Great comparison but an added benefit for the E-1 is the “stripes” on the neck are carbon fiber reinforcement rods the Gibson has a standard truss rod. Also the schecter is stainless frets, Gibson is nickel frets. Just some added value and durability on Schecter’s part, the Nitro finish on the Gibson will be more temperamental as well. I have the LP shaped apocalypse and assuming the quality is the same you get more for your money with Schecter but resale is always better with the Gibson. Luminlay side dots are also a nice touch for the Schecter. Great vid!
The “stripes” are padauk wood. The carbon fibre rods are actually beside the truss rod underneath the fretboard. Schecter makes some really nice guitars. 🤟🏼🤟🏼
You answered my question about the Schecter having any neck dive issues within the first minute of the video, Thanks for that!!! I have a Gibson Explorer and that guitar is rock solid stable and well balanced...no neck dive whatsoever. I may have to give the Schecter E1 a try since its also a well balanced guitar. Thanks for the video.
@@katoom-ju6vo glad the video helped! You can't go wrong with a schecter E 1. If you're looking specifically at this model, sweetwater has them back in stock now on their site. Or did a few days ago
I have a schecter diamond series e1 frs special edition, and words cannot explain how much I love this thing. Such a solid guitar, now it wasn’t cheap by any means, but you can’t even get a used explorer for that price, and I think it’s twice the guitar. Especially the the sustainiac. Love the video m8
Can't go wrong with either. Just depends on what you're looking for. Getting another explorer in the collection is always a win, haha! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching! They are similar in sound. I think the Gibson pickups are hotter with more gain/bass, but the Schecter has that nice mid range cut, that's great for a lot of Metallica stuff. Combing these two in a recording would be epic, especially for old school, Metallica. I may do that in the future, film a cover, and use these two for the guitar tracks
I noticed is very very slight but the gibson has more of low end in the chugs. Where is the schecter is a bit more terrible end. Great video. Wish the gibson wasn't so much money
Thank you! Yeah, the gibson pickups have more gain to them, but the schecter has more bite. They're up there, but alot of other guitars are getting just as pricey. I remember when I first started playing guitar, the gibson explorer was $1299.99. That's what the schecter costs now. It's crazy
@@DeweyJHall1 I've been mostly long scale or longer scale for years but I'm looking at the Cesar Soto Schecter E1's right now, they look really awesome
The distorted sound was incredibly similar between the two. However the Gibson clean tone does it for me. It’s much richer, fuller/balanced than the Schecter. But for the price…
Awesome video Dewey... question, where did you get that Schecter Purple Reign? I would love to buy one!! \m/ Oops... guess I didn't watch til the end before my comment, thanks Dewey, Sweetwater is getting an order soon! \m/
$1100.00 difference in cost at the out set. Schecky has the 12"-16" compound radius. Fit and finish will always surpass Gibby. Being an old school rocker, I can tell you that Gibson is nothing more than a sticker on a headstock now. Too many instruments built way better at a fraction of the cost. But, if you just have to have that label, I say go for it.
I have several Gibsons, and I love them, but you don't have to spend that kinda cash to get a nice guitar. (I got mine all used, so I saved a ton of cash that way) The schecter is amazing, hands down. The Gibson has its charm as well, but if you're just going by pure specs and features, Schecter takes the win
I have the E-1 and it's really well made and sounds fantastic. Playing Charvel, Jackson and Gibson, I am a big Fan of Schecter for many reasons. My four favorite brands of all time. People buy Gibson I would suggest for future resale, anyway your demo both guitars sound great and you can't go wrong, plus the awesome vibe it gives can't be beat.
Agreed! It also sounds excellent for the classic stuff as well, because it has that bite to it. The E-1 and explorer multi-tracked together would sound epic, in a mix
