- This week we have a special guest in the workshop - Joel from the TH-cam channel @itsjoel brings in his poorly Jaguar V8 S-Type for some repairs following it's latest MOT.
Once the car was on the ramp we we're able to sort out the minor mechanical issues and show Joel how to get his hands dirty. We then inspected the rust on the underside of the Jag and found out things weren't quite as straight forward....
Is this the last viable year for the V8 cat or can we convince Joel to persevere with yet more repairs? - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ

Yeah my advice to Joel was to bring it back so we can have the time to cut the outta and inner sill off to replace both. Our only downside is that we don’t have a 2 post ramp 😅 ( we do need one ) but that’s nothing that’s stopped us so far 😁
A mate of mine just recently bought an X reg Jaguar S type, from a garage he loves it. It done over 100,000 miles from new.

Recommended video via Its Joel. Genuinely enjoyed watching this, you guys have a good format and very watchable! Reminds me of Sretan of M539 restorations. Watching has motivated me to get back on my own content.

@@maddercustom just make sure you keep the humour element in each video - has joel found all those post its yet? 🤣. I was impressed with how you blend in the voiceover with talking to camera, must take some planning and scripting!
I think he found a few of them 😂 but at least he knows where they all are now to which he found the funny side to 😅.
Yeah the videos take some thinking about and the hours in editing is a job in its self 😅 but I really enjoy it ( Trav ) and also enjoy the hands on bit so it all works out. Rob try’s to get over where he can and he’s hoping to get back in on the channel more as we do have a good laugh between us 😎
@@maddercustom dont i know it - 2/3 hours filming can turn into 15 hours editing 🤦♂️ (dinosaur like me anyway 🤣). I shall be following your Z3 coupe playlist with interest, one of my fave cars of all times - i have a BMW E31 840 which is an ongoing labour of love and i had all its rust cut out last year and filmed for the channel. As these things do it went in for one small job and it snowballed into a year long thing ending with a full respray! Next job on the list is an underside refresh, give it a good clean take rear subframe out and redo all the suspension, fuel and brake lines 😬. Good luck with your adventures Trav!

Rockauto in USA has lots parts listed for these including the brake hoses even with import and taxes their cheaper and because it’s the USA they had the v8 which is actually a Lincoln Ford engine I believe . I had one and fitted lots of new parts on mine a lot sourced in USA .
It's a 'strut'. The 'shock' is a damper. It's the spring that absorbs shocks! 👍As for rust, a 1999 E Class or E39 5 Series would be much, MUCH worse.
Spring does not ABSORB shocks. Jeez…

This was such a good video, whilst at the same time being super informative! Like everyone else I’ve probably come from Joel’s channel 😆 also this was definitely an unwanted reminder for me to get the 4C suspension serviced in my S60R. Needs must 😭

You definitely need a proper work shop with a higher ceiling so you can fit a 4 point car lift.
Yes we defiantly do 😁 which will hopefully come in time. This set up was to get us going which has worked well so far 🙌🏻
Joel ...... Just scrap the thing and hire an S Type for your wedding. .... This wasn't the cheapest in the county was it. .... You must make shed loads of money from TH-cam for these posts - enough to cover your costs and a few extra quid in your bank account from sponsorship deals. .... That's very clever, well done you !!

Jags are prone for rotten sills x types especially but you can get sills for them 👍
£150 for a pair of shocks seems OK. I wonder what the quality is like
They weren’t terrible to be honest. I’d say jaguar shocks would have been better but also another £150 😅

Anybody with the sort of money Richard Hammond has got is incapable of understanding the cars that the rest of us drive and should not even be commenting. Secondly he has a history of buying ‘performance cars’ despite obviously being incapable of handling anything more powerful than a minibus.
