    Some other relevant ideas especially for peaking is the further from the corner you are peaking around, the longer it takes to appear on enemies screen. Very big tip for winning 1v1 or even peaking a squad. Ie never try to peak around next to a corner, if possible be far back as you can. This is huge in games like cs eft but any fps helps.
    Also as you mentioned ping / netcode peak advantage is very significant, compounded by the reaction time of someone statically holding an angle.
    Nice video

      Basically imagine a guy rounding a corner. From your perspective the wall separates you from this guy so you can’t see him until he rounds the corner. If he is so close to the corner that his uniform is brushing against it as he rounds it, the relative size of his body to the corner will give you more time to see part of him faster. You may see his gun barrel, then maybe his elbow, his shoulder, the side of his head, then his full body, most likely in that order. However if he’s 50 yards behind the corner (exaggeration to make a point) his entire body will appear much smaller by comparison. Thus the amount of time you have to distinguish between his gun barrel and his entire body becomes more instantaneous. The whole point of not peeking a corner or a window directly on said cover, is to to give your enemy as little time to react to you when you’re visible AND once you’re visible to minimize your visible surface area as much as possible.

    Cover can be used offensively to help get kills, not just defensively to stay alive. 01:22
    The effective time to kill in a gunfight is determined by your gun's time to kill, reaction time, aim, and recoil control. 02:08
    The enemy's time to kill also affects the outcome of a gunfight. 03:21
    Being closer to the enemy reduces recoil and increases the time to kill, and also can make it harder to hit if you're running about. 05:04
    Using the right attachments on the right gun also reduces recoil and time to kill. 5:28
    The best players use tricks to make their reaction time faster. 07:16
    Reaction time can be reduced such as pretending to countdown in anticipation of an enemy. 07:52
    Swinging or peeking gives the advantage to the player initiating the action via Peeker's advantage. 08:44
    The reaction time advantage can lead to a significant reduction in time to kill opponents. 09:09
    Using cover and quick swings can help gather information about enemy positions. 09:49
    Running from cover to cover and spotting enemies before reaching cover can be advantageous.10:37
    Ping delay can affect gameplay; a delay added to reaction time can give peeker's advantage. 11:21
    Abusing the advantage of swinging corners can lead to more duels won. 12:18
    Passive aim/Pre-aim is important in reducing mechanical aim requirements such as flicking. 14:30
    Repositioning disrupts enemy's passive aim and forces them to use mechanical aim. 14:57
    Buildings provide multiple swing options, making enemy passive aim worse. 15:43
    Repositioning throws off enemy pre-aim and requires them to react and aim again. 16:29
    Appearing from unexpected spots increases enemy reaction time and aim difficulty. 17:07
    Understanding concepts like repositioning, peeking, and using a cover can improve gameplay. 18:32
    Importance of recognizing and feeling the advantages of playing well in the game. 19:09

    This is unironically one of the best educational videos I've ever seen for FPS gameplay.
    First of all, the "teacher" type explanations. I have the same issue when watching higher-skilled players and their explanations, which is not fully understanding why a tip is needed. A standard explanation video would be like "have good aim", "have good reflexes", or "have good positioning". They're telling us what to do... but I have no idea what the stuff they're telling us to do even is. This is where the fallacies kick in.
    *"Have good aim".* _Okay, so flick really well and track players like a literal aimbot, got it!_
    That's sorta correct, but like you taught me in this video, there's an entire other side to aiming that the skilled player is talking about that I have no idea even exists, which is your term, Passive Aiming. Most players think they have to just turn a corner and flick like a monster to the opponent, but that's not the answer. It's useful, but doesn't guarantee a win, much less actually be possible to do.
    The goal is to aim, *passively,* which means prepare yourself for where you need to aim. That's the goal, and where mechanical aim kicks in is when you make a prediction and the enemy isn't there, so you have to react and flick to their actual position. I literally didn't know that was a concept, and this completely revolutionizes the way I think about firefights and FPS' in general.
    This knowledge is gonna make me have so much fun cause now I know what to do. No more running around, praying to God I flick fast enough, and raging when the opponent seemingly aimbots me. Now, I prepare myself for an engagement, think about the tactics I've been taught, then feel the satisfaction when things go as planned. Even better, being able to win even when stuff doesn't go as planned. This is amazing bro, so useful.
    I would go further, but I'm tired and kinda don't wanna write a lot. Amazing breakdowns which taught me a lot in simply 19 minutes, subscribed for that alone.

    The only thing I would say is that ADS, at least for me, is a massive part of the TTK equation. It's what makes smgs even more powerful than they already are, and why it's so important to pre-aim as support.
    Usually I'm always trying to pre-aim, because the ADS time can sometimes match the mechanical ttk of guns.

    Hit the nail on the head with how content creators are too caught up in theoretical ttk’s, it’s been a trend I’ve noticed in a lot of fps games over the years but I rarely see it translate into a gun actually inherently being superior in all situations. A lot of it feels like they’re cherry picking the craziest conditions for the fastest ttk just to make guns sound that much better when in reality no gunfights are really happening at point blank range with no bullet travel time and all hits landing directly on target with no latency

  • @AeciusthePhilosopher
    @AeciusthePhilosopher ปีที่แล้ว +6

    So TL;DW:
    - The winner of a firefight is the one that kills the other guy faster.
    - Theoretical ttk is only a part of the equation - any missed bullet doesn't do damage: So being accurate and controlling your recoil are important
    - Closer target = Bigger Target = Less chance of recoil messing you up
    - Lining your shots up to an expected target as you come out of cover cuts down your reaction time; making you react fast - since you've aimed before you even show up
    - A quick peek around cover without slowing down lets your get an idea of where the enemies are, so you can set up the your aim as per above point: It's like a game of memory, but the prize for winning is not getting shot!
    - Murder memory can be played as you move from cover to cover.
    - The internet isn't instant: Your ping adds to your peeker's advantage (Addendum by me: and also to theirs - higher ping favours the aggressor)
    - There are two types of aim: 1) Mechanical where you move your crosshairs to hit the target and 2) Passive aim where you position your crosshairs so they line up with where your target is likely going to be - this means you won't have to move as much before you can remotely lobotomize your enemy.
    - Repositioning means the enemy can't acquire as much passive aim on you.

    a lot of what you say about cover is simply because there is no wallbanging in the game, in other games where there is wallbang its alot simpler to kill people, but of course some of the things still matter like swinging, but with wallbanging there's still a chance that they see you and start shooting at you through the wall

    • @tonomrwong
      @tonomrwong  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hmm recoil. I am old school gamer and i always played fast paced arena shooters where recoil doesnt exist. I was never into CS not event during 1.6 time.
    BattleBit is a 1st game of its kind a realy tried to stay with. What made a huuuuge difference for me was a setting of my mouse but not on lower sensitivity but MUCH HIGHER. I was used to play on pretty low sensitivities with giant mouse pad surfing all over the table and it usualy worked for me.
    Here i tried to put my mouse on 3200 DPI and in game ADS on like 15-20 (so big sensitivity on hardware relatively small in game) and sudenly i was able to kept that AK15 on target for a whole magazine without problems.

    Such a good video for newer FPS players. I do all this and i barely contemplate or think about that i do it or if i’m doing it correctly. The peaking and re-peaking is so essential in a game like Battlebit. It sure is strong. Peeker’s advantage. I do find though that re peeking and walking out of cover while shooting to suprise/throw off enemies aim doesn’t seem to work that well. Why is this the case in this game? Any thoughts

    • @tonomrwong
      @tonomrwong  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well honestly it not working sometime is probably due to complexities that I haven't even thought of! But some situations I might die even when reswinging may be due to multiple enemies making their time to kill faster, maybe your first shot may miss with a slow fire rate gun, meaning you lose time waiting for the next shot to cycle? This game is so deep and every death is complex. Sorry I couldn't give a concrete answer 😊

    Where does prefiring fit into this? Whenever an opponent knows where I am and we are both trying to peek each other, I know I'll lose relying on my reaction time/aim alone. Instead I just eliminate reaction time by preemptively firing as I round the corner or as my line of sight passes the only areas they could be. It wastes more ammo than one would without needing it, but my reaction time is bad enough that its better to be wasteful for a gimmick kill than to just concede my life to another Vector.

      @@unh0lys0da16 I know, but there is always a doubt about if someone I encounter is friend or foe, or if I hear footsteps behind me I need to check if it's an enemy or a teammate that spawn on me. Also, the status of my team, if they are alive or dead, where are they facing, should I keep rushing or hide in cover?
      Minimap allows to digest that information passively in a glimpse without losing focus.

      Sounds like me until level ~60. You will definitely get used to it. I'm a slow learner and I got so clobbered it reminded me of getting SCHOOLED as a kid in Counterstrike 1.3. I wanted a minimap too but the devs are against it. Now I've become quite good with the blue dots. Put minimap on TAB and disable toggle, that goes a long way. This, combined with headphones gives me the same kind of awareness I've been used to having in other games. Eventually you will get used to the player models too. My improvement going from level 60-80 was huge. I seriously went from 0.7 KD and sucking hard, to going 1:1 in my worst games and 2:1 or 3:1 in the better ones.

    I love battlebit, but i struggle to find the good flanking routes. it seems i find alwalys the 2-3 flanking enemys, get one kill and die.
    So, my request for a video is : successful flanking and mindgames.

    • @tonomrwong
      @tonomrwong  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah I'm going to make more in-depth videos like this about other subjects, I definitely will talk about how to find flanks, but also how to not die if stuff is getting out of hand

      Just use vector or ak15 and practice aiming. Try lower mouse sensitivity. Need to be able to trust you can flick to where you want to shoot. Also for mind games if you run around with c4 in your hands you look way less threatening than if you have a gun. This consistently makes a difference for me but still limited time before an enemy catches on.

    Dear Mr Wong,
    even after playing FPS games since back in the day (think Goldeneye64), you have explained in depth some unconscious thoughts/processes that go into gunfights. Concepts that I don't think i've ever really put words to, so thanks for that. Not only is this content valuable, but also quite interesting.
    This could be a start to a series of YT FPS instructional videos. Possibly of your own ideas / common situations you come up against, or input from subscribers where you expand on their questions/queries?
    If you can commit to that, i shall commit to supporting your clips via Haiku.
    - Want to win more fights?
    - Watch Mr Wong's tips right here.
    - Saves us from ourselves...

    Dude. Still i can't believe that you got 500 kills for almost all weapons, it's is freaking cool :D but i see right now how you got all of that. You really studied the hell out of FPS, good job 👍
    I really like your style of.......explaining ? i am really tired of content creators that make videos all the same. Like how they sound simillar and strucuture their video. I like your style more.
    By the way, i didn't hear any sneezes in this video >:(

    Thanks bro, even though I like FPS games I usually play PVE, I always thought I was really bad at PVP games, but now, maybe I can beat some dudes and stop being the weakest Brazilian male, but for now i give you my blessing: the blessing of the Weakest Brazilian Male (That would be me), the blessing alows you to gain a considerable advantage against the bottom 50 on the ranking for the Anual Brazilian Male Championship. The championship is secret and only the true Brazilians can participate, you wont find any of that on google, but you can belive in me

    What are your keybinds? Do you stick close to default or have any tips on what to change? I have trouble using lean with the default settings

      Pretty much all default, only changes are squad leader menu(build) on a side mouse button and vault on a side mouse button, I also have drag players on toggle and fast reload on double tap R

    What's the circle thing that occasionally appear when you ads with scope?

    My K/D is just above 1, so maybe getting the pre-peeking down will help a bit. (not very focused on that number, but more kills = more fun)
    Question about peeking: if the enemy was facing that corner, won't they see that you did a "quick peek" and zero in on your corner, thus eliminating your advantage?
    I tried flanking more over the weekend, but still struggling to even get into position without being discovered.
    Getting the first few kills with a sniper to unlock medium scopes is also a pain, since you're so visible with the long range scope glint lol.
    No use flanking if you're shining a giant light around the map for everyone to see.

    • @tonomrwong
      @tonomrwong  ปีที่แล้ว

      The advantage I described in the video already assumes they are preparing to react to you peaking, and I will be doing a video that covers flanking in the future. I agree aswell that it's a pain to unlock medium scopes, always takes me a while

      Yeah true dat with the clickbait stuff, I personally have to weigh up just how clickbaitey I wanna get. Thanks for the advice either way 😊
