    Wonderful selection. I have had a decant of Dior Eau Sauvage leak all of its contents in my travel bag. I was upset about it at first, but now that I have it all cleaned out I am left with the scent of its dry-down and I have to say that I am not upset about the leaking at all. My travel toothbrush smells very classy all the time now.

      I’ve been “collecting” fragrances for about 3 years and my advice is instead of buying 3 cheapies buy 1 quality one. You actually don’t need more than 2, a sweeter one for fw and a fresh one for ss. And try it on your skin in a store to see how it lasts on you. I see no point in buying something that smells nice but lasts 3 hrs and projects for 30min

    Bravo. Loved your choices. I use 4711 every morning as a shower finisher...and then 20 minutes later I apply my scent of the day. Acua di Parma is simply a favorite... and with Cary Grant and yes even Audrey Hepburn being fans, how can you go wrong. Simply a classic that defines class. Oh and Blenheim Bouquet is another favorite. It is in my favorite summer fragrances for 2020 review. Really enjoyed your presentation. Cheers

    Some really good scents there Brian, I prefer musgo real’s orange amber to the spicy and 4711 is a decent smelling bargain, but my go to citrus scent has got to be Acqua di Parma Colonia.
    Mind you I’d give up my whole collection for just one more bottle of the sadly discontinued Kirra by Pacsun, a subtle hint of citrus and my summer scent choice for some of the happiest days in my life!

    Great picks, Brian! I'll certainly get a sample of that Zegna juice. Additional honorable mentions?
    1. Eau de Rochas pour homme by Rochas: a nice variation on the classic Eau Sauvage theme with a little more basil thrown into the mix
    2. Bright Neroli by Ferrari: despite coming from a car brand (yikes!), the quality is actually more than decent; quite orangey and more substantial than, say, 4711. Bang for the buck!
    3. Green Water by Jacques Fath:
    Not a cheapy at all, but a really sophisticated, astringent and, well, green take on classic summer scents.
    Greetings from Germany!

    One of the problems with summer/citrus fragrances for me has been that their top notes can be very similar, making it difficult to justify buying a new one. Well that and the problem that most citrus fragrances last a few hours at most.
    From your list, Zegna's Italian Bergamot intrigues me the most, with the two Penhaligon's ones coming in close second! For my own fragrances, I think I have mentioned them before but I am rotating through 2 right now: Bleu de Chanel for the more sophisticated scent and the more fiscally manageable Versace Man Eau Fraiche which I've been enjoying very much this summer. I guess both are more aquatic than citrus though. Dior Homme Cologne is also an easy spray for the office (or well, back when I went to work anyway) as it only has 3 notes! - Han

    • @hespokestyle
      @hespokestyle  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Many are similar but there are also a lot that smell quite different. I'd say about half of this list are of the intriguing variety!

    Forty-seven eleven sounds so much cooler than Siebenundvierzig elf! :) Great and very informative video! This evening l’m going to reorder “Earl Grey & Cucumber” by Jo Malone London which is in fact a unisex cologne (but in my opinion more on the female side as it has vanilla as one of the base notes). It reminds me of my last holiday in Italy. It is a very special, spicy green and surprising fragrance. With the bergamot top notes it’s perfect for summer. Of the fragrances you presented, Arquiste L’Etrog sounds best in my opinion. I just checked - it’s unisex. Good ;) The Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo fragrances are very good as well.

      He Spoke Style ...Brian, I forgot to mention that you produce some of the highest quality TH-cam video productions on TH-cam. It’s a crying shame that you don’t get a ‘Like’ from everyone who watches one of your videos. The amount of work you put into each of your videos is simply amazing.The way you organize each video by content, makes it extremely easy for the viewer to hone in on a particular area of interest. Your content is always very well researched and presented in a fashion/format that i believe most viewers find pleasing. I’m always amazed at how knowledgeable you are on so many aspects of men’s fashion. I’m guilty of watching many of your videos without always leaving feedback, yet I do try to at least try to hit the ‘like’ button. I have a theory on how TH-cam content creators might go about increasing the % of viewers who hit the ‘like’ button. My theory is based solely on anecdotal observations and I wonder if any content creators might be interested in my theory. Maybe, as I further define my theory, I might circle back with you to see if you have any interest in some of the observations I’ve made. Anyway, you produce great content!...keep up the great work...Ed

    I've a question for you? Which style of loafers is more formal? Assuming that both styles that I am going to mention have the same colour and are constructed from the same leather, then which is the more formal, and also a more versatile style? The classic penny loafer or the classic horsebit loafer?

    • @solanoj80
      @solanoj80 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The less decorative elements, the most formal a pair of shoes can be. In my opinion, the Penny loafers can be considered more formal although they are also more versatile. They are easier to dress up and dress down.

    • @hespokestyle
      @hespokestyle  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting question. It kind of depends on how you style them. For example, I have a pair of horsebit loafers that I only wear in the summertime. I like how they are dressy, yet casual at the same time.

      As an alternative, there are "hacks" to eliminate the need for a separate deodorant. Look into using things like "The Ordinary" Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution - this alters the ph balance of your pits, making it difficult for natural bacteria to rapidly multiply. Its also fragrance free.

    Big respect for Penhaligons, 4711? may be your great great great grandfather splashed that on his his face, it is fairly rank stuff! Aqua Di Palma Colonia has a really old man smell, get the latest Essenza version which has way better performance and smells more modern, sophisticated and mysterious.
    The best summer citrus hands down, aka great smell , not common and best performance, should really include these three niche frarances 1) Profumo Roma (Aqua Viva) 2) Naxos (Renaissance) 3) Nichane (Ambra Calabria)

      @@hespokestyle Ah yes apologies Eau savage is vastly superior and the parfum version is rather nice.

    One of my favorite summer scent is Davidoff Cool Water. A mix of salt water, rosemary, lavender, mint and oakmoss, very fresh but also very classic and elegant. Give it a try if you don't know it yet.
