"...that no one knows or cares about..." If the Custodes are so unimportant, why are tourists so determined on changing them instead of leaving them be?
That was my exactly thought. NOBODY cares. NONE. Supposedly. I care, they even decide to make the now two depicted female custodes complete dicks too(ironically) Custodes aren't meant to be emotional, but the girl ones seem to just be needlessly cruel. Even punishing a dude with servitorisation for not wanting to teleport a warp nuke into the emperor's throne room.
@@Captain-Thievius They got their foothold in with the primaris. The idea of "even super-er super soldiers" was trialed with the raptor project, and that didn't really stick. They've proven that they'll compromise.

He is a breadtube leftist. They don't care about fact or logic, only narratives. Acknowledging the Sisters of Battle will debunk his strawman that people who don't like fem-custodies just hate women.
Remember gents, they would not need to appeal to triviality and resort to personal attacks if they didn't care about the change. They care because you care, and they can't have that.
When they state, "it's such a small thing, why do you care?" My reply is always the same, "It's such a small thing, it mustn't be worth your effort to push it." At that point it's usually the basic, "you're - ist, - phobic, incel" The left always devolves into.

@@xenostar6482 I’d highly recommend Wendigoons video on it, and its sequel(Paradise Regained). Long story short, the very same media literacy people who bitch about people liking anything about the imperium in 40k, will read Paradise Lost and literally side with the actual devil. “Media literacy” for them is “the *correct* way to read a story is in a way that reinforces my current grab-bag of beliefs and impulses” “Ummm you’re not supposed to like Paul Atreides! It’s called authorial intent, chud!” “Ooo here’s my queer reading of Lord of the Rings!!!” “Nooo you can’t sympathize with the imperium!! They’re fascists! On a deeper level I think they just rebel against whatever POV they imagine their dad would pick.
When I stumbled upon this adam soyjak a few years ago, one of his videos featured him saying how he wants the best for everyone, pointing out how the policies he supports are the solution to humanity's woes. If that isn't a massive soul-spanning red flag, I don't know what is.
It's funny how those that want others to follow their dictates and tenants at the force of the government often call those that seek not to be under the thumb of the government fascists.
He supposedly used to be a Sargon follower, but was miraculously saved from being a rightoid by listening to leftists. At least this is how he tells the story.
Adam Something also likes the T'au which is the first red flag. If you do look into some of his other videos I'd recommend the ones he did on ancient statues, they are hilarious. He believes the far-right hate when museums present statues accurately with paint on them because they view the pure whiteness of unpainted statues as a racial thing. He is truly delusional.
Why wouldn't they support a faction that "peacefully" mind controls their own people making them end themselves over mild slights and wishing to bring the entire galaxy into the fold. You can tell when a Tau player actually understands their lore because they play as Commander Farsight's rebels.
@@VioletDeathReiFunny thing is that, the Tau wanted to live peacefully with every other species, but yet they subjugated other worlds of other species and assimilated the people in it into their own "Unbiased" society

This guy does not know what he’s talking about. He treats exterminatus as if it happens daily when they’re unbelievably rare, and there’s got to be a very high bar for it to be acceptable even if it’s effective. Specific example is the inquisitor Fidus Kryptman who used exterminatus on multiple planets to slow down hive fleet leviathan. He was excommunicated because the loss of resources and manpower was too great to warrant the slowing down of the hive fleet. So no Adam, Space Marines do not spend 90% of their time pulling a No Russian on random planets for funsies. Exterminatus is the last resort of last resorts.

The whole "92% of players play Paragon in Mass Effect" thing is likely for 2 reasons: 1. Mass Effect is an entirely different setting from 40k, where things are hopeful enough that humans and aliens are able to work together. 2. Renegade playthroughs were neutered in Mass Effects 2 and especially 3.
3. Renegade choices were too often chaotic stupid within the context of the setting. Even when the player knows it is a game and Renegade is a valid path (hence no real negative consequences), if you were trying to *role* play then Paragon was the only sensible option especially given point #1.
@@Xhaleon There is only one choice where I can see myself reliably agreeing with the Renegade choice: save the fleet to engage with Sovereign rather than fighting the Geth to save the council. But that choice also was neutered due to the fact, militarily, there is no real drawback to saving the council.
@@AAhmou There is a pretty solid drawback, but you can make up for it by doing other things. That part of the Mass Effect 3 controversy also showed why games in general give you more resources than you need.
Also, Renegade writing was unbelievably idiotic 90% of the time - picking fights where none were warranted, active insubordination and self-sabotage despite the premise of that character being ruthless efficiency, Shepard acting hysterically in the most mundane environments as if being mentally ill, et c.

10:04 I don't play the tabletop game but I love the lore of the 40K universe yes I hate the female custodies but because it goes against the lore not because they're women
@@TempoLOOKINGThe sisters of battle are badass psycho nuns with miracle powers to put a bolt between your eyes without even aiming. But they're not space marines... which is why the commies ignore them.
The irony on this dude saying that nobody knows or cares is I do not think he does either. Sisters of Battle, Sisters of Silence, Calidus assassins? No? Guess we'll ignore those women as they're inconvenient. Especially Eldar women, who have been there for...ever, I think. The people who think they are media literate tend to be incredibly illiterate about these franchises. And then he brings up Russia...why? You do kill civilians in 40k videogames. Darktide has you killing everything in your way between you and your goal. you could argue that they've all fallen, but you go through whole hive levels, in theory someone could surrender to you, to try and link up with imperial forces, but don't. While most of the enemies are male, not all are, with some of the specialists being female and a few of the scavs(don't think i've heard a female voice for the dregs from the regulars). You don't kill children, but to be fair, in a nurgle infested place, children probably don't survive anyway.
Note how it's only an issue when the Imperium and its literal super soldiers genetically engineered to be men is concerned. No goth necron or thick tyrranid bug women allowed? Also ignores that the worst war criminals eldar have to offer are not male.
It's rather simple I think. The only thing casuals know about 40k are the space marines. And space marines don't have women. So the 40k universe don't have women in it. Which makes it weird that they put used the Custodians as the faction to now all of a sudden feature women. A faction nobody outside of the actual fans know about. I seriously question that decision because it changed nothing in the eyes of the people who only know the Space Marines. Space Marines still don't have women. 40k Universe still don't have women. "Custodians have women? Wtf is a Custodian? Warhammer 40k? You mean Space Marines? The one that don't have any women?" I myself had no idea Custodians even were a thing until after I saw the series "If the Emperor had a text-to-speak device" by Bruva Alfabusa a few years ago. Despite playing most Warhammer games I could find on PC, I knew little of the actual lore outside of a lore video here and there, and a book or two about the Horus Heresy. Would love more games centered around the Sisters of Battle or Sisters of Silence, especially the latter. The little bit of lore I've consumed sounds interesting. And Sister of Battle where my favorite faction in Dawn of War Soulstorm.
@@kopicat2429 I think its worse since Sisters of Silence directly work with the Custodes and are generally ignored as a faction unto themselves. It would legitimately be interesting to flesh them out more, even have one as a protagonist maybe, hunting psykers or other stuff. I'm basically just a lore enjoyer of 40k, I have zero interest in the tabletop, but i like some of the videogames, ttrpgs, some books and that stuff. I knew about Custodians, I didn't know they used to be nearly naked (TTS taught me that). Sisters of Silence were something more recent of stuff i learned about when learning about Psykers for a ttrpg game. Sisters of battle get memed on a lot because they're usually always depicted as losing. I kind of see why, because at the end of the day, they are more or less just regular women with good armor and weapons. Sisters of Silence are almost space marine versions of SoB's They have better kit, inherent any chaos/psyker abilities and whatnot. The only thing the wokies have done involving them was make a trans SoB(no i'm not kidding) and it is as dumb as you think it is. I don't think they know SoS exist. So your '40k is space marines' idea is likely correct. The only reason there aren't femarines is because of the lore and it would kill their business, otherwise GW would have done it, Any argument in favor of femarines is killed by the biological requirements which are hard coded. Only arguments i've seen in favor is numbers(but women can produce more men, reducing your female population is generally quite stupid) and that they can just have cawl magic it up, even thought it took him thousands of years to tinker with space marines that were still men. A funny meta thing was once they added female custodes, they nerfed the faction, which was a little funny correlation.
Here lets do a ruburic test for people. The handmaids tale is now about a cast of subserviant men to oppressive women. and if people get mad just say "omfg why do you even care it's all pretend anyways." Or we can just look at anything else, they care enough to change it, then ask why fo you care
What annoys me so much about the "we need female Custodes!" argument is how every debate point offered has already been addressed for years: >Women are warriors too, we need them! The countless female Imperial Guardsmen regiments that have already been around for decades. >Wait, I mean we need more strong, deadly women! Callidus Assassins >No no, we need more strong, deadly women in POWER ARMOR! Sisters of Battle >No no no, we need more strong, deadly women in POWER ARMOR that are comparable to the Space Marines! Sisters of Silence, they're arguably more rare than Space Marines and were instrumental during the Heresy. >Fine, but we need more women at the top that wield real power. Political and leadership positions! Female Inquisitors and Rogue Traders.
Ikr?? The SOS are literally the only way a custode fight a daemon prince or any equally powerful warp entity with a fighting chance that could also keep up with them. Custodes don't do well with psykers. How tf can they ignore such an important detail
Why don't the bugs keep dropping meteors after the first one? Because humanity has the intelligence and capability to adapt. The first one hit because humanity had no idea they could do that or any way of stopping it. But once they saw it happen, they instantly started building a way to stop any future meteors.
Alternatively, the Bugs thought the first one was a ☠️shot and didn't expect the hive-mindless monkey-folk whose planet they just nuked to show up and kick their front door in a week later.

This guy's argument about not depicting civilian purges and warcrimes in a Triple A videogame goes right out the window if you include Fatshark's Darktide. It was insanely popular with Warhammer fans upon its release and literally depicts the purging of thousands of chaos corrupted civilians by teams of the inquisition's penal soldiers. If that's okay to depict and doesn't affect enjoyment and sales then surely an "accurate" depiction of Space Marines would have sold just as well. Or maybe at best this guy's experience with the setting is the tabletops rules and memes from Twitter and Space Marine two is accurate in its depiction of Marines as noble knights defending humanity from monsters.
The bizarre thing is that RFK Jr isn't even an anti-vaxxer, he and his entire family are vaccinated. “Fantasy needs to be grounded. It is not simply a license to do anything you like. Smaug and Toothless may both be dragons, but they should never be confused. Ignore canon, and the world you’ve created comes apart like tissue paper.” This idea that just because x thing exist therefore x other thing should be able to exist is fundamentally flawed, it can’t. Each setting has their own exclusive fundamental lore, concepts, characters extra of which once set in stone establishes that setting, once it’s established you can’t add or remove if you do you will undermine it. Take orks for example, both elder scrolls and warhammer have orks but what makes a warhammer ork? The fact that it’s sexless fungi, if you took that away it’ll cease to be a warhammer ork, if you add female custodes, space marines and primarchs for whatever reason it will no longer be warhammer. Because what warhammer fundamentally is, is what it was originally after it became established. Modern 40k isn’t 40k just like sigmar isn’t old world at least there’s a clear distinction between them though.
Just because God in real life is all powerful, doesn't mean the gods in the fantasy setting have to be or even should be. Just because high-caliber rounds would blow a hole in you in real life, doesn't mean they have to in the video game.
Just out the top of my Hat, we have... -Endless Space -Hearts of Iron -Stellaris -Crusader Kings Granted our Boy Adam most likely considers all of them to be "problematic", but still^^
I'll keep saying it: colonizer is a better slur than tourist. These people behave exactly as the fictional colonizer strawman in their heads behaves: it sees something interesting; travels to an already rich, vibrant and healthy community; then destroys that community to get some limited resources/experience from it before leaving, resulting in the community being worse off than before the colonizer's arrival.
I respectfully disagree. These people have no interest in coming into the hobby, and create something out of it, or have any long interest/ties to it. That is why "tourist" works better. As they arrive into something they have no affiliation or ties to, and have no understanding or concept of what the culture, history or memes of the hobby is, then somehow think they can try to change everything abou the hobby to better suit their own tastes. And after they have forced this change or failed to do so, they will move onto another hobby and try the same there.
@@juliantheapostate8295Yeah? Not so much for the colonized when British soldiers loots you for more spices to sell, and more relics for British museum.

Mass effect is a false metric to view player's tendencies as mass effect is very heavily biased in favour of paragon. The paragon option almost always leads to at least an equal if not better outcome to the renegade option leading to significantly more war assets in me3. The negative consequences of paragon options few as they may be never amount to more than a few lines of dialogue. Also because mass effect ties persuasion/intimidation to your paragon/renegade score if you go renegade you have to go renegade all the time even with your crewmates who you may quite like. Mass effects morality system is honestly awful.
Not to mention if your goal is getting the galaxy together to face certain annihilation by cosmic horrors, being diplomatic is usually the better choice. Doing a renegade playthrough is extremely fun, but in that universe, roleplaying as a pragmatic military man is the normal thing to do. Especially when the choices mostly are: -pragmatic positive -pragmatic neutral -jackass
I don't get him whining about 100,000 deaths. In the far future no less when humans occupy multiple planets likely numbering in the hundreds of billions. Especially when more than that is aborted annually right now. You don't even need a war context to make this a farcical talking point.

Player avatars are literal psychopaths going on the path of least resistance to get most of whatever doodad an economy of a virtual world operates on. There is even a notion of "players will optimize fun out of the game". They will also optimize ethics out.
Yeah, the specific case of Mass Effect has more to do with how the story directs you towards those choices, and the gameplay mechanics around Paragon/Renegade strongly encourage you to puck one side and stick to it for optimized results, so mixing it up is thus discouraged. It's obvious the writers intended Paragon as the canon story, and Renegade options were an after thought, so players who are there to enjoy a story will play along with the story by playing Paragon.
ah..yes, the good ol fascism, an empty word which means nothing, comes from the italian "fascio" which means league, union, association or even bundle, the historian fritz schotthöfer discribed it as "empty and meanigless" coz everywhere where ppl gather for a common cause can be called fascistic

Add living saints, legion of the damned, the fact that imperial tarot is fueled by Him, the fact that He guides the ships on the warp and burns the immaterium away and because of that he is the only reason that it was not burried as a whole by demons.
He doesn't know what the Ordo Sororitas is. His ONLY knowledge of 40K is the memes, if even that. He's proven to be a liar as his closing statement is "If 40K had black Space Marines and female Space Marines, then it wouldn't be bad." Well he obviously fucking lied about playing Space Marine 2 considering Chairon and Gadriel are not white, kinda hard to miss that fact considering even if you have the helmets on for gameplay the cutscenes will force them off. Furthermore, every class in Co-Op starts with the helmet off until you equip one. Half of the classes are black, I think Tactician is asian. Can't remember as I don't play anything that isn't Bulwark or Assult, and I threw helmets on as soon as possible. So he either outright lied and doesn't have the game at all, or he couldn't get past the prologue.

I'm a woman, I'm right leaning, I have lady space marines sprinkled among the men, not because "BUT MUH WAMEN NEED REPRESENTATION!!!" but because I thought it'd be neat and it's my army, my fluff and it doesn't effect anyone else... I'm here to have a little fun and I respect the lore otherwise, but also know that GW has broken it's own lore multiple times so a single chapter with a handful of ladies who made the cut isn't going to be complete heresy. Not to mention in the older lore during Rogue Trader days, there were "female marines" that got retconned to women in power armor. There was also a point in time that you could borrow a battalion from a different army to aid you in battle on the tabletop, Temporary allies, as it were. This also got retconned in later editions. But there are some who still use those rules because it adds fun and spice to the game. This guy is so surface level on EVERYTHING that he's not even broken the surface tension... He's also proving that no one is immune to propaganda. Good video, btw. I like the way you explained things and shared your insight on both Starship Troopers and 40k.
There was never a female space marine. It’s a proto sisters of battle mini. The base of those mini have the word “sister” inscribed. it’s not a retcon. Don’t get your news just from reddit.
So, in regards to Starship Troopers, is this another commenter who has no-none-zero familiarity with the material, source or otherwise? At least he hasn't bragged about not bothering to read/watch the thing before shitting himself about it.
The first chapter of Starship tropper is how the mobile infantry destroy a neutral alien city, in a show of force, because the federation think they MIGHT join the war on the side of the bugs. A real "fascistic" move, but that is totally absent from the movie. So you know that they have not read the book.

Adam is what happens when you spend your entire life online and have no idea how a military, a command structure and warfare works. CoD brain, Reddit education and hobby tourist collide.
I will say that "Starship Troopers" the novel was mainstream at one time, some used to argue that it was one of the most common sense depictions of the military ever written and it was referenced all the time. Almost everyone I know in the military back in the 1990s all the way up to the "War On Terror" had read it. That said this was at the time that the works of guys like Michael Moorcock were better known as well, a lot of the source material for D&D was common enough where a lot of people who might just be trying D&D were familiar with some of that kind of stuff first. That said I think there was a definite effort made with the writings of people like Heinlein, Asimov, and others who had gone mainstream to undermine their work as the left was picking up steam, hence movies like "I, Robot" and TV shows like "Foundation" that are outright the opposite of everything the original works said or stood for. "Starship Troopers" a movie made by a guy who had never read the book, and had the intent of mocking the idea, was perhaps a prototype for this... the most recent success on these levels was likely "V For Vendetta" which has a movie largely representing protest against how certain people viewed Bush-era politics, and convinced people Guy Fawkes was some kind of leftie folk hero. It's also entirely different from anything the source material attempted to say... for example "V" isn't a hero... he's the bloody Villain, he's an insane costumed psychopath amuck in a world with no super heroes to stop him. The guy is a loony toon who burns down England for fun, and the government isn't even actually bad as you find out he had hacked into their computer system and actually caused all the bad things they were accused of doing it, while the guy they made a flat out Hitler analogy in the movie, was actually trying desperately to stop him and save everyone.... you might guess that eventual reveal was a key plot point they somehow overlooked. At any rate I also wanted to say that Heinlein's work is weird in that it's very incestuous and like other shared universes has a key concept that ties it together... in this case The Lazarus Long stories. While a lot of his stuff like "Starship Troopers" stands alone, to get the full context and understand it properly you need to have read a lot of Heinlein's other stuff as well. A lot of his stories might seem to be giving a very offensive message, but are simply explaining, or paving the way for, something that happens or is resolved later. Long, but this should explain quite a bit, to be fair I think "Starship Troopers" is an example of why there needs to be laws against cultural vandalism, requiring a rights holder to do them properly, according to the source material. It's one of those things where the movie will effectively taint the perception of the book, and a powerful message in it both alone and in it's expanded universe, just by existing. Just because something is 'good' in of itself doesn't mean it should exist or be protected as much as short term thinkers dislike that point. I would hold it and things like "V For Vendetta" up as examples of exactly why there needs to be concerted effort made to protect culture from political changes and people buying the rights to past things and intentionally tainting them. Saying they should be able to do anything to a classic work as long as they have legal access to the rights, and some people find it entertaining, is a very bad attitude to have, and very short sighted. If you want to say something new, then create something new to say it. If nothing else that will force leftists to learn to actually be creative and entertaining.
@@ConsueloWubba It depends on what your dealing with. The problem is that when they regulate they do it in regards to the wrong things, or do it in a half arsed way there the granted exceptions and the ability to create precedents and such rapidly undermine the regulation and it's point. In the case of artistic works like specific stories, movies, etc... What I'm suggesting is no different than laws that exist to protect historical sites, works of art, and monuments, it's just applying the same guidelines to media due to it not currently having the same kinds of protections as physical works and sites due to the way it had been viewed, and we're just now seeing why that protection should exist. That said, if the regulations and laws are not created properly, you can see them undermined. Such as how when politics change people can declare previously protected sites offensive to the current political climate and remove the protection. That should not be happening, as things given that status were given it to begin with. The flip side of course is deciding what has this kind of protection, and when it occurs. Being able to protect something too easily can in fact have the opposite effect than intended by trivializing the protection when it's used stupidly. The difficulty of regulation does not mean it's the wrong tool, just that it needs to be done properly. The issue of course is that it's very rarely done properly. I actually see a window opening soon which rarely occurs, but is hardly unprecedented. That is to say having a largely rationality based government with the motivation to do something like this properly, coming into power with the ability to quash the kind of opposition that usually forces compromise on such things. When it's time ends there is unlikely to be a similar group in power that could muster the support to change or create anything similar for a very long time as our stagnation returns, so it's best to see this used as constructively as possible, and I think this is one of the things that will do far more good than harm in the long run, though nothing is ever going to be perfect. It might in fact kill a lot of media from being used due to the inability to modify it to represent the moment and make money to the extent many would like. That said even if that does happen it's not a bad thing as it then forces creativity on a greater level as people can't just decide that they can say redo an iconic franchise with current politics, they have to actually create new material based around those politics and have it be good enough to resonate. That in of itself is a good thing.
Arch I love you but there is political commentary in 40K. Literally every faction except the tyranids and the tau are examples of the failures of different flavors of progressivism.
The one that don't have any women?"
I myself had no idea Custodians even were a thing until after I saw the series "If the Emperor had a text-to-speak device" by Bruva Alfabusa a few years ago. Despite playing most Warhammer games I could find on PC, I knew little of the actual lore outside of a lore video here and there, and a book or two about the Horus Heresy.

The only reason there aren't femarines is because of the lore and it would kill their business, otherwise GW would have done it,
Any argument in favor of femarines is killed by the biological requirements which are hard coded.

It doesn't work, because in real life colonisation was mostly good for the natives
@@juliantheapostate8295in their own historically inept head canon that’s not the case

Not to mention in the older lore during Rogue Trader days, there were "female marines" that got retconned to women in power armor. There was also a point in time that you could borrow a battalion from a different army to aid you in battle on the tabletop, Temporary allies, as it were. This also got retconned in later editions. The first chapter of Starship tropper is how the mobile infantry destroy a neutral alien city, in a show of force, because the federation think they MIGHT join the war on the side of the bugs. 2:21:41 I just realized something if Nazi means bully and they are a bunch of cry bully's wouldn't that make them the Nazis😂
Regulation is never the solution.
@@ConsueloWubba If regulation was never the solution, then history's governmentless societies would still exist today.

On a side note, i am more into warhammer fantasy so I am probably mixing things myself as well
@iulian943 sure, he probably hasn't read the actual books, but he did read that preamble directly in the video and you made a comment mocking him as a fake fan while quoting that preamble... I'm just saying there's the entire rest of tge video to mock him being wrong/incorrect about things in and you pick the one time he's directly quoting source material to say he's gotten things wrong...
@@RipOffProductionsLLC Yeah I checked againa and you are right, I don't know why I forgot about that section. In my defense, ever since the 8th edition i didn't touch 40k books.
@@RipOffProductionsLLC tbf he only quoted 30 year old out dated information just because it went with his point. Fairly common among his crowd.
>Anon notices Space Marine 2 is popular
>makes a bait video
>everybody swallows it
>milions of views
>????
>profit
In all seriousness, imagine making such a cheap-trash video and getting free dollars by the drama alone.
The guy is a genius, assuming he was fully aware of it all.
Cause something tells me he was not genuine when he made this. I could be wrong, mayhaps.
Millions of views on other people's channels, people who hold opposing political views they hate...
Yes, this is a brilliant plan.
@@RipOffProductionsLLC now it's time for century old question
"does he trully hate them or is he just a grifter?"
I have no experience with his channel (for a reason, I don't want to generate him views) but when I see something this half-assed I come to a conclusion that he is just milking the algorithm
@wegielek3 what? I wasn't talking about that at all, I was taking about how he's not benefiting from the views Arch and Sargon get from their brakedowns of how bad his video is.
"The video is Bait to get views(and thus ad revenue) from angry people hes criticizing" seems like a pretty poor argument when 99% of haters aren't watching it on his channel but through reaction content like arch and sargon, who only provide him 1 view while they get thousands in exchange.
@@RipOffProductionsLLC this dude has over 300k views on his video. 10 times more than Arch's reaction
He a Tourist, never watch Starship Trooper or plays warhammer 40k
