I’ve been issued two pairs of military AKU’s with goretex (Griffins and Pilgrims) and bought a pair of non goretex Pilgrims myself to complement them in the summertime. By far after my 32 years of service these are the best boots I have ever worn and I’ve tried a lot.

I have two pairs of these, brilliant boots, I'm a heavy guy and the soles are super supportive. After a couple of years the soles needed replacing but the uppers are solid.

I've been wearing mine for years. My only complaint is that there is no cushion on the insole so the bottom of my feet can become fatigued.

At least that's something that can be relatively easily remedied.

Upon asking guys who have owned and actually worn these and put them thru the ringer..... For hiking and light work they are ok but long rucks or really putting them thru a day of training or anything involving water and walking after these boots are basically 500 degree ovens that cook your feet and turn them into raw meat. These are light duty only.. this is a military opinion nothing outside what we use em for. So I'd say it's a decent civilian boot

I’ve trained with Bob Keller (former unit badass) and he was wearing the Selvatica mid boots in that class. I had on the Pilgrim PS (non Goretex) and found it untere that he has AKUs on. He said many in the unit liked the boots. And the British SRS unit has the AKUs as well.
If you are in the Mountain Division you can get the heavier AKU boots for stabilization. The TSC boots from AKU are made for desert environments (like Arizona, Middle East, etc) and for quick response teams (SWAT, military units) and not for heavy loads and long distance. If you need that, look for the Combat boots from AKU.

So basically we just spent five and a half minutes to learn that we have to go to the website or find another video with some in-depth review on them.
