you so much💕
You’re so welcome! Works like a charm. I did figure out that it works best with a wax that isn’t super oily.
Good idea Carol! I generally use my paper scorer tool, tip dipped in a tiny bit of glue to pick up rhinestones. Love the sparkly bracelet you're wearing in the video. ❤️
Thank you!❤️
If u use tacky glue does it need to be 100%dry before picking up the rhinestone?

What a cool idea
Thanks carol, what a great idea
Thanks for another excellent video. I am looking forward to trying this.
Cheers very much.
Would wax on the tip of pickup cloud the rimestones?
No, it barely sticks to the wax but if it does, just buff the rhinestone with a soft cloth and it will be good as new. ♥️

Does the candle wax not fall apart after it dries? Does it have to be a lit candle or can it be melted wax in like a wax burner?
I haven’t had trouble with them falling apart but I do make several of them when I make them. You can’t use the wax from the burners because it is too oily. So this will work for setting gems into rings and inlays of rings?
Yes it will. They work like a charm. Just make sure the wax you use is somewhat sticky. You will know the first time you pick up a rhinestone because it will pick up with ease.
Thanks a lot for sharing this will save money for me 😜👍🏻
You’re very welcome! They work like a charm. 😁♥️
Once it’s cool down it will still have sticky effect ?
Yes it does. Works like a charm. ♥️
@@refunctioncrafts4928 we can use it through out year ? Thanks for uploading 💖
oh my! what a great find! TFS
Sista Suga you’re very welcome!❤️

So helpful !! Thank u
You’re welcome!♥️♥️
Amazing! Thank you for this helpful video, I can’t wait to try it!
downtwnfoxybrwn make sure to use a plain wax candle if you can. The less oil the better
Thank you for this advice! Now my flat back pearls will not fly off to siberia when I grab them with my tweezers.
😂I know that feeling. So many lost flat back pearls and rhinestones. ♥️♥️
This is awesome. Thank you.
You’re welcome!
Lovely but in the Florida humidity won't the tips melt off? Where's the best place to get a picker like you use? TFS ❣️💛☮️✌️💜

What wax did you use? I tried several candles but none were sticky enough to pick up the rhinestones
One of the best I’ve found to use are the small tea light candles without the extra oils and perfumes.
Thank you so much for the great tip!
Great I needed this so much, I am having a hard for me ❤
What is the one you have ? How can I purchase that one that’s silver? Thanks!
You can buy them on Amazon. Just type in rhinestone picker in the search menu. They are amazing!
What a great idea thank you
how long does the wax stay
They will last quite a while. Through weeks of f projects as long as I keep it somewhere that is doesn’t get squished. Thanks for asking. ♥️
@@refunctioncrafts4928 Where can I keep it💋
want to put rhinestones on stretch lace - any tips?

Try also lipshiner or deo wax it works just dip the picker or ordinary pen
Great idea! Thanks for the tip!
I use the tip hole of my oen as a Rinestone picker
Thanks for the tip! I’m going to try that😁
wish I had seen this a few weeks ago before I bought one. thanks on behalf of other crafters.
