The story in the "Lit" MV, Lay said, is based on his favorite Chinese historical figure. In the MV he is portraying a Chinese general who has been trapped by the Han soldiers while trying to rescue his wife. The general is a real historical figure named Xiang Yu, who fought in the battle of Gaixia. In the beginning of the MV you hear a Peking opera singer performing “The Song of Gaixia” which is a song that Xiang Yu composed for his wife, Lady Yu, who eventually took her own life. (Fun fact: In Lay's song "Jade" which is a song also on this album, the story is supposed to be about Lady Yu and Xiang Yu's love story.) Everything about this song and MV is a poetic, cinematic masterpiece. For example, the word Lotus in Chinese sounds a little like Lit in English. (Another play on words, just like the Chinese pronunciation of Jade sounds like Yu or you in English, which Lay cleverly used in his song "Jade." Get it? Jade = Yu and Jade = you.) Lay used lotus (Lit) as a metaphor for no matter how hard people try to bring him down, he will stand strong and survive through anything the world throws at him, like a lotus flower. The Lotus often represents purity. The Lotus is special because it grows in the mud, but out of the most dirty and unforgiving conditions, blooms one of the most beautiful flowers. The Lotus is a famous symbol in Chinese culture and it often represents how something good and pure can grow and triumph despite what you would think are unforgiving conditions. Lay has said that the idea for "Lit" comes from the fact that his haters have been calling him "White Lotus," which refers to someone who acts innocent, and uses it for his gain and plays the victim all the time. So when he wrote the song he took that negativity and embraced it and turned it into something positive. So, in other words, he is saying: "You thought you could bring me down, but you are wrong. I am not a fake white lotus, but I am a true lotus who is LIT. I am more powerful then you know and I will rise above all your negativity and show you how I grow even stronger and more beautiful no matter how much mud and dirt I have to go through," etc. The dragon is a very powerful symbol in Chinese culture and it is even said that if you are Chinese you are a descendant of the dragon. Chinese dragons traditionally symbolize vitality, strength and good luck. In one interview I read, Lay also talked about how he has two dragons inside him -- a good dragon and a bad dragon. He said he always chooses to listen to the good dragon. The good dragon is the one who is protecting him and helping him through all his hardships and difficult times. So the main theme of "Lit" is about fighting his inner self and learning to ignore and overcome the people who are trying to knock him down. Lay is is a singer, rapper, songwriter, composer, producer actor, director, editor, dancer, designer, etc. -- genius -- and with every new release of his, he just one ups himself. And "Lit" is a prime example of that.
If you really study the credits. you will see that this MV was produced by Zhangyixing Studios, which is named after Lay -- he owns the studio. (Lay is a stage name given to him by SM Entertainment as a member of EXO, his real name is Zhang Yixing.) So, If you read the credits, you will see that Lay has his hand in almost every aspect of this production. He is the one that wrote and composed the song and he even produced the beat himself. He is his own beat-maker.He is also executive producer, he helped choreograph and he helped direct the MV, etc. But that's normal for Lay's solo work With Lay, when you ask who did it?-- for any part of the song, MV or choreography -- you are pretty much guaranteed that the answer is: Lay. Lotus flowers (莲花/ lián huā) are important in Chinese culture, and they represent purity and righteousness. This is because the lotus grows into a beautiful, pure flower, all while sprouting in the mud- so it can represent silent strength in the face of adversity, purity, truth, and the idea that no matter what others see or think, all that matters is that YOU know that you are upright and just (I.e. in the face of slander, gossip, or rumors, you can still stand tall and proud because you know you have done nothing wrong). So I think he's saying that not only is he always standing tall with no fear, but that even when we worry, he still has silent strength. Just looking at the MV, it seems like a song where he's just saying he's 'Lit' , but there's also a deeper message behind it, and it not only makes it a lot more meaningful, but also shows us how much thought he put into it and how he tries to be sincere and genuine with us.

I’ve been waiting for his new album which is the first version to came out, teasers along with concept photos. It’s finally here OMG someone pinch me? I’m sadly rusty on chinese history, its like a movie soundtrack trailer. The story in the "Lit" MV, Lay said, is based on his favorite Chinese historical figure. In the MV he is portraying a Chinese general who has been trapped by the Han soldiers while trying to rescue his wife. The general is a real historical figure named Xiang Yu, who fought in the battle of Gaixia. In the beginning of the MV you hear a Peking opera singer performing “The Song of Gaixia” which is a song that Xiang Yu composed for his wife, Lady Yu, who eventually took her own life. (Fun fact: In Lay's song "Jade" which is a song also on this album, the story is supposed to be about Lady Yu and Xiang Yu's love story.)
Everything about this song and MV is a poetic, cinematic masterpiece. For example, the word Lotus in Chinese sounds a little like Lit in English. (Another play on words, just like the Chinese pronunciation of Jade sounds like Yu or you in English, which Lay cleverly used in his song "Jade." Get it? Jade = Yu and Jade = you.) Lay used lotus (Lit) as a metaphor for no matter how hard people try to bring him down, he will stand strong and survive through anything the world throws at him, like a lotus flower. The Lotus often represents purity. The Lotus is special because it grows in the mud, but out of the most dirty and unforgiving conditions, blooms one of the most beautiful flowers. The Lotus is a famous symbol in Chinese culture and it often represents how something good and pure can grow and triumph despite what you would think are unforgiving conditions.
Lay has said that the idea for "Lit" comes from the fact that his haters have been calling him "White Lotus," which refers to someone who acts innocent, and uses it for his gain and plays the victim all the time. So when he wrote the song he took that negativity and embraced it and turned it into something positive. So, in other words, he is saying: "You thought you could bring me down, but you are wrong. I am not a fake white lotus, but I am a true lotus who is LIT. I am more powerful then you know and I will rise above all your negativity and show you how I grow even stronger and more beautiful no matter how much mud and dirt I have to go through," etc.
The dragon is a very powerful symbol in Chinese culture and it is even said that if you are Chinese you are a descendant of the dragon. Chinese dragons traditionally symbolize vitality, strength and good luck. In one interview I read, Lay also talked about how he has two dragons inside him -- a good dragon and a bad dragon. He said he always chooses to listen to the good dragon. The good dragon is the one who is protecting him and helping him through all his hardships and difficult times. So the main theme of "Lit" is about fighting his inner self and learning to ignore and overcome the people who are trying to knock him down.
Lay is is a singer, rapper, songwriter, composer, producer actor, director, editor, dancer, designer, etc. -- genius -- and with every new release of his, he just one ups himself. And "Lit" is a prime example of that.
If you really study the credits. you will see that this MV was produced by Zhangyixing Studios, which is named after Lay -- he owns the studio. (Lay is a stage name given to him by SM Entertainment as a member of EXO, his real name is Zhang Yixing.) So, If you read the credits, you will see that Lay has his hand in almost every aspect of this production. He is the one that wrote and composed the song and he even produced the beat himself. He is his own beat-maker.He is also executive producer, he helped choreograph and he helped direct the MV, etc. But that's normal for Lay's solo work With Lay, when you ask who did it?-- for any part of the song, MV or choreography -- you are pretty much guaranteed that the answer is: Lay. He does it all. He is such a perfectionist that there is almost nothing that he is involved in that he doesn't have 100% control of himself. He prides himself in the fact that all aspects of his music are created by him.

I’ve been waiting for his new album which is the first version to came out, teasers along with concept photos. It’s finally here OMG someone pinch me? I’m sadly rusty on chinese history, its like a movie soundtrack trailer. There’s so much but I don’t know where to start since I still can’t get over how darn hardcore LIT our boy is being with a DRAGON, LYRICS and KILLER VISUALS 👀🔥while trying to expand China to the world through music even though local anti fans, critics and anyone else don’t want that to happen 🙄 So in MV Lay (Lotus) is fighting against them (JADE). PART 1 OF 2 THIS IS THE GROUP HE IS PART OF ...
EXO is a South Korean-Chinese Kpop / Cpop group with 9 members, initially had 12 members separated as two subgroups EXO-K & EXO-M. They formed in 2011 debuting on April 8, 2012 under SM Entertainment. Their music is a unique combination of music genres performed in Korean, Chinese/Mandarin, and Japanese. In 2014 last time EXO was separated as subgroups to release music, they’ve been active as one group since then performing in multiple languages. EXO remained with 9 members after the departures of Kris(main rapper), Tao, & LuHan after legal issues arose between them & S.M company during 2014 and 2015. In 2016 three of the nine members have a sub unit EXO-CBX while still being part of EXO, which incorporates their stage name initials for Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin. All of the members have their own solo career projects in music, tv and film. *My boys are KAI, Baekhyun, Lay and Sehun but I love and support the whole group*
Their group concept is they’re aliens from EXOplanet [Alternate Universe] sent to protect the Tree of Life (Pleaser react to their debut MV “MAMA”). They all have superpowers, the MVs are interconnected not in proper order; so fans have to figure out where each MV falls into the storyline and find the meaning. “Love Shot” is latest single of their repackaged album. The guns filled with alcohol, it’s a play on taking shots(drinking) but also a play on sniper’s shot to the head(nicknamed “Love Shot”), the dancing mimickes both meanings. In the storyline they’re seen battling against “the red force” (evildoers trying to attack & captor them & tree of life). You see a battle happening in the Music Video! *KEEP IN MIND ALLOT OF THEIR MVs ARENT SUBBED SO YOU’LL HAVE TO LOOK UP THE LYRICS & MEANINGS. SM COMPANY ONLY RECENTLY STARTED ADDING SUBS TO THEIR MUSIC VIDEOS AND EXO MVs DON’T REFLECT THE MUSIC SINCE THEY HAVE A STORYLINE SO DONT LOOK AT THE MVs FOR THE MEANING.
First subgroup EXO-K, leader Suho became the 1st member(trainee) of SM Entertainment in 2006; the following year 2nd member Kai by his father’s encouragement auditioned and got accepted; same time Chanyeol won 2nd place in Smart Model Contest and Sehun had to go through four auditions for 2 years before getting accepted. The subgroup’s last two members(trainees) to go into EXO-K during 2010/2011 were D.O and Baekhyun. Every XO-M subgroup leader Kris went through Canada’s Global Auditioning around the same time Lay went for an audition at Changsha; both subsequently moved to South Korea, while Xiumin goes with a friend to audition winning 2nd place he became the next member(not including the friend) to join EXO-M in 2008. Within two years LuHan and Tao were scouted into SM by one of the company representatives in Myeong-dong and during a talent show, the last member to join the subgroup EXO-M was Chen in 2011. In December 2011 they’d finalized their group name to EXO; which is short for “EXOplanet”. Their first tv performance was at SBS’s Annual Gayo Daejun Event on Dec 29th. They’ve won many awards and nominations for their variety of creative music genres, solo projects, show appearances and performances.
IGNORE EVERYTHING NEGATIVE ABOUT CHEN BECAUSE NONE OF IT IS TRUE, ITS ALL CHILDISH ANTIs (HATERS/fans of other groups) who have nothing better to do with their time then to do everything they can to defame celebrities like CHEN who just want to be honest human beings and straightforward with fans but local asian fandoms don’t like that at all. EXO has yet to have their first US tour which SM keeps refusing to give them one the eight years they’ve been together as a group even but majority of all other SM Artists have had a US Tour or have gone to the US for concerts, the members themselves have gone to US individually for solo albums/performances but now that Baekhyun & Kai are part of new collaboration group called SuperM with SHINee Taemin, NCT/WayV Taeyong & Mark; Lucas & TEN that’s the closest EXO gets to having a US Tour as a semi group.

The title track “Overdose” of their third extended play album ‘Overdose’ is a catchy and popular song that EXO-K along with EXO-M (all 12 members are present) brings a hip-hop R&B based urban dance tempo made by collaboration of a world renowned producing team ‘The Underdogs’ who worked along with Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Chris Brown and Kenzie who wrote number of hit tracks. The amazing catchy lyrics describes a man’s fatal & powerfully addictive love as if overdosing on sweet drugs in a realistic sensuous manner while stuck in a Maze. Its expected to attract music addicts with addition of EXO’s unique visuals and performance. Its also was the last song and music video before members Kris Wu and LuHan left the group and company then later down the road Tao decided it was best for him to leave but it wasn’t because of the members, it was of the mistreatment on top of other things just because they were Chinese (South Korean & China dont get along at all). LAY had gone to China to start his solo projects since then, he been absent for a long awhile but never left the group. Zhang Yixing (LAY) only chinese member left of EXO had returned with his first solo album releasing two MVs “Give Me A Chance” which was on his bday and a week after dropped “Namanana”. As of right now he’s still currently promoting his solo projects and he also had finally made it to the 2019 Grammys along with BTS & GOT7 Jackson Wang! LAY has a chinese drama called “The Golden Eyes” which you can watch with in VIKI TV app with free standard membership.* Lay has been traveling back & forth to China and he’s been there for 3 years having to promote EXO on top of his own projects which has caused issues between EXOLs since China literally has kept him on his toes non-stop doing China related events along with promoting solo projects and it has made many EXOLs stop considering him part of EXO. Lay has a latest track with “Grandma” MV.
Kai has a few dramas and movies that he’s done overtime & some artist collaborations along with Baekhyun who also has some artist collaborations of his own. Kyungsoo (D.O) has a few films and dramas that he’s starred in. Chanyeol had starred in drama called “Missing Nine” and has some solo songs where he sings & raps. Suho with Baekhyun had dominated fashion world when they attended Privé Alliance Event. Xiumin enlisted April 2019 and month later D.O decided its best to enlist early so he enlisted June 2019. Suho will be enlisting toward the end of the year. On other hand it’s reported that Chen, one of main vocalists is the first korean member of EXO to make a solo debut but he’s not the first EXO member overall to go solo. They are still a group; the members themselves are preparing for the next step in their career, so when the older members have to enlist for at least 1 1/2 years then return they have something to fall back on until the rest of the members return from military. On the other hand, Kris had earned a role in the third installment XXX: Return of Xander Cage movie with Vin Diesel along with other roles before that and Luhan has also been in some chinese movies and dramas. Tao has a recent new comeback called “AI”, the MV and song very interesting (I unfortunately haven’t heard much about Kris, Luhan, and Tao)! I’ve seen some clips and the trailer of a new Chinese movie that LuHan is going to be starring in called “Shanghai Fortress” which probably came out already.
Since there’s not much of EXO-M, Chen & Xiumin were added to EXO-K until LAY can someday return from his solo projects; he NEVER left the group nor has any plans to leave either!

Lay has stated in many interviews that is he’s still part of EXO and doesn’t have plan on leaving the group, he’ll always be there for his brothers when he can be when they need him and also he’s said that “Namanana” (which is his first solo title album) he made the word up that was inspired by the lion king song “Hakuna Matata”, his role is a traveling postman. He filmed in Western Australia and that one scene is called Pink Lake (yes it’s a real lake) and another scene I believe it shows that he gains his healing [unicorn] superpower back from his power orb after opening the package which indicts he’s still with EXO. His another comeback album & title track “Honey” which is speechless.
