Im the same way, plus, I'm autistic and adhd. I've grown up alone and isolated cause no one in school wanted to be my friend. I was the 'weird' one, the 'freak'. And the only people that were my friends weren't actually my friends, they would mock me behind my back, and make fun of me. That only contributed towards my social anxiety and low self worth which I still face to this day as my 24th birthday is coming up soon. But this song and movie have always been my comfort when I needed it. It's shown me that I can make a stand, I don't have to apologize to anyone for being me, I can just be, well, me. I can be myself. And eventually, I'll find the people who WILL care about me, who WILL support me, and WILL love me for who I am. Until then I'll stand up for myself and be me.

My 8 year old son is autistic. He loves The Greatest Showman, and this is his favourite song. He sings it at the top of his lungs. It makes me weep when I hear him. It's like he knows people see him as different and he's telling the world that he doesn't care. I couldn't be more proud of him.

If you're wondering why she's just as much an important part of this song, it's because her relationship with the Phillip guy was looked down upon at the time because she was of African American descent and a part of the circus , and he was white, from a wealthy and very uptight family. if you saw the movie, he drifted away from her because its what his parents wanted, but this song is so cool because she's really telling him she doesn't care about the differences between them.

I’m 51, suffered bullying, been through depression, illness, people letting me down etc - but I am stronger because of it. I’m not ashamed to say that this song makes me cry every time, because 5 years ago I nearly ended it all. I’m still here, proving that NOTHING anyone can say to you can stop you living your life. X
I understand because same, it has gone so bad to the point of raping, I still shed a tear every time when I listen to this, but it also gave me courage to move on and be came to an acceptance, as now I’m out of my past shadows and living a strong life, really, don’t give up, the better days really ARE ahead, and everyone’s here for you when you need a shoulder, there really are good people out there

I've had autism my whole life and was really self conscious about "appearing normal." But on reflection, the way it shaped my life *I wouldn't trade for the world.* Isolating myself gave me a lot of time to think, and a lot more ability to decide for myself who I am than most dragged along by peer pressure can say. I don't need to be fixed, *I was never broken.*
I had autism since I was born, didn’t find out till late 2018 and I wasn’t really shocked Because I always knew I was different from the other kids, but I would really worry about it that much just enjoy your life buddy and have a nice day ;)

1:45 to 1:50 is the most inspiring scenes i've ever witnessed. The way they marched out, the angle of the camera and the job with the scenery is just magical. Gosh it's great.
I dont usually cry at a movie but this one made me get so emotionally involved that i cried tears of joy that these people were proud of who they are despite their differences and appearances and found myself with tears several times through out the movie. This is a Masterpiece.

He was a little fat, his teeth were a mess, and for being Irish. Such nonsenses made him cry on stage, but while he was shinning up there, the bullies were hidden in the middle of the crowd, as the cowards and losers they always are... His fellow partners supported him to death, an so the real directioners. But this kind of agression doesn't recognise age nor gender.

me too, man. i've been hurt badly, i've felt stupid and worthless and ugly. but getting out of that situation? hearing other people accepting themselves? it's really powerful. i'm in such a better place now. i'm not stupid. i'm not ugly. i'm not worthless. i'm not some beast or disease to be shunned. my interests and hobbies aren't ridiculous and childish. my sense of humor isn't boring or terrible. i'm worthy of being cared about. i'm worth respect. self confidence is amazing, man.

It's so weird seeing a movie take a risk and make their hero characters screw up, let them know they screwed up, and then have them about-face to correct it. Movies now never want to make the heroes wrong. It's why Anne's death glares during the number is one of the best parts of the entire film.

Im the same way, plus, I'm autistic and adhd. I've grown up alone and isolated cause no one in school wanted to be my friend. I was the 'weird' one, the 'freak'. And the only people that were my friends weren't actually my friends, they would mock me behind my back, and make fun of me. That only contributed towards my social anxiety and low self worth which I still face to this day as my 24th birthday is coming up soon. But this song and movie have always been my comfort when I needed it. It's shown me that I can make a stand, I don't have to apologize to anyone for being me, I can just be, well, me. I can be myself. And eventually, I'll find the people who WILL care about me, who WILL support me, and WILL love me for who I am. Until then I'll stand up for myself and be me.

But on reflection, the way it shaped my life *I wouldn't trade for the world.* Isolating myself gave me a lot of time to think, and a lot more ability to decide for myself who I am than most dragged along by peer pressure can say.

I dont usually cry at a movie but this one made me get so emotionally involved that i cried tears of joy that these people were proud of who they are despite their differences and appearances and found myself with tears several times through out the movie. This is a Masterpiece.

The fact that this film didn’t win a single Oscar proves that Hollywood is filled with bulls**t artists. Speaking as someone who hates musicals wholesale, I sing these songs so often that my wife’s told me she actually regrets watching it with me.
Yes they made a beautiful movie
Same musicals aren't my thing unless it's Bollywood but I watched and listened to every song and loved them and the movie as a whole.
Songs are amazing. But PT Barnum was a piece of shit. Wish this music could've been written into a movie about someone else or a movement.
Songs are really great, but the movie is bs. It makes PT Barnum something he wasn’t. He was a ruthless money and fame driven monster who couldn’t care less about people who are different. I mean why go with Barnum? They could have just used a fictional character. I mean the whole movie is anachronistic. Nothing fits the period. It’s pure fantasy. A fairy tale pretending to be a biopic
