As a child i remember watching surfing competition that was held at night at MAKAHA with search lights spotting the waves and surfers riding the waves to shore. Must of been early 60s! Aloha from westside Oahu.
@@MK-su6eg awesome. Here in Indiana mid to late sixties watching surf contests on Wide World of Sports I guess it was on tv, And cold snowy weather here, I fell in love with surfing.
I’m really old but leashes were already being used when I started surfing . Just saying if someone started surfing before there were leashes - well that was a LONG time ago
@@MoviecraftIncyou're right gotta love it. Thing is when first saw it thought it had been edited recently but now I can see it's actually the original sound so that gives context and yes no matter I may like it more or less I gotta love it tells so much about the whole story
Warren Miller, the ski vid master, RIP. This classic reminds me of surfing in the morning, then skiing in the afternoon in California.
This is a gem 💙
Great footage. thanks. I dig the music too.
Thanks 👍

Cool vid
Amazing.
Thanks!
A wonderful Warren Miller film
Before there were leashes we did a lot of swimming.
You must be REALLY old
@@charleskeefer135 I've spent a lot of time in the ocean. Are you a youngster?

Believe it or not, but other surfers would grab your board if they could. Times have changed. Unfortunately.
If we had leashes in the '60's it would have done some serious damage to our leg and back.
So very different to chasing slabs.
Greg Noll was master at Waimea.
Noticing the "hands" ..
😂
not sure whether to hate or love the music
Come on, love it!😉😉
