    Who’s the favourite characters back then in the good old days of corrie? I love Hilda and Eddie Yeats ❤ full of warmth and humour

      I was 11! Grew up with Grandparents and my Gran watched Corrie, so I remember it well. Only had the pleasure of visiting NYC once, felt very at home. I’m in Scotland. Corrie is appalling now, haven’t watched it for years, so loving the vintage episodes 😊

    The canal by Worsley really is picturesque with the style of houses and trees roundabout I used to pass by there twice a day on my way to school and back.. That was the early seventies. Even though the water was a rather bright shade of rust I still enjoyed the sight ! :) I wonder if they did anything about that since?

    Alma is absolutely maddening. I'm glad Elsie stood up to her. Being the boss's wife shouldn't entitle her to slope off whenever she fancies, and that dizzy face she pulls when she wants something isn't endearing at all, it makes her look simple.

    In America, Fred and his lady would be have been thrown out to the street. A fully grown man and his wife??? Pathetic. There are plenty of jobs and places they could have moved to and start a new life. Very juvenile and entitled. And Vera Duckworth would be fired for her attitude and demands.

    • @londonlady227
      @londonlady227 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Pretty clueless rent you about the state of the UK back then. High unemployment and many lived one paystub to another. I would say that Fred should've had savings to give them options as well as Eunice, as she had a full time job too. Personally I think Mrs Walker was too hard considering how long Fred worked there.

    • @larkatmic
      @larkatmic ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@londonlady227 Thanks for responding, Maybe so. But any man no matter what time or era, should never allow his lady to roost over him. When you do you will suffer. He should have, like you said, saved while working and made clear to his wife that she must follow his lead to leave Annie’s nest, not to use a situation conceived by her to stay. Now he is just playing like his wife in victimhood, that he helped in creating. And everyone can see how pathetic he has become. Mrs. Walker has always been a shrew and uncaring for her long term employees. Fred knew this about her for years as he wise crackingly talked behind her back on many episodes lol. Love Elsie Tanner. I cannot stand, Poison Ivy, Fred or Eunice. Annie Walker is being unreasonable though. And Billy cannot be coming to stay, because according to the Corrie Wiki Fandom site, the last time he appeared in 1979, was the last time he worked with Doris Speed
    I just love the way they all walk in and out of each others houses on Coronation Street. There is no way that was happening in the 1970s and 1980s. I've asked older members of my family about that. It's definitely artistic licence

    Why would a social worker ask Emily (who lives at no 3) about Len and Rita ( at no 9)? What could Emily tell them? If it’s who lives nearest on either side, surely that would be Ivy and Bert, or Elsie?

    Ironically watching this the day after the coronation of Charles and that Rottweiler, Camilla. How naive everyone was of what was going on, Charles was seeing Camilla even then. Poor Diana, she wasnt an angel, none of us are, but she didnt deserve any of that.

      Neither did he, he should've been allowed to marry the woman he loved rather than that poor, daft girl. 3 lives ruined just because the queen mother didn't like Camilla.🤦

    I find Mrs.Walker getting rid of Fred a bit odd. Surely she would have waited for him to get confirmation before hiring someone else. That said I don't think he's a very likeable character.

    Emily says the painter talked her into it! Well, Miss Emily, I’m sure that Mavis would rather be with a man than you! And she was so rude with that painter! She blurted out a cocky “no” and sat down! I think she’s jealous of Mavis! 😂🤣
