All answers are horribly wrong... This is a parkour takeoff technique, it works even better on concrete, they dont use it for long jumps because it makes you fly with your head forwards, so you can't simply land on your feet (you have to either flip, dive roll or kong).

I'm a 15 year old long jumper and my PB is around 21 ft. I remember doing a 14 ft long frontflip on grass when I was 13 so it is much harder to get as far as in a one-foot takeoff. I don't know how much the bouncy ground affect tho
You may have noticed that the floor he was on was a tad bit higher than the buildings floor thats because under the raised section there are rows of springs that are said the propell the person higher and increase running speed.
