I actually thought the HW had current when I initially installed it, but obviously got 0 values from the telem. I quite like YGE but the price would have been a step too far for a basher. Saving it for the TB40 👍😀
True it doesn’t have current but it does have battery voltage and RPM. YGE has really good ESC’s but on a fun flying 450 size heli and a stock Align motor unless I had one laying around or as my friends in the UK say “Not worth the extra Quid”. I found Richard’s channel a few months back and I really like the content and style! 👍👍👍
Great video Richard, I completely agree with having a good ESC for any helicopter, they really make a huge difference, my Gaui completely transformed when I upgraded the ESC
Excellent video. You are the r/c teacher ive never had 😅. When I was first starting out with some 3d i changed the talon 90 out to a 100amp hw esc on my 550x and it literally transformed it into a a whole new ship. Having a good performance esc is extremely important imo.
I just had my 35 amp align esc in my 450 pro cause my tail servo to fail and spin the heli in the air. After crashing the heli was smoking bad. Thought the lipo was going up but fortunately the smoke stopped. I found the esc absolutely fried. Im replacing it with this esc instead. Hopefully no more burning escs
After seeing you fly this Richard, I’m going to buy one in the morning! It seems to be the perfect little machine for me to push my flying forwards with and try new things with. The spares pricing is amazing too. My winter basher heli. Will report back what I think of it. Going to use the kit esc for now
Don't pay too much money for it. You should be able to pick them up really cheap, but it is an 8 year old design and the replacement TB40 is imminent, which may affect future spares. Also the tail ratio of 3.7 is terrible. You can use 74mm blades but it may not be enough depending on how you fly. Good fun if you find a bargain though.
That 50X ESC is not good. I swapped mine out for the Hobbywing 60A and what a huge difference. I run Futaba and with the telemetry adapter and the governor feature of the Hobbywing turns the 470 into a much better helicopter. I'm a Richard also, proof that great minds think alike!😉😂
@@rchelicopter did you use the gov of the hobbywing and all the steps of doing the calibration of the gov at mid stick for 30 seconds and no load or 0 degrees pitch? what cable is used for telemetry does it work in the old vbar control radio?
@@RotoRCol Yes, used the HW gov, and did all the motor rev, calibration, HS setup, etc. off camera. The lead I used is an official HW/VBar item. It should work fine with classic VControl. www.hely-shop.co.uk/hobbywing-vbar-connection-wire-for-platinum-50cm-hw30810001/
@@RotoRCol Yes, select STO GOV, (if you use ELF GOV, you will need to do the calibrate for each flight) rig a throttle curve so it will hold 50%. Plug into the ESC and run the motor for 15+ seconds. Unplug the ESC and program the pitch curves as flat lines for idle up 1 & 2. For hover I use a flat pitch but with a linear from 0-25 then flat after that. I use the IRCHA helicopter throttle curve calculator to get the percentages to start but it's very close right off the bat. I'm not sure how the V Bar telemetry works but there is a firmware update that specifies V bar, if you run Futaba, use the firmware that does not have the V in hex update file, ask me how I know.
@@rchelicopter Only thing is the STO GOV setting...It's a Hobbywing secret...Obviously. I think they think we should already know, which us lucky ones learned from the higher amp HW ESC's and this platform. 🤣
Hey Daniel. I haven't flown the 470 in a while so I can't tell you without doing some digging. It's the stock motor and gear ratio, so it should say on the Align site or in the sales specifications.
YGE 65LVT for the win but yes...expensive...though worth it for current sensing!

its only the 80A and above that give you current in HW's lineup..

Really good video , love the personal interaction ! good work !
Thanks so much. It's a bit over the top in places, but it makes me laugh 😂
@@rchelicopter it's brilliant!
Holy crud! Very interesting video and amazingly put together, I do really like the pacing in this one.
Thanks. It took a bit more effort to make than the tutorials, but I quite like it, in a vaguely humorous way.

Thanks. I had the same heli, and that Talon used to blow up every time I tried something that the pros could do 😕

Thank you for your review.
However I confused about size of Banana Plug.
It is 3.0 or 3.5 mm? 😊
I don't have this model anymore, so can't tell you, sorry!
Great Job bro 👏 👍 👌 💪 🙌

If you do get one, go for the belt, not the torque tube.

This is awesome. I am looking for this for my 450L. And my two Goosky helicopters.
Also how much did you pay for the 470L on eBay?
It was just over 100 USD. He said it was flyable, but I ended up replacing most of the shafts. Very cheap to do though.
