The irony is that this gen is supposed to be the removal of loading screens thanks to the SSD. So, just like Starfield, hack devs are purposefully keeping loading screens in the game but now it's for the goal of stuffing in ads.

Let's be honest here a second - no Hollywood writers have any business writing any new stories for the MIddle-Earth. It's not a franchise like Marvel. Unless you're an Oxford professor of Language and Literature or have comperable education, knowledge and, ideally, life experience to Tolkien's, you don't have any business messing with his legendarium in any kind of "professional" capacity.

I remember seeing an image of one of the helldivers dev's discord messages that were minimizing the problem with needing compulsory PSN accounts to play and they even made fun of the people complaining, I thought it was Pilestedt but then have been seeing a lot of his tweets seemingly holding the opposite view so I was confused.
EDIT: After re-checking and looking at google, the discord name of the dev who made fun of forced psn account complainers was actually Spitz not Pilestedt, mah bad.

If WB is going to milk the LOTR cow, what they should really do is a Blue Wizards Max limited series or movie. What were those guys up to in the South and East of Middle Earth, like the Sea of Rhun, for example? But nah, they want to give us Gollum, a character that only works in small doses. Though Serkis directing does get me a bit intrigued....
I think they should do First age stuff, imagine how cool it would be to see melkor, manwe, tulkas and all other Valars just tussling out, plus noldors, balrog armies etc

The problem is that they won't act to change things for the better long term for people who play games. They'll act in a way to alleviate the concerns of investors, which means whatever will raise the stock price in the now. And that's stuff like EA is talking about, adding ads and such. It's hyping more live service games, because look at the potential revenue.

Ok I don't like the PSN requirement but hear me out there are other companies that do this that we need to speak up on too, I just downloaded Jedi survivor from game pass a 100 plus gb game and when I open the game through game pass or from desktop it not only needs linked to EA but open EA play launcher for an offline game. Ubisoft and I think maybe Capcom does this too
I play on PC, and yes, the major companies do it. EA, Ubisoft, Microsoft... It's nothing new. People are just complaining because PSN isn't available worldwide, so Sony can't sell the PC version in many countries. Will I buy Ghost of Tsushima on PC? Of course I will. It's offered in my country, so I'll buy it. Not every game is available to play in every country. I don't know why anyone would think it's an issue for gamers. For Sony, it's an issue because they make less money when they don't sell games, but however they want to deal with it, if at all, is up to them. I just play games.

For anyone wondering, the only other country in the world where DTC prescription drug adverts are legal is New Zealand.
The United States is one of only TWO COUNTRIES IN THE ENTIRE WORLD that allow pharmaceutical companies to advertise directly to the consumer (pill commercials on TV, radio, etc). It's just a matter of time until Big Pharma puts pill advertisements in video games.
Every other country IN THE ENTIRE WORLD it's illegal for pharma companies to market to the public.
That should tell you everything you need to know about American Big Pharma.
Guillermo didn’t leave; he was forced out. WB wanted Peter Jackson, but he wasn’t available. Guillermo put his whole life on hold and MOVED to New Zealand to focus on this new series. During pre-production, Jackson became available, so they pushed Guillermo out and just gave him a Special Thanks credit on the first film.

you guys aren’t doing “The Hunt for Gollum” justice. it has nothing to do with the game. this film is going to be directed and have andy serkis. the original writers are coming with peter jackson, fran walsh, and tim sanders. also weta is coming back, which is huge. this film may also have viggo mortenson. this is HUGE. the now ceo of WB, David zaslav allowed lotr to be 3 film when others wouldn’t at the time. the hunt for gollum is perfect for the appendices as well and falls in line with what takes place in the story (unlike rings of power). additionally, war of the rohirrim is animated. but regardless, this is huge! and andy serkis knows what he’s doing with the backup of everyone too for input. i’m stoked!

You missed that even tho the reversed PSN requirement for Helldivers 2, they still delisted those countries for Helldivers 2, which makes no sense unless they plan to re-add PSN later when heat cools down.

Ads in-games are fine if they put it in the background naturally, not in your face. We already have items and Ads in games, why not make those real world corpos? They already get backlash everytime for intrusive ads and micro transactions, I see this as a bit of improvement in applying those. But let's not stop being skeptical and cautious, and criticize them so they won' get comfortable ripping consumers.
I'm more surprised to see the name Slimegate to appear here.

Plus you have to cut the Peter Jackson and the crew some slack. Given he was brought in last second after Del Torro left and given an absurd schedule that was so bad he was forced to write scripts for the sequels while filming the movie, its honestly impressive they came out as decent/good as they did.
Well, one bright spot is that Hades 2 early access is going great and is shaping up to be a phenomenal sequel!
two corrections needed here, Sony did not back down because of the players nor reviews but because of the ukrainian gamer to which Sony told to "buy a console in your country at war and make an account on it" and that sunday evening google gave you "sony hates ukraine" results this is the only reason they not really back down, youtuber being more interested in their own views than reality were all too happy to celebrate a non victory playing right into sony's trick because they didn't roll back anything just delayed it
