    Watching Vortexxy's videos gives us the Zelda series we always hoped for. She does such a good job at telling stories that you can picture every event like it was happening. And her explanations help to understand things like why Termina had no Zelda. She had such a beautiful and calming voice, perfect for these tales, making every viewing a special experience.

    One thing you could have added is that after the goddesses had forsaken termina, the stone tower temple was remade to mock them (hence all of the upside down triforces, and the disrespectful face with a hand pointing upwards.) The goddesses countered by flipping the tower upside down (both making the tower point back down at ikana, and flipping the triforce designs so they faced upwards.)

    The real villain in LoZ is the Triforce. Seriously, it causes all of the problems in almost every game

    • @Chaos89P
      @Chaos89P 9 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      Heh, I wouldn't go that far. Yeah, it is the source of all these problems, but it's not aware of them. Page 70 of _Hyrule Historia_ actually states that "the Triforce does not distinguish between good and evil." The manual of A Link to the Past also says this, but I'm not exactly counting it as canon; do not ask why. There are possibly a couple more sources, but I can't be bothered to find them. It is the greed in man's - and subsequently demons' - hearts that is the true villain, not the Triforce itself.

      True, but still i can't really blame the Lorulians for destroying their Triforce, since it seems like a really good idea if it weren't for the "destroying the foundations of time and space" thing

    • @Chaos89P
      @Chaos89P 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Apollo9898LPs The problem is nobody knows why the Triforce was made in the first place (source: Skyward Sword). Another source (I cannot remember what it is off the top of my head) claims that it was an accident, much like Lorule and Termina. I honestly have no clue as to why destroying the Triforce basically ruined Lorule itself, as I agree that it was done with the best of intentions. Maybe Miyamoto and Aonuma will shed some light on this? ... I doubt it. Maybe destroying the Triforce simultaneously destroyed the Loruleans' faith? The Lorulean Philosopher said something similar. Sounds like something Vortex should look into.

They cover completely different subjects, and the subject one person covers might be naturally more interesting than another, no matter how good they research or conclude.

    The Stone Tower is most likely where the ancient tribe originally worshipped Majora's Mask and did their hexing rituals, since that is where you find the statue of the mask. I've also seen theories stating the dimension where you fight Twinmold is where Majora's Mask was sealed. This might explain why the Ikana Kingdom was set up around the tower: to guard from those who would discover the Mask.

    • @bradd690
      @bradd690 9 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      +SpotterX4 I always figured the realm where you fought Twinmold was Terminas Sacred realm. We see when Ganon is sent to the sacred realm with the Triforce of power it becomes corrupted and warped. I recon that's why the area you fight in is a desolate wasteland. The power of Majora was so great, it didn't just warp Terminas sacred realm, it destroyed it completely, till there was no green, and no life left anywhere and only a desert wasteland was left. The stone tower is most likely the parallel version of the Temple of Time, and the kingdom of Ikana was the parallel of the kingdom of Hyrule, before the war like vortex said.

    • @chazhulls2984
      @chazhulls2984 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Brad D I thought of the Twinmold arena as the area where the foundations of the stone tower are when it isn't flipped. To me, the terminian sacred realm is the interior of the moon.

    • @yugotuber
      @yugotuber 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chazhulls2984 hm nice idea...but the moon was warped by Majoras Mask/ Skull Kid very recently, when the skull kid stole the mask from the Happy Mask Salesman and then went to Termina to wreak havoc. Majoras Mask has been possibly taken out of the Stone Tower Temple/ Sacred Realm of Twinmold by the Mask Salesman before. So that "Sacred Realm" where Twinmold remains is maybe the first and original one. Maybe the moon dimension is a mirrored replica of that Sacred Realm of Twinmold, but twisted to look happy, lush and peaceful instead of a barren, sandy wasteland?

    I really like the way you present your theories. I feel like you focus on the types of things the game devs would, that being general story elements rather than specific items and places. I do wish you would more clearly indicate when your are talking about in-game canon facts vs the more purely speculative (such as there being a goddess named "Termina" who is a separate but equal being to Hylia). That said, it was really entertaining and it didn't feel like too many assumptions were made. Subbed!

    Hey Vortex, I love your videos and after watching this one I decided to watch some of your older ones, particularly ones focusing on the Gorons and locations in/by Death Mountain. I began to wonder what happened to the Mogmas that had villages all over the volcano in Skyward Sword and why Volvagia would one day decide to eat all the Gorons who, being very stone-like, wouldn't make that great of a meal.
    I'm not really a theory creator like you, but do you think it is possible that the Gorons exterminated the Mogma? The Gorons of S.S. didn't have a region like the other races. They could have begun settling on Death Mountain and killing off the much weaker Mogmas. Volvagia may have been the offspring/creation of The Fire Dragon Eldin to protect the weaker Mogmas. This would explain why the Fire Temple was built in honor of Volvagia, by the Mogma, but was later re-purposed once the Gorons defeated him. When Volvagia is later revived by Ganondorf, there are no Mogma left to protect so he begins his revenge on the Gorons, who by this time don't even remember the Mogma.

    • @warpio
      @warpio 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +DrTimes99 I thought the Mogma race was meant to be the ancestor of the Geldman enemies from LttP, you know those humanoid mud monsters that pop up from the sand. It's not that we don't see them again, they just turned evil like the Zoras eventually did.

    Vortex im a huge fan of your channel and i like how you use tangible evidence to speculate on possible explanations to the world of The legend of Zelda. Now over the past couple of months i stumbled across some video's of zelda theories on youtube and have been hooked ever since. I have began to piece together a cohesive theory on all matters regarding the origins of Hyrule, Hylia,Demise,Link and the creation of the triforce. I find skyward sword gave us more questions than answers so I have been watching videos non-stop to figure out the puzzle.
    ANYWAYYYYYY I have a few things to ask related to this video. Firstly at the start of the video where you show the footage of the Ocarina of time's Creation Story, there is some text along with the video that i have never seen or heard of before.It states that "When Hyrule was created by the 3 goddesses at the begining of time, there was certain side effects of its creation which Din, Nayru and Farore did not anticipate. As the three holy women breathed life into the world and chased away emptiness, their potent breath slipped through the tiny cracks in the folds of space and created millions of alternate worlds in the process". Im curious as to if that is canon or a theory?
    Near the end of your video when you discuss Lorule, the game's text states that because Lorule had wished its triforce out of existence that subsequently the world crumbled due to losing its foundation. Now given that we can agree that Lorule is a parallel universe and could potentially be one of many infinite universes that exist outiside of Hyrule, I think the same fate would fall upon Hyrule had they wish for the same thing. So I am curious on your thoughts as to why the goddesses created the triforce to then depart for the heavens and give it to hylia to protect? If they gave it to hylia to protect surely they were aware of the potential evil they could unleash upon the world so why even leave the triforce? I theorize that they left a piece of their divine power to protect the world from someone or something that was destroying the life that they create over the universe. I know that there is limited information regarding the the 3 golden goddesses and their purpose but i find that they're best place to start looking for answers.
    It seems to me that this is indicative of the fact that they had more work to do. I theorize that they departed to the "heavens" to keep exploring the unmapped universe and then create more life through out it. Lorule is an example of this, as the 3 goddesses left the triforce in that world also. I also theorize that their creations of land, life and law were getting in the way of some darkness or void that wanted to return the universe's lights off so it or they could return to their slumber.I'm sorry for this essay but i have a lot more i theories i held back to keep this short and sweet lol
    thanks for making awesome inspiring videos and keep up the good work

    • @VortexxyGaming
      @VortexxyGaming  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +jon The part about the creation of the world is from Zelda.com, it's what's written under the term "Termina". Whether it's canon or not is debated, but it IS featured on an official Nintendo website.
      For your second part, I think the Goddesses giving the world the Triforce knowing it could be used for good or evil, is simply to reinforce the aspect of choice. People can choose whether they obey the Goddesses (good) or defy them (evil) or be neutral (do nothing either side), and anything in between. The triforce symbolizes morality. The Goddesses don't particularly care whether good or evil triumphs, as long as balance prevails.
      As for them intervening during the Great Flood...I have a theory about that which I will be releasing at the end of this month ;)

    One question, is there anywhere that the names of Lorule or Termina's goddesses are actually given? Or did you just use Termia and Lolia because they follow the same sort of naming scheme as Hylia and Hyrule? Great theory by the way, it makes sense why there are so many comparisons to be made between all three worlds.

    • @VortexxyGaming
      @VortexxyGaming  9 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      +PurpleKangaroo4 Yes, Termia and Lolia are not canon names, but they follow the Hylia naming convention :)

      +Matthew Lajoie Lorule only looks like that because it's falling apart. It's supposed to be like Hyrule in terms of geography and landscape.

    people always seem to forget that Majora's Mask was originally from Hyrule. in the game, the happy mask salesman is attacked by the skull kid in the lost woods, and so is Link later on. Link doesn't reach Temina until after falling down the giant hollow tree.

    • @Ty_Weresilver
      @Ty_Weresilver 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      But the Skull Kid may have attacked him for Majora's Mask on the way back to Hyrule. God knows how the Salesman manages to do that, but he seems to have arrived on Termina pretty safely.

    • @kevingierach9720
      @kevingierach9720 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the more assumptions you make, especially without basis, the more you are just grasping at straws, and loosing the chance of the theory being right. the fact remains, the mask salesman and link both were attacked by Skull Kid in the lost woods of Hyrule, not in Termina. And we only know vaguely where in the lost woods Link was attacked, near the big tree that has leads to Termina.

    Hi Vortex. I'm glad you finally uploaded a new theory.
    I want to warn you about a mistake I think other Zelda theorists have fallen into. It feels like they have started creating their own lore about the Zelda universe, since many videos out there feel like fanfiction instead of actual theories (#blamebongobongo).
    It's their use of indicative instead of conditonal, their excessive references about past theories (which make them sound like canon sources)... I am probably really picky, but I needed to let you know, since I love the way you tell your theories and don't want you to sound like them. By the way, I'm not talking about giving a name to the godesses, if you were wondering. That was funny.
    I hope this doesn't bother you in any way, it's just constructive criticism.
    Anyway, I'd like to share a hypothesis that has been running inside my head (an obvious one that probably someone has already talked about): Demise being from Lorule and coming to Hyrule searching for the Triforce after the Lorulean Triforce had been destroyed, and his sword being a corrupted Master Sword taken from a defeated hero...

  • @spenpinner
    @spenpinner 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    love the video! One thing though, I think Demise and his demons existed in lorule before coming to hyrule. He has a warped master sword with lorule's triforce engraved on it.

    Hey Vortex, Just wanted you to know you are the best of Zelda theory videos I've found so far, both in quality and depth. Your videos are awesome and you're one of only a handful of TH-camrs I check on to make sure I didn't miss your newest video, I always find them interesting and entertaining. You keep being awesome :)
    I would also like to make a request about the fourth piece of the Triforce, though i'm sure a theory that popular is already on your mind, I still want to hear your thoughts on it.

      Wow, that’s really cool! I was on a family holiday and my parents were out at dinner, so I had to sneak to put on my iPad on the internet and I watched this video in the bathroom to avoid being caught. I see these theories as stories as well, they really draw you into the universe of The Legend of Zelda. She was one of the best, Rest In Peace to her 💙

    and if not, there´s a fun, if time consuming, idea for your overlay =)

    Vortexxy another great video not just because it looks great but also makes u think. In fact it has even cause me to rethink my previous theory on Termina and hyrule. I don't think there is an infinite number of parallel worlds but 3. As far as I know we have only see 3 worlds. Hyrule, Termina, and Lorule. What if the 3 goddesses actually each created a world of their own, connect thru 2 things. The triforce and the doorway to the other worlds in lost woods. It would actually make a lot of sense when u think about it. I mean where did the 3 goddesses go after creating creation. They could of split off each to its own world and becoming the goddess of time for that world. Lorule represent wisdom, Termina would be Power, and Hyrule representing hope. The triforce would be a tool to bind the 3 worlds together parallel to one another but never contacting one another outside of the portal in the lost woods of hyrule. However due to each goddess going to their own world the virtue the world was built upon was corrupted. Just a thought but could answer some questions

    I recently discovered zelda theory and ive been watching your videos on loop all day so im happy to see youre still active! ive never really thought about the zelda story much just assumed things happen in a generic adventure game way and zelda games are the same game just remixed so to speak every time. the idea of all this lore and hidden history and timelines is so facsinating to me!
    anyway my theory about Fierce Deity Link
    could the link of Termania been a Sheikah?
    his hair is white and his eyes are also white but that seems to be due to the deity power of him instead of his actual features
    so if Link was Sheikah and the Sheikah were part of the Ikana Kingdom knowing both masks are of legend could it be that link would be leader of the shiekah during or before the rebellion from the goddesses and used the majoras mask thus being corrupted by the evil. another theory is he became the deity of his people the shiekah and rebelled against both the Royal family with his duties as a sheikah and the goddesses as his duty as hero of time. they then rejected them and built Stone Temple to spite them in a Tower of Babel way the goddess therefore had to seal away Both link and Majora in masks because there was no one to oppose them thats why the description of the mask says it could be just as evil as majora.
    this is all over the place but basically majoras mask is a timeline where link succumbs to the triforces pull of greed for power like ganon
    intresting enough the TP story of the interlopers shows link resisting before dissapearing like mist (his old self?) and becoming one of them

Unlike any other LoZ videos I've seen, I feel like I come away from yours actually understanding the story and threads connecting the stories together. Anyone who says the LoZ story is a bunch of nonsense should be sent your way. Please keep up the great work! :-)

    • @perfectcell5613
      @perfectcell5613 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      it is nonsense lol you can't just change the story drasticly after 20 years like fake goddesses demons and bullshit timelines that don't even add up because the fact is there is no timeline all the stories are multi world so it's the same link and Zelda and ganondorf with each game just different versions of them with some similarities within they're history

    Ooh, this one was good! It makes me think about the removal of depictions of the Triforce in the 3DS version of Majora's Mask. It seems like any knowledge of the Triforce in Termina has vanished along with the royal family and the Sheikah. Maybe Majora's Mask was a more tempting relic than the Triforce. The Triforce can't have been destroyed, at least. So it's either been forgotten and hidden well (unlike in Hyrule and Lorule), or protected some other way. Maybe broken into pieces and scattered like the Triforces of Courage and Wisdom in Wind Waker.

    Hylia, Lolia, and Termia? Here’s an idea:
    Hylia = Nayru
    Lolia = Din
    Termia = Farore
    They made the 3 different versions of the same world, one for each of them.

    Love all your Zelda Theory videos!!! You have great insight and deductive conclusions that bring new light on different aspects of the Zelda Universe! You have an alluring voice for narration that makes it so nice to listen to (: Plus i love how you say Valoo's and Guru Guru's name, its cute!
    You should dig into why the Heroes Shade can turn into a wolf. They say that when TP Link transforms for the first time its because of the Twilight influence in an area. If OOT Link never seemed to traverse the modern Hyrule (at least that we know of) while the Twilight energies infested it, how does his shell have that ability? Maybe something similiar to how Ganondorf can transform into Ganon, which is usually a beastial pig-like behemoth? What do you think?
