I adore him. So humble and relatable. Need new artists like him here in the states. Our music scene is bad shape. This generation doesn't know what good music is
this shows theres still a massive underlying gap for the older white english to fill when they cant interview him seriously without taking an ironic standpoint and are constantly waiting to laugh at how different they are
Truest comment yet and to think it's 2017 we like to believe we've bridged all sorts of gaps in British society but there's still a massive divide partly probably because older white English just aren't bothered to mingle or relate..
Maybe the interviewers, or maybe it's other staff, but I suspect they'd run a profile on any interviewee, and they'd roughly know the answer to their scripted questions. i.e. They knew Stormzy's answer would draw the audience's attention, defying the stereotype that class clowns are usually academically poor.
They already know how he's gonna answer and the BBC know that he can inspire young black males that you don't have to be a badman at school or a drop out etc, they're using him as a role model.
The only thing that annoys me is how obvious they are making the difference between them and stormzy. If Ed sheeran was on there they wouldn't be saying about cred etc. Just accept you're both from different backgrounds but take him seriously and genuinely congratulate him. Not ask how you done interviewing him when you interview other people every day.
Captain R yea but he is also very mature and he was not the typical black boy all the time in school and just asking him about school was rude since it has nothing to do with the question, they were probably wondering if he was a dropout 😡
Did this man just ask him if he did GCSEs? Are they okay??? They were expecting to hear that he dropped out or got expelled and music was his only lifeline.
G its just propaganda have you seen how much the government is trying to promote apprenticeships at the moment they said "lets get stormzy to talk about his apprenticeship kids listen to him"
g i know its sounds stupid af and i dont wear tin hats or anything but come on its a little weird how they got him to speak about it when the government was trying to get people to take apprenticeships icing on the cake is look at the time the interview was its literally in the same sort of time yr 11s apply for college or apprenticeships
This is a good interview considering. It's evident that both sides come from completely different classes and backgrounds - they both understand that and are trying hard to fit in the time slot without offending one another. Plus stormzy is trying mad hard to not swear. They all understand it's uncomfortable for everyone - but you just get the job done. It's not that deep - stop making problems that don't exist.
I think it was an attempt to humanise him to their typical audience, they see a young black rapper and think aggressive thug. Having him talk about his success at school opens people up to giving him more of a consideration. Obviously the fact they had to do that shows there is still a big cultural divide, but at least they did do it.
Barry Connole its not offensive. she asked if they interviewed him well cos its obvs how white middle class they r & he said u did alryt snd she says "i think he just being polite" as to acknowledge the fact they did a crap job
People perceive things so differently. These interviewers are probably not young enough to aquire a taste for rapp. Let alone know the difference between Rapp and Grimm. Because they take Stormzy seriously they've listened to have a better understanding of the artist. Hes a educated artist, and was nervous about this particular performance only because he had not had alot of prep time. Nothing to do with putting him down or ridiculing. This man is a professional artist. I've heard this particular gig went off better than it had ever previously done. So kudos to the artist Stormzy! Thank you for the break down, in that generation.
Focus on the essential question asked to give a mugs guide to the difference between Rap and Grime. Well simply put ... Grime is a British Flava and Rap is an American Flava! Done.
Yeah I think the school comment was to help humanise him to.. joe blogs down the road who doesn't care about grime, I'm not so sure it was because he's a young road man G. Hard call
As a young black female I find this insulting that you question his education. Was he supposed to be a drop out? still a long way to go, but well done for trying at least
What's up with these questions about school 🤔 I am almost sure they really wanted to here him say he dropped out..., just talk about his achievements and move on
And then they wonder why I didn’t have faith in Romelu Lukaku when he sliced training to go McDonald’s then a show with this racist man Disrespectful hooligan😤
Why're they asking him how they did at the end? And then that woman says "be polite". As if Stormzy is gonna turn around and jack them or something. You can tell they never speak to black people or street people.
Two years ago. Still down earth. Such a great personality.
Man has made it!
my daughter introduced me to his album this week I been listening to it all week its great
Stormzy is so genuine he doesn't put on some road man act like some grime artists and he is acc very well spoken👍🏼❤️#merky
DestinToBe05 yes compared to other grime artists and people he got 6 A* in his GCSEs I'd like to see you get that
Are you SERIOUS? lollll LAME...
renee yes he took his.GCSE
@@Dogeman92 what did you get
Love how he always goes to say "mad" but forces himself to say "crazy" instead 😂😂

Norman Heist very tru
tbh I thought these hosts were a lot better than other interviewers but youre definitely right
Lucas Gore bet yours is
@@JohnSmith-nk9xq If you feel that way about grime what made you want to watch a video with a grime artist?
Why ask him about his time in school?! Did they think he was going to say he got expelled for drop kicking his teacher or some ish

cos its the breakfast show so like there viewers are parents and school children getting ready for school
@lewis eccles Excellent answer - spot on
these white ppl wanna embarrass him like that lol

Stormzy is not a stereotype, and he's a fully grown man not a boy.
The dizzee rascal one was more awkward still this is fine compared to that lol.
2:55 sounds like an interview for Tesco's
Did this man just ask him if he did GCSEs? Are they okay??? They were expecting to hear that he dropped out or got expelled and music was his only lifeline.
??
@@CalumRhysJones yeah but look at them, especially at the end, they were so nervous compared to when they interview other guests.
You are soo humbled . We love u ya mum raised u well. X a. Cardiff x
They clearly are clueless asking stupid questions like, "tell me about your time at school". *Shut up!* #merky
TQ they would ask anyone else that

Well given that he writes songs about being a thug and a bad man is it any surprise?
why they asking him about school???
1000th Sub!
What a nice Geezer
In this video Stormzys wearing Yeezy v2 350 Boost
He remembers his shoes this time
Did anyone else hear what Louise said at the end
what
Dee she said "he's just being polite" by saying they did good
That's fairly offensive tbh
Barry Connole its not offensive. she asked if they interviewed him well cos its obvs how white middle class they r & he said u did alryt snd she says "i think he just being polite" as to acknowledge the fact they did a crap job
I suppose. My first thought was that they were trying to say that he was trying to be polite as in most of his songs is explicit
I hate how they're trying to push him to talk about how he got excluded, really annoys me. That was in the past.

This was extra-awkward. The hostess was clutching her tummy like Stormz was going to rob her of her digestive tract.
I was hoping they would have spoken about his dad
i imagine a shit load of arsenal fans must love this guy

Urgh carol tell us about the weather.....GUNNA BE STORMZY

Wrong interview platform I think
These news presenters don't even understand half of what he is saying in his songs.
Gyal said street cred 😂

"yeee dis iz uhbit mahd fo mii" coz i iz fom da streetz wokin arownd wiv a JD sports bag in croyDEN yah get mi
Stormzy not as confident as he should be though.
Viral Links I agree! He's very humble
but to be fair its funny to see him humble and almost lost for words... in his songs all he talks about is how confident and cocky he is.
"Yeah im the best, im so cocky, i got a mob like asap rocky"
Woah Lukaku can rap ??!! ;)

Why were the two presenters acting so strange and nervous?
#mercy
Grime and rap is the same thing. Hip Hop music is rap and Grime music is rap. It's just a different genre of rap that is different to Hip Hop.
Oy, rudeboy! #shutup
Fax
yeah she meant hip hop. they're cousins in music
No they meant to ask the difference between Grime and Trap not rap coz they are different

He has blown up out of proportion. He's good but getting amazingly loads of exposure.
trying to blik man out
why the underground to main stream, obviously the record companies like to pigeon hole #pmsl xxx
Grime or rap
how you you at school? i did well...oh..
Why do they ask him about school, they think he's a drop out? They don't have enough street cred to relate
Why why is this guy everywhere
It's hurricane season innit?
groundbreaking.
Stormzy raw your to big for your boots
