  • In this video I discuss my likes and dislikes about the new 2024 Hyundai Kona Limited. With the all new generation, the Kona grows in size, gains several features, and maintains a great value proposition. The powertrains are carryover for 2024 with the 1.6T being paired to a new 8 speed automatic transmission. This improves driving feeling but sacrifices fuel economy. Space inside of the cabin is very roomy for this segment and features are class leading. For the mid $30k price point, I don't believe you can ask for much more. Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below!

    Just purchased my ‘24 Kona Limited and I have to say for the amount of money this is, and ALL the features we get it is such a steal. I’m obsessed. I also don’t love the open center console I think that was a mistake on Hyundai’s end but it also is gonna keep me less cluttered so I guess it has a perk. The style might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s mine, ❤️
    Also a little surprised you didn’t love or hate the gear shift. That seems to be pretty polarizing.

      Congrats! You're correct about the center console. Maybe it's Hyundai's hidden message to tell everyone to be more organized 😂. As far as the shifter, it is very different but honestly I am indifferent about it. It works well once you get used to it but I will say I like the more rounded version in the Ioniq's vs the square type. Which color did you buy?

    • @m.morales72
      @m.morales72 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      And I love the squareness of the shifter. It’s so funny everyone’s preferences. I got the color Ecotronic Gray Pearl. I wanted the green one, I think that color is so unique and pretty, but the gray is classic and looks more luxurious in my opinion.

      I ordered my Limited in yellow and FWD. Though I live in Michigan I rarely really need/use AWD. This will save me $1,400 & improve mileage by 3 mpg. Do you agree?

    Won't be long before someone smart makes an aftermarket divider that goes all the way up to the arm rest that'll completely enclose it for storage. After all, it's removable.

    I just bought my '24 Kona Limited today. When i got home I noticed the trunk light is very very small and off to the side. Therefore the trunk area is very dark with no light overhead ~ I'm very disappointed with that. I also don't like the open console either. I'm planning on getting something that will close off the console area so I have some sort of privacy storing items there. And I'm already trying to decide what I'm going to do about the light; will be getting a rechargeable light within the next few days that I can use. But I'm looking forward to learning how to use and manage all the options on the infotainment system. My last car was 12 years old and didn't even have a remote start. > So huge upgrade.

    • @CarsMadeSimple
      @CarsMadeSimple  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Congrats! When it comes to the light, I would need to check but knowing what I know about Hyundai's there may be a plug and plug upgrade that is possible. For example, my car came with an incandescent light on the side just like the Kona. I was able to install an LED bulb which made it much better. If it's LED from the factory, it's likely not possible to replace it but I don't think every trim is LED which would mean there is a little more to it but if the connector is the same in the housing, it may be possible to downgrade to the incandescent housing and then upgrade the bulb. Just me thinking out loud but I will see about checking into it.

    I just purchased an SEL convenience.
    I like the center console personally. Im taller, so having it more open and lower is more comfortable for my kegs to spread out a bit. I also feel like women would appreciate it as a purse could be put in the center easily, particularly with the cup holders retracted.
    Agree on the key fob though, i call it a "happy meal" key because it looks like a 25 cent plastic toy. Key on my 2022 elantra i traded in was much better quality!

    I have to agree 💯 about the center console, it's too open and Hyundai should've kept the enclosed storage or, better yet, for more privacy/security, the glove box should have a lock.

    I bought the Limited yesterday and I overall love it, it’s the best vehicle I’ve ever had by far, but things I don’t like about it are:
    1. Auto cruise too darn slow to accelerate off the line to get moving from a stop.
    2. No ability to turn the steering wheel during parking assist with the key fab
    3. Always needing to reactivate the auto following whenever the vehicle stops for more than a second, needs to be at least a good minute or more a bit annoying and counterproductive considering how convenient the feature actually is when things are stop and go traffic.

    • @CarsMadeSimple
      @CarsMadeSimple  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Congrats! Yeah unfortunately, the Kona doesn't have the ability to park itself. I assumed this would be included with the features it has been learned it wouldn't do it. I would guess it's only the software the vehicle doesn't have since it has the full range of sensors in the Limited. You can try adjusting the Smart Cruise Control sensitivity for the acceleration but I don't think it would make all that much difference. Thanks for the feedback!

    I'm driving a 2022 Kona Limited and for me, Hyundai went backwards in some of their aesthetics. I have the gray leather interior also, but my door panels are two-toned. A solid gray makes the inside cheap-looking. Also, a BIG DISLIKE is how they used the same 1.6 Turbo and therefore the MPG is greatly reduced as a result. Now, I have a year left on my current lease, so let's see what happens next fall (2025 Kona?) I agree with your dislikes in general. OMG! That keyfob looks horrendous! An open center console misses the mark! After all those Hyundai vehicles getting broken into, c'mon Hyundai! I also wish the arm rest extended as even in my 2022 Kona, my elbow doesn't reach the center armrest. Awkward. Final "nail on the coffin"? Dealer markups. I would have liked a HYBRID version in the U.S. For the same money, I'm also looking at a 2024 Toyota (best manufacturer) Corolla Cross Hybrid which has AWD standard. Toyota is very "plain Jane" with the interior design, but with a 42 MPG, I'll take plain over Spaceship design. Now if they lower the price on their EV....

    I dislike the absence of driver door lamps to alert other motorists you are opening or exiting the vehicle. They should have that standard for safety. I know i have it on my 06’ Elantra and found it useful. Per haps i could fit the doors with reflective tape or a bicycle reflector mounted on the driverside doors. Leg room another issue and comfort on long drives. Seeing the actual model in person and cargo space did not have the same quality of space as seen on this channel. Entering this car was cluster phobic. Too many buttons and no stick shift floor selector? For self defense driving, I like a gear selector stick shifter. If a fuse blows, how do you shift to nutral? Another thing i dislike: Wheres the CD player? I like to insert audio books to listen to. Not music and news. I like there is no ashtray. Does the glove box have a light inside it?
