Years ago I was watching this at my parents house when I was broke and had no job. I was living with my parents. George's line here will always remind me of that time. I literally was George at that time in my life.
This episode actually inspired my life. When I was in my early 20s trying to figure out my life, my parents kept on trying to tell me what to do. However, my parents were not exactly "successful". Instead, I did the exact opposite of their guidance and turned out way more successful 25 years later than if I had followed their goofy guidance.
that's my favorite line from the episode that and after George gets the job with the Yankees tells his parents "I'm not gonna be nice that's how I got the job" this of course was after his father smacked him in the head
Watch the final scene, Elaine is wearing what George is wearing at the beginning and George is wearing something similar to what Elaine was wearing at the beginning, opposing outfits, appropriate given they are in the opposite situations they were in from the beginning of the episode.
All after she did a series of George-like things. Using Canadian coins, eating too many Jujubees, and missing the tissue to the boss are very George ways to screw up.
I've quoted that line many times (usually without anyone catching the reference 😛). It's actually scary how often I've quoted Seinfeld lines in my life--so much that even *_I_* forget I'm making a quote. It's just part of my regular vocabulary now--eek!

Yes you are correct ...a classic line! So abrupt, it is hilarious. The crazed Steinbrenner character, voiced by Larry David, and all the Yankee head office scenes to come, all sprang to life from this very episode.

I thank heavens that Jason gave up the idea of making George a woody Alan like character. All of the other actors stayed the same from the pilot, but Jason really created the character of George through trial and error
Kramer changed too. Michael Richards played him dumb in the first half dozen episodes. Then he played him as the smartest guy in the room & that made all the difference.
He actually modeled him after Larry David. Woody Allen was the initial basis but then he realized how much of Larry David was in George. There is an interview where he talks about doing a table read and saying to Larry "there is no way this would ever happen to a person and even if it did this isn't how a person would react in this situation." Larry responded "what are you talking about? Thus happened to me and thus is exactly what I did." Once he found out about that it clicked.
Is it really a good show? I just watch clips from the show here in TH-cam and I find it funny. I was born in 99 so I haven’t really seen a full episode of it.
I always found Jerry's acting horrible. It's what ruined the show for me. He looked like the director who gave himself an affirmative-action job in order to be a part of history. Not to mention there was never any depth to his character. Jerry's good at writing jokes and he should've stuck at that. I feel the same at that Curb Your Enthusiasm guy, by the way. A writer who AA'd himself into acting and ended up doing a terrible job of it.
My high school math teacher used to always say 'life is a series of choices'. At the time i never thought about the premise. I would chalk it up as a saying that old people would say. As ive aged, i realized just how true those words actually are. Once we become aware and are a product of our own decisions, each one puts you on a particular path. Each one is connected to the one previous whether they relate or not but in the end we're all a product of the ones we make. Mind blowing
The whole "the opposite" thing is not entirely wrong. Though probably not for just being the opposite. It's more to do with taking chances, thus greater amount of negative AND positive results. Also the lack of caring, the lack of being obviously desperate (women or job), does help with how they perceive you and give you an air of winner.
I love the advice you gave here- Get out of the fearful comfort zone and *Take chances* in all aspects of life, and don't care about the results ( *trying without being desperate* ). Best Advice! Thank You!

Seinfeld & Two & half men are my all time favourite sitcoms. I have lost count on how many times I have rewatched it again & again. Whenever i am down in life I just rewatch them always cheers me up🫶🏻😍
This is the very first Seinfeld episode I saw on the American Airlines flight from London to New York during my very first visit to the US. I’ve been hooked ever since.
This is the best episode of the show and a standout in a string of fantastic episodes in Seasons 4, 5, and 6, which were all hilarious. IMHO, that was peak Seinfeld.
I know the coffee shop scene when George approaches the pretty lady & seen it many times but it still cracks me up, just like when Kramer built Merv Griffin set in his apt. F'ing hilarious!!!

Seinfeld & Two & half men are my all time favourite sitcoms. I have lost count on how many times I have rewatched it again & again. Whenever i am down in life I just rewatch them always cheers me up🫶🏻😍

This is the very first Seinfeld episode I saw on the American Airlines flight from London to New York during my very first visit to the US. I’ve been hooked ever since.
Remember this is how George got the job with the Yankees. We all have a little George Costanza in us. 😂 😆
This is the best episode of the show and a standout in a string of fantastic episodes in Seasons 4, 5, and 6, which were all hilarious. IMHO, that was peak Seinfeld.
