- The Llŷn Peninsula Coastal path runs from Caernarfon in the north to Porthmadog in the south and is approximately 97 miles long (this depends on which route you follow). We chose to start in the south and headed north up the coastline. We had originally planned on doing this hike without Toby and were hoping to complete it in 5 days, however, we made a last minute decision to take him with us and walk at his pace, ensuring he had plenty of rest along the way.
The Llŷn (or Snowdon's Arm) itself is a place of outstanding natural beauty and the peninsula juts 30 miles into the Irish Sea off north-west Wales. Along the way, you'll enjoy cliffs and headlands, hidden coves and beaches, small fishing harbours and towns, tiny pilgrim's churches, and some of the most beautiful scenery you could ever see. You may even get to see porpoise, bottle nosed dolphins or Atlantic grey seals; we only got to see the latter, and many of them, which was a beautiful sight.
The Llŷn really is a magical place.
We hoped you've enjoyed joining us on our adventure,
Ryan, Marianne & Toby.
So nice to meet Marianne ! Kia Ora! What a wonderful hike so far! Glorious scenery and happy times! Pats for dear Toby ❤
Hi, Amanda, I hope you are well. It was great to have her along on the hike, we had an excellent time. Toby is here chilling by my side and getting some pats. Best wishes, Ryan, Marianne & Toby.
@wildaboutwales am having a great time back home. Currently in the New Forest amongst the ancient trees. Hoping Royal Mail works some magic to get a dram of Infrequent Flyers to you!
@@amandakaiviti5749 that's great, so nice to hear you're enjoying your time back home. And the weather has been better than usual, which is a bonus. Ah, wow, thank you so much, Amanda...so very kind of you 🙂
Ryan the mail couldn't find you, I only had a best guess vague address on the box. Please use code KD455111395 GB to tell the post office where to send. I gave your name, WOW and a post code. Sorry!
Mate well done, yet another great video and hopefully the Welsh tourist board will take note🏴🏴🏴🏴81
Thanks, buddy. It really is a beautiful part of Wales on this Peninsula, we loved it up there.

That was great! Nice to see the whole family out. Beautiful scenery too. Well done on getting the video out so quickly - I'm sure it's a lot of work.
Thanks, buddy. Yes, the editing keeps me busy but I enjoy it at the same time. It was nice to have Marianne out in this one, we had a great time.
Some beautiful views. So nice to meet Marianne! Looks like a great hike. You’re a great dog owner! Always keeping Toby’s best interest ahead of doing distance. See you in part 2!
Thank you, Chris. We had a wonderful time, it's a beautiful part of Wales. See you in part 2. ATB, Ryan.
Looking forward to part 2 already - the Llyn peninsula is my old stomping ground for camping. We took a trip last summer and it’s still as beautiful as ever! Great video as always Ryan. Lovely to see your missus joining you and Toby as well. Great stuff
What a cracking start to what promises to be an excellent series. Stunning coastline plenty of places to re supply and camp.
Great video as always, loving the scenery and seeing Tobes having fun! My labradors love the sea, we were in Anglesey earlier in the year for a week so looks like we need to visit that area as well! Looking forward to part 2!
Thank you, Chris. It's most definitely worth a visit, some of the beaches we visited were just beautiful. Toby loves the sea too, he had a great time. I need to visit Anglesey, myself. ATB, Ryan.
What an incredibly beautiful place, made all the better by that fantastic weather! Nice to see Marianne out with you. Toby was in his element with the added bonus of sausages. Great stuff.
Hello, John. It really was beautiful up there, we loved every minute of it. It was great to have Marianne along for the trip, and Toby loved it. Many thanks, Ryan, Marianne & Toby.
Just realised the first beach in your video is the one I was talking about Samson bay it may be called something else as well
I know the one, it's also known as Morfa Bychan. Probably the prettiest beach of the hike.
Showing our beautiful country in all its glory 🏴🥾
Thanks, Craig. It's a beautiful part of Wales 🏴
For a 1970s Scouse kid, this is a proper trip down memory lane. I fired up Google Maps to see how many of the chippies and gift shops were still going. That coastline is cracking and I'm glad you filmed the hike.
Thank you, Martin. It's a great place to have spent your childhood, it's a magical place. Thanks for watching. ATB, Ryan.
I did this route last year. Didn't get weather like you did though. And I was solo because my missus wouldn't join me. So you've got me beat 2 to 0! (Extra thumbs up for the Twin Town reference 👌)
The weather can make all the difference in a coastal hike, we were so grateful for the sunshine. It turned bad a few days in and it became a whole different walk. It's a fantastic hike. Fingers crossed you get better weather next time
Cracking stuff Ryan and nice to meet the misses aswell mate. proper little adventure along the coastline of our beautiful country 🏴
Thank you, Carl. It was great to have her along, we had a great time. ATB, Ryan.
A brilliant video, nice to meet mariane, what cracking weather you had, very lucky. I love the film work again, spot on and we look forward to part 2. 😊
Thank you, Neil. We were very lucky, the sunshine made all the difference. ATB, Ryan.
This is most definitely a epic hike along that beautiful coastline, you got some beautiful shots on this one. Really enjoyed this, the 3 of you together on a awesome adventure. Look forward to part 2
It was fantastic, Dai, we loved every minute of it. We need to see you up there van lifing it now 😉
@@wildaboutwales it's a plan Ryan. Probably go next year 👍
Loved it, thanks for sharing this first part of your journey with us. Who needs to travel abroad when we have beautiful scenery like this
Thank you, Stuart. Very true, we have some true beauty in Wales. Thanks for watching. ATB, Ryan.
Beautiful scenery there, Ryan and with Toby setting the pace you can take it all in. Nice that you come upon the towns along the way to stop and have a bite and a rest. Marianne seems to be enjoying the hike as well. Give Toby a pat for me as well.
I sure will, Ed, he loves the attention. We had a great time, it was a beautiful hike. Many thanks, Ryan.
Another excellent video, great to see Marianne in it too. I didn't realise how beautiful the Llyn Peninsula is ! Definitely due a visit.
Thanks, buddy! It took me by surprise too, it's most definitely worth a trip up there.
I think thats made my mind up for my next long hike mate, stunning to say the least👍
You wouldn't be disappointed up there, mate, it's a magical place.
Really enjoyed this one! Can't wait for part 2.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed!
Makes a change Ry, usually Toby gets all the sausages :)
He still had his fair share, Mart, and a few kilo of meatballs along the way 🙂
Great video, mate, and nice views 😊
Cheers, Baz. It was beautiful up there.
Great film, well done. wonderful area.
It's a beautiful place. Thanks for watching.
Awesome, mate, I should do this, too. Which is the best time of the year to find a campground (small tent). Also I would not like to run into too many tourists (Snowdonia or Anglesey...). Any recommendation?
Cheers mate, looking forward to the next part!
Early September is usually quite good. The weather is often not-too-bad, and most of the tourists have departed
@@ExplorerJust Thanks, that's what I needed to know. So, one year to wait...🥴 Cheers, Michael
Yes, as Just said, early September would be a good time to do it. There's so many campsites along the Peninsula you'll be spoilt for choice. It was nice and quiet too, not too many people.
Know at that coast well lovely video glad Toby dog is getting good rests❤ thank you for taking us along 😊
Thank you, Sharon. It's a beautiful place, we absolutely loved it up there. ATB, Ryan.
@@wildaboutwales I remember being stranded in Pwllheli in December in the rain with my old dog dotty, didn’t realise the trains were only every 2 hours, nothing was open when we got there and what was open didn’t allow dogs 🙄🤣 i will never forget the time I visited Pwllheli for sure
@@SharonHabberley The Peninsula definitely isn't somewhere you want to be stranded 😂 We were lucky to make it back to the car at the end of the hike.
Looks awesome!
It really was, we loved it up there, Just.
