    For a better comparison I would have tested the 7i Blueprint against the 8i G710 as those two clubs have virtually the same loft and the shaft length would have been closer.
    Before looking at numbers my guess of the carry difference between the irons is going to be a full 20-22 yards - the loft difference is equivalent to a full club so that is 12 yards, then add in effect of vastly lower spin and extra shaft length and you get to 20-22 yards

    My biggest problem with the 710 is the black coating. I am afraid that the coating will wear off and the clubs will look worn ratrher quickly. If they were offered on a chrome finish I might consider them.

    Last year I tried out the G700 and G710 and the G700's were much easier for this mid handicapper to control and gave an average of about 6 yards advantage G700 for each club I tried. Love my G700's. Good video James. 👍🏌️‍♀️

    Tested the G710s this year and really liked them. Really nice clubs. Didn't mishit a shot on test but every so often, caught a complete flier which was about 15 yards further and scared me a bit for the course! They looked fantastic too, although did have slight concerns about them scratching/scuffing, and for that price.... In the end, went for some Titleist T200 irons and no regrets so far (but barely played due to course closures!)

    I wonder when manufacturers will drop calling clubs by numbers like 7 iron & call it my 33° because the loft is really what are talking about for distances along with shaft length. I'm going to start a one man crusade on this point. Btw, on wedges my idea has already taken off because it makes sense.

    I managed to get a 201 yards carry on the Ping G710 7 iron on Trackman...my mind was blown....I usually carry around 170ish with my Ping G-series 7 iron...the change in loft coupled with the new tech from the G-series to the G710 is insane. Great video James. When I first saw the Blueprint irons I fell in love immediately. But It was the same when I saw Victoria Secrets model for the first time. I just knew that no matter how much I liked them, I wasn't going to be playing with either. I merely had dreams of perhaps one day I might be good enough. And at age 55 I only have a great future behind me so not much chance of that happening.

    Not playing my G700s much lately, but thinking about trading them for the G710 after trying them while paired with someone who had them. He had them with the ascending weight graphite shafts, and I took a swing with the wedge, and hit it dead on line at the flag, six inches short of the hole. Surprising, since I've tended to pull-left the shorter clubs of the G700 set.

The blueprints are a wonderful feeling club when hit solidly but as you said, no margin for error. I recently gave up my blades as it seemed silly with all that is available today. It’s not about distance , it’s about consistency , in distance and striking , if you can hit blades consistently then you will always get consistent distance and spin rates , ball flights Etc. game improvement irons have more variance , there is a reason tour pros use blades or something very close to it , the whole game is about. Distance control and accuracy , it’s like using a rifle with open sights compared to one with a scope mounted on it ,

    You're making claims unsupported by data. From the actual data I've seen the dispersion front/back & left/right is tighter with more bladed clubs on average. This makes sense from a physics perspective. If you have a springy face as all of these current GI and SGI clubs do and you don't hit the middle, you lose the spring effect and lots of distance. With players clubs you're not hitting a thin and springy face, it's much thicker and more solid so you get more consistent distance across the face. Players clubs are shorter but more accurate. So your question really is, do I need another 20 yards based on the number at the bottom of the club or do I need to hit more greens, avoid more hazards and get closer to the pin?

    • @johnnypenso9574
      @johnnypenso9574 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try this. www.todaysgolfer.co.uk/equipment/best/golf-irons/#Best%20Player%20Irons%202020
      Scroll down and you'll see charts comparing variations in distance.
      Top 5 Players Clubs vary 5-10 yards.
      Top 5 GI Irons vary 11-13 yards.
      Top 5 SGI irons vary 10-15 yards.
      If you take the median figure of each range of clubs that's 7.5 yards front to back for players irons, 12 yards for GI and SGI irons. That's 2.25 yards closer to the hole, front to back, on average, for the top 5 players irons vs the other 2, assuming in all cases your average shot is pin high (aka you picked the right club).
      If you go to the bottom of each list you get 17, 22 and 25 yards. Even the worst player's iron outperforms the worst GI and SGI clubs and by a significant, stroke saving margin.

      If you hit enough balls then your hits and mishits will balance out. Your best counter is essentially, "I don't believe it". Well, publish some data of your own and let's take a look at it. MyGolfSpy also does independent testing of irons annually, over several categories, multiple players, totalling 50,000 shots and they show similar results. Keep in mind, they aren't doing these tests to compare between categories of irons it's just some of the data that happens to be available from the testing. I'm sorry but I'll believe the 100s of thousands of balls hit by independent testers over the years showing the same results year after year before I'll believe marketing that defies basic physics and some random guy on the internet.

    I bet the lofts are at least one to two clubs different to be fair

    Average only two yards of roll, so that descent angle had to be crazy

    So why is it that you think you have to hit blades? Hard to ignore the numbers. Maybe need a TaylorMade comparison. Interesting.

    I really enjoyed that, but quite happy with my fitted G410s thank you. My irons are the weak point of my game, so I need help, but the 710s look too big.

    Surely you should have gone 8iron on g710 against the 7 blueprint

  • @MrSitemaster2
    @MrSitemaster2 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Given the lofts that G710's almost a five iron.

    Time to stop being silly. Why compare a club that goes 158 to a club that goes 188. Compare 2 clubs that go 158, did they hit target, did they stop? You are not going to grab a 7i from 158 on the course and rip it 30yds over the green because it has a 7 on the bottom.

      @donstage933 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You still get to say this set I used an 8iron but in this set I had to hit a 6 iron to get it there. You still get that distance comparison your looking for.

    Why do good looking irons always have a con? Too hard to hit, too clicky, too much offset. Mizuno has come the closest with the HMB's at least.

    the blue dot on the blueprint is not the right lie angle for you.

    Those Blueprints really are nice, but for me I'd may aswell be using a banana lol. Also love the look of the g710 but wish they weren't quite as extreme in loft and offset.

    a 4 iron against a 7 iron. yep the 4 iron that is stamped as a 7 iron is longer

      Agreed, not to mention how much easier the 7 iron 710 would be than the 6 or even 5 iron blueprint to get to that distance.

      Thanks James.... I tried the blueprints, G410s and i500’s.... went with the i210s - great irons that are forgiving (most of the time) and feel great! Maybe soon my game will be good enough for the blueprints...
