- Today we leave The City of Chiang Mai for the surrounding Hills. The journey is long and winding but the beauty we find in these Northern Thailand Hills is amazing. Come along as we visit a Hill Tribe and meet some of the residents.

I lived and worked with the Akha hill tribes for a month years ago. Will never forget it. They had their kids at the foot of the mountain so their kids went to Thai schools (learning Thai, English and computers). We worked in the green tea fields all day, at night we would teach them English, then they got to teach us Thai. The kids loved hearing us learn and say Thai words. Would always make the kids laugh. Great times, great people up there

Doi Pui looked beautiful. The girls in their Hmong clothes are stunning. You ate 'kao soi' which I think is one of the sweetest curries, delicious. The views from there were beautiful. Thanks for the memories.

Wow, Lucas, you've done it again! You've brought me to an area that is just gorgeous with all the fantastic views, colors and textures. And of course Vee is looking very pretty as always. The dress is very beautiful and of course everyone has a phone. I wish it was 70 degrees here but you can't expect that in the winter in Ohio. I understand why Vee isn't coming with you on your adventure and look forward to video and comments from both of you. Be careful hope to see and hear from you soon!

We are currently in Chiang Mai and will in a weeks time move on to Pattaya. I have to say we have really enjoyed our time here and will likely return for a few months again. It can be a little sad to be the only couple in a restaurant or bar, I hope things pick up soon for the people here.
I was at Doi Pui about 4 years ago, it is a wonderfully beautiful place, but it was so chilly at the top….very nice Lucas!

Loved the video i was there a long time ago 1987, up in the mountains to a Buddhist temple, so cool air like water vapour so nice & refreshing,how its changed must go back there at some point.

Northern Thailand seems be quite beautiful. I've been to Chaingmai once back in 2001. That's as far north that I've traveled in Thailand.... Hope I get to come back for a visit in the future...

We have a place in Vietnam called Da Lat , it’s also up in the mountains and they produce a lot of fruit & vegetables. They do make their own wine , red & white , a bottle of Da Lat wine would cost about 3 dollars. I’m not a wine connoisseur but I would rate it as crap. Nice upload

A long time ago...
I took a bus to Doi Inthanon.
There is a radar station on top. I then started walking back. After a long walk, I got a ride back to Chiang Mai in an old jeep with a few students.
There was no radio in the car, but the girls were singing all the way down to Chiang Mai.
Realy nice day.
Better than taking a tourist tour to visit the undiscovered hill tribes.
I'd rather listen to the singing than the radio anyway, sounds great 🤣👍

Stunning scenery, and the traditional dress looks fabulous! I have it in mind that it's not worn by hill tribes on a normal day to day basis, but only for the tourist attractions, would that be correct?
I think so, the whole place is geared for tourists, but that is their traditional wear, or maybe Sunday best.

I once spent 7 days in Chaing Mai and enjoyed. Stayed inside wall and visited haunted house which was spooky! Also went to village in mountain still have hand painted picture from cutie with several rings extending her neck. Great place not expensive like Bangkok

I trekked a Karen village years ago,hiking.opium,elephant riding,and rafting down the mountain river!Also bought purple weed from a native along the raft ride down mountain.

No, not really a wine drinker, but quite reasonable at about 12 dollars per bottle. Wine is generally expensive here.
I miss living in CM...27 years ago it was much less touristy and had a chilled vibe to it....easier to understand Thai as they (the locals)speak more slowly but the food is excellent and cheap...or was.....went back 13 years ago and the vibe was the same but the choking season is a killer with the worst air pollution in the world.

Hi Lucas, when I was stationed in the PI for a while, my blood was so thin ,it was orange. And it would get down to 60 degrees and I'd be cold than a snow man. I know what your going through. Pretty up there.The wine guy didn't filter it, that's is quit a process. I have a feeling they grow coffee beans in the area. You should have bough some coffee ,but be selective, you missed out on some very good coffee. And it would be fresh, different taste. Thanks Lucas
