Hey Chris! Another great rescue! I'm actually also torturing myself with 2 A2000 Rev. 4.1 and Rev. 4.3. Both have the issue of pulling the Halt-Signal down. Let's see, if there is a resurrection for them... For any case, I'm ready with a fresh an new PCB to reassamble a complete "new" A2000! It's always refreshing, looking over your shoulder and I can clearly say, that I learned much from your chanel! Keep the good and inspiring work on our Amigas! They deserve to be rescued and revived!
I think the vinegar (mild acid) counteracts the mild base (alkali) which leaks out of batteries. sometime you can actually see fizzing or bubbles which is the gas leaving the compounds, leaving basically water behind.
Indeed. I used vinegar to treat a laser distance meter in which the alkaline batteries had dropped their juice. After flushing out the loose salt with distilled water and letting it dry (desiccant in a sealed bag) the unit came back to life so I stripped it down a bit and neutralised the residual mess with vinegar. I could hear the fizz as the vinegar crept into the gaps one could not reach. After the fizz stopped, I flushed the water and vinegar out with isopropyl alcohol and gave it that time to evaporate. Then back in the desiccant bag for a couple of hours. Patience is a valuable tool in any repair. Meter works a treat now.
Depends. They’re usually pretty bulletproof. I will take a capacitor out here and there and test it against a new one. Usually the originals are in better condition than my brand new ones. Sometimes I will replace the decoupling capacitors on the power rail where the plug is if needed, but most of the time they’re fine
sure, its this one from the youtuber retrofriends, he does amiga stuff and makes these. its ranges from 75 for vga to100 bucks for hdmi, but damn works great. and all cabled up. here is the sellers page www.ebay.com/usr/jond5

Those Vartas tend to leak more or less depending on the storage situation.
Well if Snoop says I need to send you all of my money, I guess that's good enough for me!
im on the hunt for an amiga 2000 wish me luck.
Chris, do the A2000's need to be recapped? I assume no as I don't recall seeing you doing it. Is it only then the A1200?
