Look up Shannon's law, in 1999 a 14 year old Shannon Smith was casually walking in her backyard when a stray bullet struck her in the head, leaving her deceased. Her father was an attorney, and with the help of many other legal professionals, they passed Shannon's law, making it a felony offense to negligently discharge a firarm within city limits(At least in Arizona)
As it should be honestly. You are responsible for where that bullet goes if you have a gun. Guns are not toys. Yes so long as you are safe it can be fun to go out to the range and shoot at targets but you still have to realize and keep in mind just what you are holding. The other thing that is more common that i feel people do forget about is cars. Those are 2 things you do not mess around with lightly.
I'm sure that bullet wasn't fired into the air though, if you fire a bullet straight up into the sky and it never leaves your property only the airspace above your property you never really put anyone at risk besides yourself and a falling bullet isn't going to be lethal anyways.

Ironically, I found Boogie while I was working as a correctional officer at a prison. While the booking process seems extreme with the searches, there's definitely a reason. Hey man! I’m glad to see everything worked out pretty much in your favor. I’ve loved your work since the early Francis days! Regarding being advised of your Miranda Rights, they dont have to do that in jail. I’m not a lawyer so I’m speaking from the patrol level, but Mirandizing (or advising of Article 31B rights for Service Members under the UCMJ) is only required prior to asking possibly incriminating questions. Seeing as to how a correctional facility doesn’t automatically constitute interrogation or questioning regarding any alleged involvement in prior criminal cases, it is 100% accurate that a 5th Amendment Advisement is not something you would do for initial processing.

Did about 5 1/2 years in prison in my 20s plus 4-5 jail terms from 1 or 2 days up to 5-6 months. Basically I spent about 2/3 of my 20s locked up off and on. I had a pretty bad drug addiction at the time. It sucked and most of the prison guards and jail deputies were honestly deplorable human beings. Actually the prison guards were mostly ok. The jail deputies though they were miserable human beings. I know they are just people with a job to do but alot of them get some sort of pleasure from making the inmates lives as miserable as possible. I’ve been out and off parole for over 15 years and have retired from the criminal lifestyle. Jail and prison are harder on some then others and over all Id say personality wise I was probably less affected by being confined then some others I met along the way. Prison and jail was mostly a place of introspection and anger for me, taking lives small pleasures as they came up and waiting to get out. I guess in some respects I am dumber then others it took a lot of trips through the system for me to decide that I was done giving the state my time. I took a look around one day at the age of 27 and knew that I had a choice to make , I could either change my behavior or become one of the 40-50 year old men who had spent their entire lives in and out of jail and prison. I decided changing was the right answer for me.
I don’t understand why they do that to you when you’ve been charged but not convicted. I had to go through the same thing. All the searches and humiliation without being found guilty of anything.
I was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol back in the spring of 2018. Thankfully, my experience wasn't so bad. The officers were nice (I was also nice to them) and I didn't have to spend the night in jail (thank goodness). I did have to pay $2,000 in fines and I lost my license for a month. For anyone that reads this, never drive drunk. Even if you have a few beers and decide to go for a drive, please don't do it. You don't realize what harm you could potentially cause.
Never seen this channel before or heard about the whole situation but after watching the legal issues video and this, you seem like a really genuine guy. Glad to hear that you are doing better now!
6:03 -- I'm glad you're okay, but this really rubs me the wrong way. I served three years in prison and by one afternoon in county jail I assure you that you did NOT get the "real prison experience". Again, I'm glad you're okay. The legal system is fucked in the U.S. and many other countries. I don't blame you for trying to make some videos about this, but keep in perspective that you barely experienced much of anything other than the fear you experienced while being out on bond (which truly sucks, yes). Also, the no drawstrings is mostly so you can't hang yourself. And you're completely right that it's deliberately dehumanizing and embarrassing all the shit they do. Just be glad you only experienced it once.
This isn’t a pissing contest he’s explaining his personal experience why does it matter that it’s a fraction of what you been through. I served a few months in juvenile and been at county before but got out on bond pretty quick. So I know more than boogie but less than you, I think he’s fine to say the “prison experience” even if it was just for a afternoon.
Fellow Arkansasan here. Thank you boogie for sticking around. I've never been to jail personally, but I feel for the experience you had and I hope this B.S. never happens to you again. I also hope you are doing better with gun safety/laws, and I'm glad you owned up to your minor mistakes.
Very powerful, thank you for this video. I was in a mental ward/clinic for 6-7 hours. I know some are better than others but same thing They had me locked up in a room, there's other people of course but sometimes they started screaming and yelling nurses shouting and being rude I started panicking like you said, its scary and traumatizing. Breaks my heart for others who have to stay there
Hey Boogie sorry you went through that, as someone who does work for the justice system and someone who also thinks at times myself and my co-workers have too much power over other people, I agree that what you went through was dehumanizing, the justice system needs serious reform, the entire system is built to keep repeat customers coming back, I've seen so many people get crushed by the wheel of the justice system I work for, they lose all their rights, sometimes lose all their possessions and end up homeless, sometimes feel like my entire job is simply keeping people from becoming homeless, let alone actually addressing the real issue that brought them to my office, the justice system kind of sucks because people kind of suck, and there are far too many power-hungry people with too much authority and power, everyday I keep myself in check to make sure I'm not one of them, we should be more focused on actual treatment and mental health rather than punishment and taking people's rights away
I did over 2 years in prison for a mistake when I was a teen, I’ve seen people be killed, I’ve been out for 5 months and I’m still not back to normal yet.
Glad to hear you count your blessings in that experience, Boogie. So many people that grew up like you & I did end up really familiar with being incarcerated because of the toll it takes on a person when they're in there. Our Internal demons are the worst when there's no way to distract yourself from them
Really glad to hear you've come out the other end of it, sounded like a horrible and tbh unfair experience. I think it is good to share the jail experience as well, important to remember the consequences of our actions sometimes. I've never been, but I'm terrified to break the law because I really wouldn't last long
Please make a comment something say it was jail not prison. You said prison over and over and ended it with that. Its a big difference. I enjoy your videos have stuck with ya. This is something I can't let slide. Jail and prison are very different things. You went to jail not prison. For folks who actually have been to prison this is a huge insult. I hate to be this guy but i am.
My dad and I got in a fight a couple years ago, and my mom ended up calling the cops on us. We both got booked into the holding area. And we ended up staying the weekend. I’m not sure why it took so long to get out. Neither of us wanted charges pressed against each other because we were father and son. In the beginning the cops didn’t even want to bring us in, but in our state regardless if nobody presses charges, even if you get in an altercation both parties will be taken to jail. Once my dad and I both got out, we were more mad at my mom than we ever were towards each other. I think that experience honestly made us have a better relationship. We were both put in different cells, With at least 8 to 9 other men in each cell. Soon after that happened my parents ended up getting a divorce, big surprise there right?
Gosh! While I'm glad you made it out the other end of the ordeal, and that you're finally legally and emotionally able to share this story, I can't help but feel bad at how some of your detractors are probably going to be dissecting bits of this video to create content that makes fun of your dehumanising experience.
"The people who stalk me" "The people who are obsessed with me" "I got the whole prison experience" "I'm in prison" "I spent 4 or five hours in prison" Wow this guy lives in a completely alternate reality hahaha
Glad this time is now in the past. It happened and the way to see it now is you have a experience that gives a lesson you can give to help others. In some way it happened for you to share and help someone else or to change something within you.
Boogie is not the most emotionally or mentally stable person (no offense). So harassing him and then showing up at his house is not the smartest of actions.
That seems really bad, damn. The list of straight up horror stories I've read about/heard..
A lot of it is because we still have like 60+ year old people in charge who think things are fine the way they are. These are people who believe the prison system should be about punishment rather than rehab

Hey boogie and to any one else who is curious, the Miranda rights are only told to you if you are in custody and before being question for an investigation. Its so you know that you are being questioned regarding a potential crime and everything could be used against you in court. Also I worked as a Correctional Deputy for a few months, trust us we don't like having to do the strip searches and stuff, but it is mandatory to keep the facility and inmates safe. You would be surprised at the things people try to bring into jail with them.
Jail absolutely destroys your mental health, doing days or going back multiple times sucks. As a former Corrections Officer, and also someone who got caught up in some shit and had to spend time in jail. You really fucking hyped this shit up man.....
See, I went through the juvenile system when I tried to stand up to my stepfather. What you described is what I had to go through at the juvenile detention center(JDC) in my city, minus the getting naked. My cell measured something like 10 or 12 feet by 15 feet. The door was 2 inches thick, steel. Had a window that was maybe 3in by 7in, but had a door that guards could use to close you off to the outside. The bed was a slab of metal that was affixed to the wall. You see, the JDC in my city was the original jail, before they built one out in the country. The food was so poor in nutrition that we were given a packet of powdered vitamin drink to supplement what we didn't get from the food(actually wasn't that bad). If I were to get arrested today it'd just result in my death by cop. I'm small. I'm 26 years old, but I'm 5ft 7in tall and weigh 115lbs. I'm prison candy. What I went through as a kid isn't anything compared to adult jail/prison. I just won't go through it now. Even on some BS I will just call it my end. What I go through day-to-day as an adult with Autism I would consider it a godsend to be relieved from this life, even if it makes me a villain. Why would I care after I'm gone?
Understand your frustration I have autism too but most people don't see it I think that's the autism talking I don't think any of that is what you would normally want to say I had autism ever since I was born and sometimes it's noticeable when I'm drinking and sometimes it's not and I am 26 years old and never went to jail and I broke in rules all the time like jaywalking and all that and in the city where I live it's perfectly fine you will never get any jail time you would love to live where I live Not that I suggest doing it where I live or wherever you live if it's OK there I'm just saying if you were to do it people wouldn't give a s***

Jail and prison are totally different as far as processing goes and what you went through was what happens in jail. As far as Miranda goes it does not apply unless you are being interviewed for said crime... Miranda probably happened when the officers first spoke to you while they were interviewing you at the time of the incident. As far as the meds go, think for a sec... pills that are loose in a jail setting... Those who work intake are not trained in drugs and they do not have the time to go and look at the numbers on each pill to see what it is... Your attorney should have told you to take the meds with you at least they have something which has a doctor's name and drug name on it. As far as they are concerned you are bringing contraband into a secured facility. Glad you were able to get out and everything turned out okay.
it's baffling to me that you can have a situation where a psychopath can be after you, threatening to come to your house and harm you but nobody will do a thing about it. As someone who has worked in law enforcement for a very very long time. I can tell you that prisons/jails do what they do for a very specific reason. Its designed to be uncomfortable and a bit dehumanizing. Its meant to be a bad experience, you are meant to suffer a bit mentally while you're there. They want that experience to be "the lesson" in that hopefully you have a bad enough time while you're there to not want to ever go back there. On some people it works, on some it doesn't. If it was a nice time there wouldn't be a point. Some prisons take it a bit further than others and I really feel like the COUNTY jails need to relax a bit because chances are if you're there it ain't something that serious, but federal prison needs to suck the worst out of all of em. They want you to get out of there and tell people "yeah it fucking sucks don't go there".
Man, When you described the jail cell. I started having a panic attack lol. I couldn't even imagine how you we're feeling. So glad you got through it. Enjoy those video games man. You deserve it.
I have severe anxiety, but I was comfortable in my cell. They put me in a two-man cell alone, so I felt safe in there. I spent the whole time in there (a couple weeks) reading. They didn't let us outside, but we had a "day room" with a few tables and a coffee machine. I would just get some coffee and go back to my cell.
Boogie, that was a very well organized account of what you went through. I remember having gone to another state, started a job where I worked from 8:00 until 6:00... had a car die, and I purchased a second-hand car in that state, but because of my work hours I could not get to the correct business which handled tags and registration in that state of Maryland between 9:00 and 5:00. so I was taking my wife to Walmart or an equivalent to Walmart one evening, and I got popped for driving a vehicle not registered to anyone. I was cuffed and taken to the county lockup. my wife was able to get home, maybe in the car. I was detained at what I think was a visitor's station, and I think (this was 1999, so some of the details are a little fuzzy) my intake was brief, and I wasn't re-dressed or detained with extended paperwork required. I think I finally met with the prosecutor an hour later, who released me on my own recognizance, and made me promise to get my car registered in Maryland within one week. :) I was just glad that my digestive tract did not need to be emptied while I was detained. :)

This is why I only leave my home for checkups, work, groceries and other essentials and hope that they don't come to my home for me.
Honestly, maybe look into what it would take to move out of America or especially a conservative state if that is where you happen to be. The legal system in this country is fucked and needs to be completely rewritten from scratch.

Thanks also, for shouting out the civil servants that put their lives on the line to protect us. F cops that abuse their office and give police a bad name. Stay safe, bud.
Odds of that happening is like winning the lottery
@@CAS89 and that makes it ok?
I'm sure that bullet wasn't fired into the air though, if you fire a bullet straight up into the sky and it never leaves your property only the airspace above your property you never really put anyone at risk besides yourself and a falling bullet isn't going to be lethal anyways.

Sadly the guy who trespassed was found not guilty and was let go with no consequences. So at the end, his goal to upset Boggie and humiliating him, send him to jail and lost of money was completed and was happy he did it.
That's gross. The judicial system is truly unjust

Ironically, I found Boogie while I was working as a correctional officer at a prison. While the booking process seems extreme with the searches, there's definitely a reason. I used to process new inmates and transfers into the facility some days, and the sheer amount of drugs and weapons you find on people and in their property is disturbing. But there is a reason for all the restrictions.
But Boogie is right. The whole system will mess you up mentally. Glad you only had to do a few hours in jail and not prison time. There isn't a salary high enough to get me to go back to that job. Our prison system is, for lack of a better word, completely fucked.
There is a great Ted Talk about this topic that might interest you, titled "Germany: Low Crime, Clean Prisons, Lessons for America | Jeff Rosen | TEDxMountainViewHighSchool".
The searches are only effective (and therefore, justified) if the COs are subjected to them too.
@@CNYKnifeNerd you aren't wrong. We had a large amount of people that would try to bring stuff in, from CO'S to upper management. We would go through metal detectors and at times would have a K9 check us and whatever we brought in. But a lot of contraband comes in through employees, no doubt.

Dude... you weren't in prison.. you were in JAIL.

Exactly
@Jaeger19Ultima The guy didn't have to get on a plane and go to someone's house threatening him though.
@Jaeger19Ultima you have any idea how many people had the same thought process and the time it took the cops to get there, the perp had murdered/raped/robbed them. Don’t rely on the police. Call them because it’s what you’re supposed to do but he was afraid and the guy threatened him.
@Jaeger19Ultima
Yeah and either wait an unbelievable amount of time for a "non-emergency" call, or hell, they might not show up all together!

@Jaeger19Ultima - Right. He should have let the guy finish beating down the door and enter the house, then he should have blown the guys brains out.
That's nothing compared to his 5 hours
this is the only type of content i liked in this channel other than positive francis skits like the hilarious burger review. glad i can resub now
I don’t understand why they do that to you when you’ve been charged but not convicted.
And if you do drive drunk get a very good lawyer. You can beat a DUI
I also advise that no one ever stands up for themselves. Because that is punishable as well.
@@Thebombonlyone You'd be paying as much, if not more than the fine by admitting guilt. Just realize you screwed up and pay the fine.

Yea, seriously.
If you went to jail, you wouldn't have been barefoot... they immediately issue orange crocs with your jumpsuit

I was just glad that my digestive tract did not need to be emptied while I was detained. :)
