    Nice one my friend, I just came by this video looking for info about the location of the oil catch can. I have the 4.0 TJ and was wondering where to put it. There's a PCV line on the front of the valve cover, but also a CCV line on the rear of the valve cover. Both the PVC an CCV go to the intake manifold. The PCV goes via the throttle body into the intake manifold, the CCV goes directly to the intake manifold. My question is, where to put the catch can?

    Love the videos but hopefully you can clear this up for me. Jks are port injected not direct injected , there would be no build up as any oil would mix with the fuel and clean itself off the valves as opposed to the direct injection which blow by would cause a build up. Not arguing but love to learn.

    • @adventuredex
      @adventuredex  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Mike, thanks for the comment. I believe the 3.6L penstar engines are direct injection which is the reason you can find oil in the intake. It’s not that big a deal in the large scheme of things but I thought it would be good to prevent any further long term build up. What engine do you have?

    Ok so just did mine and I want to give some real-world insight into how it's going to go and the workarounds, first, the 1/2 inch house is a good idea BUT hears the thing it really does not like being shoved onto the hard-line! what I did was to things one put a little dish soap on the hard-line and the other is warm up the end of the hose with a heat gun or hairdryer whatever it takes to soften up the hose and even then it's a little hard but doable, 2nd the male end going out of the intake or manifold whatever has to be 5/8 and after trying everything was like nope I'll break it off then that's it so what I did was take the rubber boot you pulled off shove the new hose in the small end after the heat the boot up just a bit then just put it back on, you can put a clap on it if you want I didn't but you want it have at it, the last thing was where to mount I went with zip ties off the air conditioner lines it looks right is not rubbing anything easy to get at its better then having it bump or rub on the brake lines hope this helps

    FYI...The Pentastar use 2 separate PCV valve outputs. There is one for each cylinder bank located at the rear of each cylinder head against the fire wall. Technically, if you have a Pentastar you're only catching a portion of oil from 1 side of the engine with a single catch can.
    Right PCV output: Injects oil into the intake manifold just behind the throttle body
    Left PCV output: Injects oil into the airbox and has to enter the intake manifold through the throttle body

      The hose that goes into the airbox is a suction hose that goes into the engine, I thought. Run your engine and pull that hose. You should feel the suction going into the valve cover, not pushing out of the valve cover.
      The blow-back is usually from one one valve cover with the PCV, I thought. I suppose I could always test and not guess.

    • @fredfabris7187
      @fredfabris7187 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      This comment is false. The right bank has the oil separated on the exhaust cam. That connects to the pcv valve and fitting. The left head has the fresh air intake. Manifold vacuum pulls the vapors out of the block through the PCV valve, the fresh air intake allow a path to keep the crankcase from going into a vacuum. If you have oil at your left head fitting, you have engine trouble, too much blow-by and the PCV can’t keep up.

      Great question! Probably because it requires more maintenance and most people wouldn’t like hay that even if it saves their engines. Crazy right! JeepWave 👋🏼

    Check your air intake valve... if it’s dry/clean/no sign of oil this is a waste of money. The Wranglers generally don’t have GDI engines, so i don’t see how they benefit from this. If your having oil blow by... something fishy is going on or your driving habits are.... Just saying...

      Having just had the intake an such off on my JK that has 65k on it and fed nothing but synthetic from it first oil change and the oil that was in the intake was crazy. I hadn't though about a catch can but its a cheap fix so I think I will add one.
