There were quite a few great albums that came out that year such as David Bowie's Blackstar, Radiohead's A Moon Shaped Pool, Beyonce's Lemonade and Nick Cave's Skeleton Tree though so actually wasn't all bad. Quite a few of the tracks listed in this video actually were released in 2015 such as the Adele and Justin Bieber singles, and I remember in Britain both of those two had singles that were on the radio a lot. I do like Adele quite a bit though and that year she did a brilliant set at Glastonbury

"Closer" always felt more prevalent than "Don't Let Me Down," even at the time. one thing I like about Adele is that her music always feels like it's existed far longer than it actually has. "Hello" does not feel like it came out between 6 and 7 years ago, but it's also implacable. could've dropped yesterday, could've dropped in 2012; and it would've felt right regardless (without necessarily feeling of these times, of course).

You can't be unbiased about Drake after that vegan cookies recipe situation.
2016-2017 is maybe the greatest 2 year run ever in my life. Unreal music and great nostalgia. Those two years were my last 2 years of high school being a free teenage person. Really loved those times, but understand the mid comparisons
I was graduating HS and going into college in 2016. 2016-2017 were top tier years for me too
Jesus... these comments make me feel old af
cubs won the world series and that's part of why it's nostalgic for me
2016 was the best for me too, love to see it
I am ver surprised goosebumps wasn’t in the top 10 of that year but now that I think about it, it did come out late that year
How does this man not understand how “One Dance” and “Sorry” were so popular? Lmao. I thought this guy was a music nerd?
We lost:
Alan Rickman
David Bowie
Prince
Muhammad Ali
Harambe
Carrie Fisher
back in 2016
I've been saying to myself for song long that 2010-2013 was dark but upbeat and just full of bangers. Everything felt modern while the past hadn't let us wander forward.
2014-2017 felt so moody and washed out and disaffected to me as a kid. It was a peaceful time but another person would say that's boring. Everything just was.
2017-2019 felt like a possible Renaissance that brought new sounds new ideas but didn't go as far is could've.
Fantano hitting them Adelle notes Bravo 👏 Melon Bravo 👏
6:38 had a really nice singalong with you Anthony. Our duet will be legendary
Tegan and Sara’s Love You To Death came out in 2016, easily won the entire year for me
Please go backwards and do the 2000s and 90s and even 80s. I love these
Love your videos going through the decade, Anthony - any chance of doing the noughties?
Melon I do agree 2016 was overall mid, but did you really mean it when you said 'My House' by Flo Rida is a top 10 song of all time?
The fact that he came out and said these comments weren't funny makes them that much funnier when the fans just do it anyway out of spite
Even if the songs are super generic many of these songs were the soundtrack to a special part of my childhood especially the summer I can remember vividly hearing that Cant stop the feeling song at the pool
6 years ago was your childhood, so you’re 12 now?
I find it hilarious that Anthony and Todd in the Shadows have the exact opposite opinions on The Chainsmokers’ two biggest hits of this year. Anthony thinks Closer sucks while Todd said it was the best song of the year. Anthony thinks Don’t Let Me Down is pretty good while Todd thought it was one of the worst songs of the year. I think it’s really interesting when my two favorite music critics couldn’t be further away with their opinions.
I have to side with Anthony on this one
while Brad Taste gave both songs dog sh*t although he gave Don't Let Me Down slightly higher than Closer. He also said he used to like DLMD but now he thought it aged horribly.
2016 was the last time I looked up new music
Can’t stop the feeling, Hello and Love yourself are the only songs I would probably consider above C tier. Everything else is C tier or below
Can’t stop the feeling? Really
@@adimatondo284 yes. It’s probably the last great song I’ve heard form Justin Timberlake. Even Say something which is well made dosent have as much of an impact on me
Love Yourself??? 💀 you can’t be serious
@@f4gsforpele I think loving yourself is a well-made love song guitar ballot that is easily Justin Bieber’s greatest achievement. It's a B-tier for me.
I was actually hype for this bc 2016 was probably my fav year of music releases ever. Idk how I expected that to be reflected in the top 10 now tho. Was expecting "Into You" to be up there for some reason and it blew my mind to look it up and see it was only 51st
I’d really like to see a 2010’s year tier list. I’d be interested to see what was the best year for music
Also happy birthday Fantano!! 🎂🎉🥂 Keep up the awesome reviews and content!
Melon, you can’t put every album below A because they aren’t Soulja Boy
LET'S ARGUE: stressed out is basically the edgier version of hey soul sister
2016 was my favorite year for music, I think it was the year I started to evolve the most. I was 16 years old and I was obsessed with BlankFace LP and Birds in the trap sing McKnight. now I'm 21 and stressed 😒
23 and stressed, wonder how long we have until it ends lol
Out?
THE LIFE OF PABLO
I wish we could turn back time, to the good old dayyyyys.
Greetings from your future. 28 and still stressed but by this point you just accept it’s never going away and learn to live with it
im in the "2017 was better than 2016" camp. Interested to see the next tier list
Hella suprised the weeknd wasn’t there at all, at least for me the only songs I heard on the radio in 2016 were star boy and I feel it coming with hello and hotline bling coming up every now and then
