When The Melvins first moved to San Francisco in the late 80s, I had never seen a drummer quite like Dale. If Buzz's riffs were like soldiers attacking in a battle, Dale's drumming was heavy artillery backing up the offensive. He's also an all round drummer that can go from face melting fills to funk laden grooves with ease. Stylistically, he set the bar for the whole genre.
The Melvins are one of my all-time favorite bands and I have considered Dale Crover as one of my "Drum Gods" for many years. I had just started playing drums when I saw the Melvins live for the first time, opening for Primus in 1993. My sister, who was also my concert buddy, said the entire time the Melvins were playing, I just stood there watching Dale with my mouth open in complete amazement. He has been in the top 3 of my favorite drummers ever since.
He co-wrote so much stuff in Nirvana, they wanted him so bad to stay in the band but he believed more in the Melvins, I always liked that he is very very sharp and intelligent but approachable and down to earth, he wrote the whole rythm section of Drain You, damn, plus all the Melvins catalogue, one of the most underrated drummers ever. legend

I used to see them every year but I'm trapped in a place they will never come to again in texas and cannot get away . Bummed I missed this tour but everything has changed . I listened to metalica garage days revisited.With one of those yellow water proof walkman.Me and my cousin drained is parents car batterie listening to hit wit the ignition switch turned on and the engine off.That was after we stole every aa batterie inside every gadget jar cabinet ect...this album made quite an impression on us.The night i discovered Dale my wife was gone.It was november .....then it was may and my drumming had changed.even i would not have regognised it it was slow and the hits ..they ment something.they had purposs.Not speed tricks or ego plumage.I took a slice of the pie.Tank god for the algo - rytme.Dale is of those drummer that you absolutely must stumble uppon.At least for a winter .All alone in that appartment over the carwash.Night drumming !! Ian Paice is freakin’ fast and his style is incredible. His work on Machine Head is crazy good. The Stevie Nicks urban legend was hilarious 😂😂 Glenn Frey actually had to have surgical work done to the lining of his nose due to heavy cocaine use so maybe that legend pertains to him.
