Yeah, the density is different for everything so you can't go by weight unless it is called out in a formula like the production guys use to mix a color with the toners. Most data sheets are done by the volume ratios but they also usually have the viscosity rating to be even more accurate. I have never used a viscosity cup and I've never heard of any painter, custom or production guy, say he wished he used a viscosity cup to measure that paint for that job because it was ruined. lol You are good using the ratios on the cups, I've never had a problem. I even just use the markings on the DeVilbiss D-Cups when I used them and now use the markings on the 3M PPS 2.0 cups I use now. You are doing an awesome job and it is looking great!!!!
Thanks Adam. In the end I only used the weight for the blend I did to get to the burnt orange. I really wanted to be able to get to a reproducible recipe. I also used it to add the fish eye eliminator because the batch size was not all that consistent depending on what I was doing and the amount was small. But yeah came away sticking to volume for the majority of the effort.
@@LakeAndLodgeGarage Very smart keeping a formula and spray-out cards for future use. And yes, that color is looking really awesome, can't wait to see it done!
Mike, you must be super stoked! Reaching the point of shooting color is so rewarding but yet Stressful (for me) because you only want to do it ONCE, lol. (Ask me how I know😵💫)
I've used the Summit paint on a couple projects but didn't seriously consider it for my '69 Camaro build. You didn't seem to cut any corners anywhere else, so choosing a budget-minded paint is a bit of a surprise. How did you come to decide on using the Summit branded paint on a build of this caliber? Or did you make a video on that decision?
