Thanks for your insight bro. I have a Audi A3 2.0TFSI with a rattling wastegate and also sometimes it gives me a underboost fault code. Atleast thanks to your video it's clear where the issue lies.
Vw dealer diagnosed P2263 turbo supercharger on 2016 vw jetta tsi se but, no code breakdown so I looked over wastegate is ok then; cleaned & sprayed turbo. Looked over fuses & found a cracked main fuse #644 relay. Just ordered one $68. includes shipping $20. from vw. Aweful. Hope the problem. Car reves up start @2.2 rpms & goes down in couple minutes to average 1.2.
You know, if the rattle is minor, meaning just the play in the wastegate, the problem can be resolved without a new turbo. Especially since all it takes is a $6.00 spring assortment from Pep Boys and a little time with some dremel bits. All I did was dremel a hole through the wastegate arm, attach a spring between that and the wastegate actuator. Bonus is it increases the boost a few pounds, but otherwise acts stock. Saved me a few thousand dollars getting the same crap engineering with a new turbo that's going to do the same thing again...and chances are the car will be sold before the turbo itself actually dies.
So if you had the problem on a 20v 1.8t turbo you could just crank the wastegate tighter a few threads and snug things up. But in this case the wastegate flapper preload isn’t adjustable?
My scirocco sounds like it rattles/ticking but only when letting off the throttle. Not at idle or steady rpm. Idk if this is a problem or not, no error codes.
Hi, I have this problem with my audi a5 2011 2.0 tfsi. So are you saying that the clip solves the problem?. I have took the car to the garage and they have told me I need new turbo even though they said the turbo is good and works very well. But to be able to fix that rattle noise the whole turbo would have to be replaced.!!. With a problem like this does it mean that potentially the turbo can go in the future?
Thanks for the video! I recently went to a service and they told me my wastegate is the problem of the low boost pressure error on a 2.0 TSI Scirocco. Can I change only the wastegate or the only option is to replace the whole turbo charger? Thanks!
You are able to replace wastegate only! It requires a wastegate kit from eBay as well as access to a Grinder and welder. You need to grind the existing weld off the top of the wastegate arm. then you can Take the wastegate and arm out, then weld in the new wastegate and arm.

Now I get the wastgate rattle from 2-3k rpm. Dealer says it's normal. I called b.s. Asked to go for a ride with the service manager he agreed he hears the noise and claims normal boosting sounds. Drove another q3 on the lot didn't make the noise. Service manager claims its the turbo manifold noise, and will go away after it carbons up. They won't do anytime and I'm stuck. Do you recommend I try this clip? The car never ever rattled from new between 2-3k rpm. Only now after changing turbo. Have to escalate now with audi canada. Hey HumbleMechanic, I've heard that you can bend the actual actuator rod to create a tighter fit and eliminate the wastegate rattle - - is that true, or will it kill the turbo?
First time I got the code in 2016 I just replaced the Turbo. (Which really isnt too hard with proper tools/save you time) but at 250k miles it popped up again. I just bent the rod and all has been OK for the last year/25k miles. Ill replace it once it pops up again but would hate spending a grand on a car worth 500 bucks lmao. I recently received a wastegate flapper repair kit I purchased on Amazon, and I`ve decided that while I`m replacing the flapper and bushing, I`m going to cut the end of the actuator arm off and thread it, then install a female rod end bearing on the end of the actuator arm. I only hear it now when the car standing still and i rev up to 3000+ then let go of the pedal. I read that this dv keeps a small amount off pressure to get a better throttle response. Now the car feels much more "direct" to move when you gas. Before it had to rev for like a second before it moved. Hope my broken English isn't to hard to understand 😁 but maybe this is a fix for the rattle? And now I only hear the rattle from the arm? Well I hope so 😊
Hello HumbleMechanic. Could you help me with issue I have. I have a 1.8 tfsi CABD engine and when I start up the car when engine is cold, my engine sound weird. The sound is not loud but I can hear it. Also sometimes there is little bit white smoke when there is 15 celsius outside. If it is colder then it is more smoke. My coolant level doesn't change. Also when I drive at around 2.000 rpm if I let off the gas peddal there is like tktktktk noise I can hear but it is really quiet. Is it possible pcv system could be the issue? Now when at idle with hot engine if I open oil cap there is little pressure inside I think. That could explain little oil escaping from left side of the engine (exhaust side). Leak is not that big since oil level changes in mmi 1/4 every 6.000km. Any input would be great. I have obdeleven so I can do some test if you can suggest any.

I have obdeleven so I can do some test if you can suggest any.
guys would really appreciate a reply on this, I need one for the KO3 Turbo as this clip is made for Ko4 turbos and when i tried to install it on mine I had a small gap as it was big.

pls help ... car is Seat Leon FR (KO3 turbo, BWA engine)
Did you find solution for this ? Mine golf 5 gti tfsi AXX
@@user-bk2zj1rd4c couldn't find a clip for K03 turbo, i do have the same engine and turbo as yours... let me know if you found one man
@@nadimezzeddine1375 didnt but my actuator was totaly destroyed and turbo started leaking. So the whole turbo went for repair cost me around 1500euros
hello I owned 2012 vw 2.0 tsi Tiguan 4motion automatic (non DSG)
I want to upgrade my turbo to APR K04
is this possible ?
Is there a danger to the gearbox?
please answer to my question
No problem
Would a forge wastegate be ideal on an fsi with giac "stage 2"?
is there any fix for this issue aside from a complete turbo replacement?
yeah seems like a natural question they should have expected they would generate from this video.
I'm dealing with this problem p0299 waste gate loose 2011 tiguan 4motion 130K
I’ve heard of guys bending the bracket for the wastegate for a temp fix. Maybe worth a try
@@HumbleMechanic thank so much
Hey Charles! How about changing the wastegate actuator to aftermarket actuator like Turbosmart, which has an adjustable screws? Thanks in advance!
I have got a new manifold and it has the same wastegate clearance as before... so new ones are not fixes plates at all.
So is VW putting a long term warranty on the defective turbo versions, or are they going to be at customers expense? I have an early mk7 GTI and I'm a little scared to check the part number on the turbo.
this is a turbo from a mk6 tsi
hey charles, any suggestions for sealing a leaky elbow connector on the wiper washer pump of a mkv jetta? the pump pressure tends to push the connector away, and open the leak between the single flange outlet on the pump and the sliding clip point of the elbow connector.

No one can help me ? I have a mk6 Gti TSI same clip and it keeps falling off and it doesn’t stay in place it twists left and right still…
Is the clip bent? I’d consider trying another clip
@@HumbleMechanic I actually had gotten 3 incase that happened .. all of them seem to be the exact same thing
@@HumbleMechanic is there anyway I could possibly send you a video of my waste gate with the clip on ?
i tried to put one on my tiguan its impossible to get it on! there's barely room to get your fingers up to it with 4motion in the way and once you get the clip lined up i had no leverage to push it on as it's tight .so frustrating
Yeah the 4mo is tough
How do you fix that in an old turbo? Specifically in a '74 2.6 inline 6 Nissan Datsun 260z. Do you have to replace the whole waste gate or what?
Voor mensen uit Nederland. Voor 180 euro haal ik professional de ratel geluid uit de turbo met behoud van je turbo en zonder deze te demonteren auto direct klaar waar je bij staat. Stuur een reactie als je geïnteresseerd bent

seem like the 2.0 tsi is a vary unreliable engine, or at least every component it has is of poor quality
wondering if 1.8 tsi is the same
On 2.0TSI
Water pump fails
Timing chain tensioner fails
Air intake manifold fails
High pressure fuel pump fails
Turbo fails
Carbon build up (DI FAIL)
What else do we need to call it a bad engine?
The issues I have fixed: Bad conenctors to spark plug coils ($30 and a few hours time), variable intake manifold flapper actuator (VW replaces this under warrenty, even with the warrenty expired) and the wastegate rattle...$6.00 spring cures that.

this didnt help
such a shoddy design... why are they using a "loose" fitting on the gate instead of tig-weld it to the arm?, that thing WILL fail always....
it also looks like the arm don't even have a bearing it's just a shaft seal :/
Hello sir, Is it normal for smoke to come from the edge of the bronz bushing of Westgate when first started in the mornings on cold days. A white smoke comes for about 5 seconds, like cigarette smoke, then it stops. I am sharing the video link of the smoke th-cam.com/users/shortsZY7xVqLAg5w
Not normal at all
Try e clips.
Check code p0299?
will it work with the 1.5 dad engine type ?
I've got a 2010 leon fr with the 2.0 tsi. Is there supposed to be a circlip or anything where the actuator rod meets the turbo. I had mine completely separate itself from the turbo
