My HRK made Eklipse is a definite push-type flipper. I use the jimping on the flipper to open it. It doesn't do the light-switch flipping action very well at all unless you give it a huge wrist flick.
I was pleasantly surprised after hanling the 0392 at your house. Great knife and the action was awesome. Definitely a great piece from Kai and Hinderer👍
Such a beauty of a knife. Thanks for this review. The flipper jimping is like it is (as you said) because it's staying true to the Eklipse design. I've owned several XM-18s (all flippers) and they have the flipper jimping there because they are designed to be "push" type or "pre-load" type flippers... not "light-switch" flippers (as you clearly demo'd). However, with the KVT on the 0392, the jimping really probably should have been moved/changed to accommodate "light-switch" flipping. But the ZT0560/0561 is the same way (ie, the jimping is set up for "push" type, when it's really a "light-switch" type flipper with its slick KVT system, etc... oh well). I'll no doubt try to land one of these when they finally make it to the US market... we'll see though... if I can't score one direct from a dealer I'm sure the secondary market price will scare me off of them. Again, thanks for the review. :)
With the discontinuance of the older larger folders, and the emergence of the 3.25 inch blades this year, it's not looking good. Even among the the ZT limited editions, the 0600 wasn't as popular as the rest due to the larger size.
That's a very interesting point that I hadn't considered. Even the 801CF and 801BRWCF were not quite representative of Rexford's actual work. Hopefully one of the future LE knives will address that.
I like that the blade is 204p instead of m390 is a plus in my opinion because of made in the U S A factor instead of Swedish steel. Thanks for another great video.
nice review man. I just dont know about this one. I have almost every other LE from KAI but this one just seems stale compared to past exclusives. maybe it is the midtech world but it seems like so many other type of knives out there. I just seem to want more.
Absolutely love it. I waited about 8 months for this knife to be released. The day of the sale I waited online to buy it but some how didn't check out quick enough. Just bought one on ebay for double the list price :\ but i don't really care lol I had to have this blade. The only problem is that I wanted to save it in unused mint condition but there is just no way that I wont be carrying this / flipping it constantly. Thanks for the great vid.
No problem thanks man and if u kno anyone that wants to trade I'll do a large seb insingo and a spyderco rubicon and if that doesn't do it I can throw in a spyderco dice if u hear of or kno anyone looking to get rid of on bw or original
Absolutely, they built the Shield for those who want an 0392, but it's outside their budget or comfort zone for a knife. KAI has been really good about offering cool designs along their entire price range. It might be an interesting video to compare the Shield to the 0392.... thoughts?
S Nguyen This knife was originally $375, but you won't find them for cheaper than $500 since they all sold out. I'll see if I can get my hands on the shield when it becomes available. The comparison would be a stretch since the knives are so different, but perhaps I can make time.
EpicSnuggleBunny true words indeed. At the end of the day though, there is no way I can spend 400 bucks on a knife. You are a part of the select few who can do stuff like that. I carry a $65 kershaw. It works I guess ugh.
I choke up and place the pad of my index finger on that gimping on the flipper tab when in use since it doesn’t have a finger choil. It works for me.

So bummed I missed out on today's sale of these. I will be hunting the secondary market it looks like...

Thanks for the review. I like the blue hardware. But I'm not sure whether to pay extra for the Hinderer name on it.
Well said Claus, I care nothing for the Hinderer name to be honest, my sole interest was in the ZT aspect of it.
i just love the design of the eklipse, one of the nicest designs i have ever seen
Such a beauty of a knife. Thanks for this review.

Is the blade grind similar to the 0560?
I was able to pick one of these up recently. How could you ever sell your first one lol
Thinking why did they not choose S110v to make it stand out more. Isn't it a more premium steel? Zt0801 with s110v is more rare than even m390 to see.
+jftman53
Likely comes down to availability, ease of machining, and their ability to heat treat and process with confidence.
the black wash edition looks more badasss. nice review. I missed out today on the sale release.
Man do I wish they start offering larger blades again, such as my 0600. I need another 3-3.75" folder like a hole in the head...

Nice review - thanks. It ran a little long, but I like the side by side with the Eclipse.
love that color set up my favorite
You have excellent taste
If only Kai/Zt could stay half as much to their Rexford designs as they do to their hinderer designs, they would really have something special.

Nice review man. So much WANT here...
Damn that's a nice Knife!

@7:18 I've had to update my phones fingerprints twice lately because of this very thing. That's funny.

This is one that you won't be afraid to use and carry. It begs for a beating.

Kudos for bitting the bullet on this one. It really is too good not to carry. Mine is in my pocket at this very moment! 👍
Hey man would u like do trade that knife I'll make it worth it lol figured I'd ask
KNIFEJUNKIE 13 Unfortunately I just couldn't part with this one. Best of luck!
No problem thanks man and if u kno anyone that wants to trade I'll do a large seb insingo and a spyderco rubicon and if that doesn't do it I can throw in a spyderco dice if u hear of or kno anyone looking to get rid of on bw or original
KNIFEJUNKIE 13 Heck of a deal, I'll let you know if I hear anything.
Thanks man and yea I have missed out on a lot of limited zt runs its my fav brand and the 0392 is prob my favorite as of late
+KNIFEJUNKIE 13 i might be able to hook you up with a brand new zt 0392.
Nice review. cool piece!
It looks like the Kershaw Shield.... The design and look is exactly the same for 65.99

Can you please do a review on the Kershaw shield..? A comparison would be a dream!
How much is this knife?

Wow that's too pricey.. my ideal edc would be the zero tolerance 0562 CF with the M390 steel. Price : $269.99 usd
That knife is butter
With a hint of dynamite!
good review and great blade :)
Thanks for the feedback!
First! Very nice, I shall be getting one.
You must be rich getting all of these knives! I'm not hating, just jealous lol.
Someday, if I work hard enough. For now it's just some go out as some come in.
