    There are very few toon boom harmony lessons in my language (Russian) and they are very bad. I am very glad that you got me in the recommendations. I like that you don't just list the tools, but also talk about their usefulness in your practice. Thank you.

      Oohh, hi Micah! Toon Boom Harmony is my favorite program by far for sure, but it's so different from TVPaint, feels like they're both are excellent at their specific things. Toon Boom is a great general animation and puppet program, and I appreciate the non-destructive motion-tweens using the peg system. Whereas you can never get how nice and traditional it feels to animate in TVPaint, and those brushes. 👌‍ So, I think they're both good at what they do!

    This was so comprehensive thank you! And so interesting to see how you taught your process and clarified certain tools and steps. I agree with some other feedback comments about getting to the animation stage quicker, but having this as a 4 hour video that people can skip through to the parts they most need is great (maybe dividing into chapters/sections would help navigate to these). My only other two points would be - you stress how you hardly ever use the brush tool anymore and that you find the pencil infinitely more useful for all tasks, and then you spend the rest of the video animating with the brush tool - that felt confusing. And similarly you stressed that the black arrow selection tool was the tool to use to edit images, and then you used the transform tool to move your reference drawings - again this might feel a bit confusing. No big deal though. Thanks again.

    • @jessejayjones
      @jessejayjones  ปีที่แล้ว

      All good feedback! Yeah, I agree with organizing things a bit differently for next time, and that's good to know that those two moments were confusing! I'll make sure to clarify why I'm doing certain things more in the future, and for the brush tool, I prolly just forgot and was just drawing without thinking about which tool I was using. xD

    Dear Jesse, it would be amazing if you could answer me this question: Despite the amazing features of Harmony's morph tool, I can't find any advanced resources on how to effectively make use of it, even on TH-cam. For instance, there's this owl created with the morph tool on ToonBoom's "learning center" I guess, but that's it, no explanation on how to actually do it. Do you know where I could search for a tutorial on that or are you maybe even planning on making a video about it? :) Thank you so much for the stream, your kind & patient teaching methods are amazing, really loved it! :))

    Thank you so much Jesse for this excellent course !.. You Rock !.. 👍👍❤❤🕊🕊 Speaking about Harmony Advanced, the fact is this version provides the four layers ( underlay, color, line art, overlay ) wich are very usefull, as you demonstrate in the course !.. Shift and Trace is provided as well... Thank you for showing us how you can manipulate the " image reference " and use it in the software !.. Again, thank you for this course : it is a must watch for every beginner in Harmony, and not only beginners !.. You provide the best approach I ever seen !.. Easy to follow, effective, congratulations for this course wich is unique !.. I highly recommand !.. 😉

    Hi Jesse, thanks for this tutorial. I'm a beginner animator looking to work freelance as well as do my own projects and I still don't what software to use. I've barely started opentoonz but the constant crashes and lack of recent tutorials make it difficult. So i'm thinking of going with the basic version of harmony. Given your credentials, what do you think ? As a freelance 2D animator, do i have to know harmony or can i get away with using something else as long as I get the job done ?
    Thank you

    • @jessejayjones
      @jessejayjones  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think Harmony is a great choice, especially if you're looking to do animation for work. It's an industry standard, and it's my favorite software to animate in! :)

      @@jessejayjones i did actually start on krita after watching your tutorial, thanks for that too ! It just seemed limited in terms of animating multiple layers and stuff like that... I don't remember if it has layers actually.. May I also ask your thoughts on using 3D animation software (blender, C4D) for 2D ? I know completely different and some might argue it's "fake 2D" but what do you think ?

I have a computer but it’s very old with little storage, and I’ve been needing to upgrade, so I want to get one that will run the latest toon boom software, the one that will run the best. Please help!! I’ve used both apple and windows computers, but I prefer apple because it’s just easier for me to operate. BUT if windows is preferred for toon boom, I have no issue getting one. Please let me know!!
